It looks like a lot of your questions really revolved around what is there to do in a MMORPG without PvP and why have the whole good vs evil thing.
PvP games and PvE games are really about very different things.
PvP games tend to be about conquest, beating other players, and scoring kills. It's sorta a king of the hill thing. Even if the game offers lots of adventure content the PvP aspect of the game usually dominates. The PvP aspect is the main focus of the game at the expense of a lot of other types of adventure.
PvE games tend to be more about advancement within the game there is still competition to be the first to have the uber sword of dragon slaying but there is also a lot more emphasis on adventures and questing. The game tends to be oriented on item collecting and advancement.
Both types of games can be fun. I think the PvP game I like the best was shadowbane, except for the bugs. And on PvE the best example today is EQ. The best mix game is DaoC but even in that game the PvP aspect is pretty dominant.
Having played them all I tend to prefer the style of game in EQ where it is about team work and cooperation as you adventure and try to advance your characters. Just because a game is PvE doesn't mean that their can't be competion. A good example is Final Fantasy's online game. In that game the cities compete for dominance in different areas which give them better loot drops for crafting. I believe that I've seen it mentioned that there will be some advantage to advancing the social confict and standings of the two cities relative to each other. This results in some enhancement for players from the dominant city. However the competion is in doing jobs and quests for the social structure of the city. Think of it more as competion in running a race not trying to kill each other .
Also good vs evil will shape the types of quest and story the game provides to the player. As an evil player you will be doing quests that are evil You will also find that you have different factions. Factions relate to the reaction of monsters and chracters in the game. If you are evil then a group of thugs out in the wilderness may greet you and ask you to help them kill a unicorn in the area that is giving travelers good luck. Where a group of good players would be attacked on sight.
Another thing the good vs evil thing might do is create a black market economy. Suppose that some resource is only available in a mine controlled by the evil area in the game. Good players might have a very difficult time getting that resource where evil players get it easily. The black market will be the only way to exchange these types of resources.
So within the context of the game the good vs evil thing creates a lot of interesting story and variation in game play.
I think EQ2 is the best PvE game on the near term horizion.
I think WoW is going to try to be hybrid and I'm curious to see if they can succeed.
I think Guild Wars might be the best PvP oriented type game coming soon.
I have never thought the good versus evil dimension u mentioned and how it can works...Yep i agree but i think that something will be missing again..without Pvp...But now, from what i read here or in Official Forums, i believe that we will see some short of "new" pvp in the future, for EQ2....
