What I have a problem with in this game...

Polearms are always two-handed...

Why on earth? Most polearms fighting styles are used with a shield , in many places on earth. Why would they be two-handed only. Maybe something would be added in the future.

I don't see why they have to ruin my favorite weapon in these mmos!

Interesting point. Now that I think about it, you are absolutely right. Polearms were often used together with a shield.

I wonder why no MMO implements this. Lack of research? *shrugs*

yeah, very good point. I could imagine a bunch of spartan impersonaters with the polearm / shield combo... ugh, the phalynx formations would never end  I think it would just be more fitting at this point to call them halberds if they're two handed...

Nonetheless I would like to see something like this added into a game eventually. I'm more of a two-handed weapon person myself, I like halberds and hammers in these sorts of games, but the options are always critical to me.

yeah, polearms have always been in games as huge or long weapons, and therefore i guess, considered a two hander.  it would be sick to go total 300 on enemies though, or make battle formations by locking shields with your buddies

Pikes and spears were often used with a shield. These were long, narrow wooden shafts with a pointed metal tip. Easy to use with one hand, for thrusting as in the phalanx formation. Halberds were a spear, or something resembling a spear, that had a blade attached, usually one that was shaped like a crescent on an axe. When you look at it like this, it really makes sense to use it with 2 hands, so you can charge in with a thrust, then swing it in a large arc for decapitation.

    Oh well

A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

I'm not saying all polearms should be two handed, but why not have some variation. I mean they two classes that can use spears, are Tempest of Set and Guardian. Both classes can use spears and shield, so why not have them together.

Spears and shields have been together for many, many years. Used in combination from all across the world, China, Africa, you name it.

And think about it, what would be easier to make for a main weapon? A sword which takes a very long time to make, using precious iron, or a spear which uses easily available wood and just a fraction of the iron that the sword needed? Spears were the most common weapon of the past, swords and daggers were for the richer folk. I don't know why they don't combine them, but it'd be realistic at least.
