jugularveinjugularvein Member UncommonPosts: 371

Hi all, I'm in need of a new computer and I need all the help I can get with choosing a nice desktop computer for gaming.

current pc specs:

4200+ AMD dual core processor X2, 2 gigs, 2.4 ghz, ATI 1850 512 mb graphics card.

What im looking for is:

1. Can play almost all games near max settings. Expecially aoc and upcoming games.

2.  A pc that wont be outdated in a year

3.  A graphics card that wont be outdated soon

4. A desktop under 1,000 dollars hopefully, yet still have great performance.

5. A premade desktop from either bestbuy or circuitcity.

Im not the best with computers so any help would be great.  Ive seen this advertised at circuitcity and was wondering what you guys think.  Or if you have any suggestions.

Its called: CyberpowerPC Gamer  Infinity 6330 desktop PC.

Thats just one that I saw but if you guys see anything better for under 1,000 dollars plz let me know why and where to get it.

Thank you all again for this help, its much appreciated

Well this is the cyberpower pc i bought last week http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229028.

So far i am pleased can play crysis on medium settings. only had to turn off volume shadows and turn water effects to low. Plays it smooth has silk.

Nice tower plenty of room to upgrade, core tmep and hard drive temp on front plate with controllable fan speed switch on front.

On top of tower usb port fire wire port and mic and headset ports.

In rear mass of usb ports built in ethernet and full surrond sound ports.

Cool blue light inside..yeah i know thats just cosmetic but its my first rig ive ever had with lights on it .

Came with windows vista 32 bit. Kinda weird getting used to it all my usuall programs are scattered around but getting used to it.

Bad parts are only a 420 wat power supply, low end cheapo card graphics wise and only two gigs of ram.

But seeing how all those three things i can upgrade its not much a drawback seeing has how straight from the box crysis runs has well has it does. I forsee once i upgrade those three things ill be running it and hopefully aoc on full or close to full.

Now heres the real bad part on cyberpower and i hate to say it since my expeirence has been so good, but id be a horrible person if i didnt point this out.  Sometimes cyberpower uses a mixture of refurbed parts and new in their computers and has you can guess at times this does not go well. Thier have been nightmare stories about people getting their  "new' computer and its doa.

Ive read some pretty nasty stories of horrible customer service and lackluster tech support. Just google cyberpower reviews think it was under resellers.com.

But again for me it worked out pretty well and i am a very satisfied customer i paid around 590 dollars and got a very speeedy nice looking computer... Now just to wait for aoc.

you will not find a premade desktop pc for under 1000$ that wont be outdouted in a year. I dont think any desktop for 1000$ can even get you max specs for AOC. Save your money and L2build one, or you can spend the extra cash and build one at IBUYPOWER or some other site that is devoted to building pcs for gaming.

Hi all, appreciate the help so far with the premade computer question I've had.  Ive been looking at a few and was wondering if these computers would be alot better then i currently own.  Any help would be great.

I just want something to replace my computer so I can play aoc and other upcoming games pretty well.  I know I dont need max settings but I do need a computer update.  With the last two links I would prob put another gig or 2 of ram in there to help out and eventually get another graphics card.  But im wondering if these computers are alot better upgrade then what i have currently.  If possible I would lke to get away from the top link due to it being the most expensive and hopefully the bottom two can function just as well.  Thank you for your help everyone

Jug take the advice of these guys and DONOT BUY A PREBUILT.

You will get three times the pc for half the price by building one yourself.

I planed on building one and did so with no knowledge of how to seems i had the same exp as you changing ram and GPU's.

Trust me take 2-3 weeks just perusing on newegg and get and idea of twhat you want and you will see its all pretty simple.

I didnot build brand new as of yet but did replace key components in my pc having never done so before with no trouble. for about 225 buck i increased my FPS by at least 40.

P4 3.0 prescott (yehyeh duel cores coming soon)2 gigs of kingston, picked up an AGP256mb EVGA a new Rosewill CPU cooling fan and sink and a rosewill 650w PSU. (Alll of witch can follow right onto the 775 Socket I pick up soon. all that for something in the range of 250 bucks. Now I know its not all top of the line gear but really in order to do that I would rather do a full build anyways and start from Mobo up. My point is it is easy if you look around and Newegg ids the place to look.

Even if you see stuff copy the links and ask away then you will get educational feedback stuff like ohhh now you can't use that AMD CPU with an intel MoBo. And trust me you will feel comfortable with it all before you know it.

All this ranting is to show you that in a VERY short time you can build one yourself as long as your not Deede deee. But as you mentioned you have replaced ram so you cant be all that scared to go into your pc or you would not have even attempted that.

IMO Build your own then you get real RIG's for Great Prices.

If $1000 is your budget I wouldn't go with a new system.  You have a pretty nice build as it is.  I would replace the video card with an 8800GT and then save the rest and build something in a year from now.  The new video card will allow you to play the latest games, but you likely won't get what you are looking for with that budget so you are better off saving the money.
