It sounds more like your computer run out from ram and game that why take load 30 min or your firewall, etc are set wrong. Also your connection speed is not related much how fast game load, it effect when it try to connect server, but even then server should respond and let you in quite fast (unless you are in queue).
I do not recommend this to anyone.

Ditto. You mean downloading. People are having trouble with instances loading so your advice might confuse them. And it's not needed. You can get 300-450Kbps through a firewall with anti-virus on. Depends on your INet connection, machine and the servers downloaded from. People turn stuff off, forget to turn them on and then end up with 'broken' PCs.......
How can i run out ram when i have 4 gb of ram ?
i mean when you loading the game file, not after you have it up and running..
People it work for me, dont belive me then thats ok...
Turning off anti-virus software is always a good idea when playing games, especially ones that do a lot of loading.
Besides, you don't need anti-virus and firewall software running at all if you know what you're doing. Sadly, most people do not.
You fail english... thats very possible.
Hrm...when I'm downloading, I originally had a connection of approx. 80-100kb/sec, but if i press pause and then restart, I get a connection of 300-400 kb/sec but ultimately it goes back to the 80-100 after a couple minutes...So, I often find myself pressing stop and start every couple mins to maximize download speeds. Is there anyway to stabilize the high speeds? I turned off my firewall but I don't think I even have antivirus...lol.
never EVER turn off your firewall, especially if you have a connection like mine which is on 24/7. You don't even need to be surfing for someone to hack your computer, all they need is your IP address. Which can be gotten a ton of ways from just your everyday browsing, or they can get lucky and just pick a IP address at random, and you are then the unlucky one. I get hack attempted at least once to twice a day, and i see it on my ftp logs, which i use just to transfer my information and files from work to home and vice versa
yes very true have not used an anti-virus or firewall for years and have when i did do an online scan squeeky clean.
Yea, but if i turn my firewall on, it simply stays at the 80-100 w/o ever going up...just trying to maximize speed is all, then i can turn it back on...
yes but at thoise rates your still leaving yourself unprotected for a good few hours don't forget, but if you think its worth it, and are willing to risk it, that choice is up to you
Thanks for the caution bro, but does anyone know a way to maximize the download speeds off of the main download from the AoC Website? Is it primarily based on location to determine your download speeds?
I turn my av off all the time, especially when Im gonna download lots of stuff all at once. I also dont use a firewall at all. Comcrap sucks as it is, Im not going to gimp it further with a firewall.
Just dont go to the pornsite, or click links in emails you got from strangers, dont go to gold selling site. >.>
I have been using PC's on the net for over 5 years and have only been "hacked" once. I never have a anti-virus or a firewall on as this bogs down my games a lot, since I built my new PC I now use Zonealarm but it has never detected a "hacker." I don't know what your doing, but I suggest to stop going to porn sites which attract hackers lol. I also work at HP in tech. support and people call in saying "Someone is hacking me" on a daily basis, usually I find out it is just something the user did to the notebook or a HDD going bad...

Anti-viruses are 90% not needed... I've built and learned my own way around computers since I was 10 (Now 18).
All you need is Firefox2 or 3 and NoScript, have cookies cleared every time you close Firefox and your pretty much set. And if you can't learn to use NoScript which a monkey could learn... Then I suggest you go buy a PS3. It has web browser and usb keyboard/mouse works with it. Honestly though... Virus? I lol'd.
Sorry forgot to say,
Turn down/off Viewing Distance and Environmental Shadows (If possible. Haven't tried AoC yet)
And I should also mention Vista is a horrible OS that will take ALL gaming performance down and will also cause more bugs considering it feeds off the GPU for desktop apps (stupid Microsoft). I feel sorry for anyone that didn't get XP option or paid more than $20 for Vista.
Oh such BS...Vista plays all games just fine and just as good as when I played them on XP! If you're having trouble getting a game to work or ur games are slower...then ur PC can't handle Vista or you just have no clue how to work Vista!

Yes that is true it does run games good but it also has it's flaws and if not then why can i Run LoTRo perfectly on XP but when i load Vista on it does nothing but give black screens 10 minutes into game i have tried alot of solutions to fix the issues and can only put it down to Vista and the same thing happens with this game and i think you will find it to be a problem with a lot of crashes as Vista uses a lot of Sys ram to help Vid Ram thus for leaving the system short on Resources when it needs it, if some one can tell me if there is a fix to this problem i will most likely try it but whilst Vista is using half of my 4gb ram for video i will not be useing it but i do agree it does run games ok just some it does not i mean when i did have it running on LoTRo it looked great but i can only take so much of crashing when i know my system is more than capable of playing LoTRo as i have been playing it since early cosed beta.
Bench marks prove it. I also proved it myself by dual-booting it. 6~ fps drop in Crysis. 6 fps in Crysis is huge when you run it at only 35fps in XP, 28 in Vista (DX9 Maximum settings).
E8400, 8800GT, 2GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12.
And yes Vista plays all games fine but also causes more problems because of the feeding off GPU and considering AoCs requirements I could for-see a hefty difference between the 2, especially for the lower end systems. Vista has been proven to just look pretty and nothing else lol.

I play LOTRO on Vista Ultimate 64bit flawlessly, and besides the horrible condition AoC is in...Vista ran it fine except for the constant problems the game is plagued with!
Not sure how to help ya with that, but if you were playing LOTRO in the past on an 8800 series nVidia card...they had issues for a few weeks and the drivers were causing the game to crash alot...happened to me but its fixed now.

2 other ways to improve performance:
1. Have all your games on a separate HD from your OS.
2. Still need a 2nd HD for this one but if your games are on the same HD as the OS, then switch the Cache access to the 2nd HD without the OS/Games.

I'll tell you what, tomorrow I'll give a review of Vista Ultimate 32 / 64 AND XP 32 / 64. I can imagine AoC running 40% better on XP.
I have dual-boot 32bit and then I have a media center with 64bit (AMD 5400+, 8600GT 512, 2GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-15)

Yeah im not completely blaming Vista sorry if it sounded that way i am also assuming this to be the probem it is a driver/vista issue i am using an 8600gt and it just bugs me why it does it i guess what im saying is that even tho it does run games great it does have it's issues even if it is a vid driver issue in regards to being compatible with Vista i have tried every option know to man i think to fix the issue and nothing seems to fix it the only way i can run the game is if i dumb the graphics down to low settings and 1024x768 resolution but why would i want to do that? But i guess trusty Old XP will have to do it for me which in all honesty looks fine anyways.
How to improve performance? Simple.
High clock, low latency ram
G8 or G9 series nvidia card with latest beta drivers
Don't use dx10 (there's barely a difference)
Stop using AA on low resolutions people! It's not doing you any good! You're taking a 20 or more fps hit for NADA
Defrag your harddrive and have the game put on the furthest sectors out (fastest)
Use a Sata 3gb/sec HD
Disable graphic settings you don't need or care about (grass, shadows, etc)
Don't have any security software sitting idlely or running in the background during gaming
Turn all instant messengers off during gaming
Keep your system clean of virsuses, etc
Update to latest directx
Monitor your temperatures... a hot pc is a slow pc
UPGRADE YOUR FKING RIG! This isn't WoW we are playing here
The list goes on.. if you can't handle managing PC gaming and don't take the time to learn about PCs, but you want to do PC gaming.. then THIS TYPE OF GAMING IS -NOT- FOR YOU. Go buy a console.
You can't just slap a new graphic card in a POS rig and expect it to work better.. every component contributes to performance.. they all work together.. and they can all hurt each other. If you have a G8-G9 graphic card, but a P4 Single Core or a PD or a CPU with less then 3.0GHZ, -IT WILL BOTTLENECK YOUR PERFORMANCE-
You need to understand building a PC is a group effort on each components part. Yes your motherboard also makes a huge difference. Even the type of connectivity you have with your harddrive. Sata is faster then IDE. Your power supplies ability to maintain stable power under heavy load while keeping a low heat profile helps.. etc.. again, the list goes on.. DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE.
Also, stop being dumb and buying Dells or some stupid crap like that.. I LAWL @ U! Those are not gameing rigs.. those are POS refirbished comps that they sell at 4x their value. L2BUILD.
For one, dual-booting is going to slow down performance. I have never had one issue with Vista, and as I said earlier I work for HP and 90% of all tech calls we get is caused by the user not by Vista.
