About to get Vista for my Gaming Machine...32bit or 64bit?

I have no idea which one to get.  Is there a significant difference?  What do you guys think?  I was about to order the 32bit....but now i'm wondering whats all the 64bit hype about?

Do some research and find out if your mobo/video card has drivers out for vista 64 bit, and if they're working well.  If so, get 64bit.  If your research turns up the drivers are buggy, go with 32.

64bits, able to use more ram.

I would go with the 64 bit. I have vista 32 bit and it looks like it's going to be a pain to bump up to 64 bit. The main reason I want to switch to a 64 bit is that the 32bit  is only able to support 2gigs of ram for any one application, while a 64 bit allows 4g.

    Long explanation short:

If you have a 64 bit cpu get a 64 bit OS, if you want to use 4Gb or more of ram get a 64 bit OS.

If neither of the above apply get a 32 bit OS.

64 bit, you are going to easily see more then 4 gigs in your system by the end of the year.  32 bit limits your ram to about 3 gigs.

definitely go with the 64 bit...

if you're going to go for the worst OS out there atm, why not go for the best of the worst?

If you buy the boxed Vista version, the key will be good for both 32 and 64. Though you will have to order from MS the 64bit version(I think it costs 10 usd) unless you buy the ultimate ver, cause that one has both 32 and 64 packed in the box.

Most of the games still run better on Xp then Vista though:)

Agreed. Since when does Xp run games better? I have noticed no difference (except wonderful graphics from dx10) that would make xp a better performance runner. Because it takes less Ram on your computer? Well yeah. If that is the reason. Get more ram >>; it takes 500mb of ram and 8gb of space. Is that so bad?

And for those who complain about those Bsod. Ive never ever gotten a single one of them.

Then again, it was the same fuss about xp when it came out so meh. I just like progress and new tech. :p

I noticed i have a x64 dualcore. I should change to a  64-bit version. And get an additional 2gig of ram while im at it.

i have an xp and a vista box, and i wont lie, xp really does not run games any better. alot of the time its exactly the opposite. (i dont have 64 bit so i cant vouch for that)

    AMD X2 6000+

    2gb ddr2 kingston ram

    8800gts 512mb

everything runs great on highest settings (crysis, the witcher, vanguard, world in conflict, C&C 3, assassin's creed, the list goes on.)

I had the same question, so I bought Vista Ultimate, and created a duel 32/ 64 bit setup.

Truth be told, I never use the 32 bit vista.

The 64 bit with service pack 1 installed has run flawlessly for me.

I bought 8 Gigs of ram, so I have plenty left to run games after Vista hogs the Gig and a half for itself.

AoC runs great, and the extra memory lets the game use the max amount allowed which really helps with load times.

64 bit is the future. Buy it.
