Ok I have had no end of trouble getting this game to even work. I'm just curious if I'm the only one with these problems.
It might be interesting to just document what OS and vid card you are having and give a brief line about which option you choose. Perhaps the game works better for vista then xp or maybe for ati vs nvidia... Maybe include the version of video driver you are using cause it seems the game is very sensitive to video drivers.

I'm running xp with nvidia and using 174.93 and for me it loads sometimes but most of the time just crashes when starting up. Crashes can be freezing or the little dialog complaining about stuff like

for me its about a 60/40 load/wont load ratio
Win XP Pro 32bit
8800GT EVGA 512
It loads up just fine for me, but..., I've had 2 computer restarts while playing it, I've never gotten one of those before during a game.
Windows XP 32bit SP2, 6800GT driver version is 169.21
Loads great, runs fine.
well the latest whql drivers for xp from nvidia will not run full screen and seem to have graphical glitchs. You know random wierd angular shapes that sometimes flicker in the screen. Doesn't seem to happen much but in a 10 min period you would probably see it.
In any event I finally got the game to load again. Someone on the aoc forums suggested that you need to reinstall video drivers sometimes since AoC can corrupt them somehow... didn't seem likely but I was able to load the game so who knows...

Disasterous client. It crashes at least 3-4 times in an hour.
Never had a problem with it not loading. So it loads every single time.
It also runs smooth 90% of the time, the other 10% of the time I pretty much know when I'm asking for lag. (I bother video options the devs said not to tinker with in this build mainly, the other times I alt-tab out of fullscreen over and over.)
Things aren't all roses though, I've had a few incidents: Twice earlier today I had an issue where..I guess things weren't loading correctly. Textures in new areas were low quality with NPCs having yet to appear; probably server lag though on Open Beta 1. Once today I switched from Night to Day, the screen hung at "Generating Content" and I had to forcefully close the client.
Those are the only three problems I've had today though, and today marks the longest I've played OB so far.
I have to say though, my FPS is like 30-40 FPS. It was a LOT better with the PvP Weekend Client where I steadily hit and exceeded 60 FPS by a few points...I imagine I was capping out.
This client definitely has issues, so I don't doubt anyones complaints about it. Same time, I've seen what a latter client runs like, so I'm pretty optimistic about launch despite OB performing worse than the PvP Beta.
9800GTX
Vista 64 Ultimate
C2D 2.66ghz
8 Gigs DDR2 800
Never had a problem with loading up. Runs at 30-50 FPS in Tortage City, 45-65 in open areas. High settings, 4x AA, no bloom. Occasional client crashes, maybe once an hour.. sometimes less, sometimes more. This is because of the client, I am sure of it. Seems there is a hidden performance setting, which changes your model details depending on where you are and what you're doing. We'll be getting another patch shortly.. I hope it eliminates the crashing.
I'm definitely keeping my CE pre-order. Excellent game. The quests are just awesome. Sure, go here, collect this, kill this. But that's not just it, the meaning behind the quests are what make them great. You're not just killing for the sake of it, you're doing everything for a reason.
figured I'd bump it up in prime time to get some more data points on the survey.

Loads every time since PVP weekend on my old computer and no lags. Sometimes it swaps a little, but very rarely. I think 3GB of RAM helping my old computer to handle it.

From what i hear from my guild the closed beta doesnt have the same crash problem the open beta does. The devs admitted that and said they are tryign to fix it but i quit playing the beta at level 13. The leveling was fun, i still want to play it but it was giving me a friging headache.
I have a 3.2 ghz dual core 2 gig ddr2 7600 gt on XP pro. Nothing spectacular but at the same time nothing that should have a problem running the game on low settings. When i was in game my fps were fine at around 40-60 but the game constantly crashed.
Half the time i turn the client on it crashes while loading in from char screen. Half the time it crashes it freezes the screen so i cant alt tab (can still talk in vent just cant exit game.)
Also has given me nv4 display blue screens ingame, lags out constantly and D/Cs and basicaly any other problem imaginable. LIke i said, gave me a headache after 2 days and was more trouble that its worth, expecially since you cant level past 13 in open beta and that only takes a couple of hours to reach.
Loads fine and framerate is good but locks up constantly. I have tried about 5 or 6 sets of video drivers and every suggestion I can find on the forums.
I miss DAoC
2x9600gt ooc
8gb ddr
q6600@2.4
Loads fine ..runs great apart from when the caves bit loads can take a min or so before the lag stops...
Im using the latest nvidia drivers.
Almost identical to my system.
3.2ghz dual core
4gigs of corsair extreme
9800 GTX 1gig
Vista 64
Runs at 30-45 fps in cities/dungeons and 50-65 in open areas. I run at 8x's AA and no bloom draw distance set to 2500. I do get some load times that go beyond a couple of minutes, but most are like 10 seconds. I have had it stutter a bit when a bunch of players enter into an area I am in, but it quickly goes away. I have experienced some lock ups where the system completely freezes, but this is after playing for a few hours straight( a memory leak that Funcom is aware of).
I do not care to much for all the fed-x and kill x # of this...but at least the combat is fun enough to not make it mind numbingly boring.
Also...I am sure that those in OB have noticed something a little different about how MOB's react. There is no just pull one MOB that is in a group or near others of their kind to whittle their numbers down. The MOBs in this game react to someone in their immediate vicinity to being attacked(not all mind you - but some - depends on where you are at). This can make things a little interesting in some situations.
As I have stated the combat is not really twitchy, but it is really close. And despite what some people claim who are in OB, the combat gets deeper and more intricate the higher in level you go. It takes a lot of practice to get good at this games combat. It is easy to get teh grasp of the basic combat system but it'll be ahrd to master later in levels due to numerous factors.
After I crashed one time the game started making issues: loading time become unacceptable and game was crashing or freezing way too often. I reinstaled the client and this solved the problems.
For now.
bumping, as this is a good poll.
Well I think I got the game working for me consistently. I actually think I can upgrade my status to loads consistently with some lag haha but I'm probably being optimistic just cause it worked a few times for me.
Anyway I posted another thread with tips for getting the game to work. If you are having problems take a look maybe it will help.
BTW for people selecting that there isn't an appropriate option on the poll list what option would you add??

bumping to get some more data

Yeah I was being overly optimistic but I did find another fix that not only makes it load when I was about ready to give up but also makes it load several times faster then it used to. My initial loading time on logging in after creating a character has gone from several minutes to less then 10 seconds!
