i do own an Xbox360 and a Wii play my Xbox a little more but come on Ike owns on SSBB... both are great to have and play PS3 not worth it at all played it...it was alright right but you wont get half the enjoyment as you would a Xbox or a Wii

My friend is getting War and i am getting AoC personally think AoC would be funner for me because it has lot's of cool stuff which is new and never seen in todays top MMO's while War is like WoW same which WoW coppied War but my point is not much has changed beside some new pvp system and stuff
there's nothing new except for the 80 level arcing storyline ... i've been waiting for someone to point out new from AoC other than combat (yes that counts spellweaving too) and graphics. Otherwise all the in game mechanics have been done be for right down to instanced pvp, borderlands type pvp, player cities, and pvpable player cities.
Which is why even if you do have the rig to run AoC at it's "pretty graphics" settings, there really isn't a good game behind the graphics engine.
If AoC had WAR graphics, it would be as hyped as Elf Online.

That's your opinion, not mine and certainly not the opinion of thousands of others. The gameplay that I've seen so far is fun and very engaging, and more importantly it adds a much-needed reactive/action element to a tired old combat system. WAR seems to offer little more than an updated WoW system with improved RvR, and this coupled with the all-too-familiar graphic style (I know I know they did it first, but that's hardly the point) many will find after the first free month that it's not nearly enough of a departure from WoW to keep them hooked.
And you're right, AoC doesn't have bland WAR graphics, so people are hyped about it. How is that a bad thing? Sure it may not be the second coming of Christ, but it's a lot more interesting than anything else on the horizon right now.

Looking at just 1 game's sale numbers and trying to make any statement about the underlying console is wrong. Look at the console sales numbers, Wii is outselling both of the other systems by wide margins. Just as very few people are going to buy a brand new computer for a single game, very few people are going to buy a console for a single game.
As for XBOX live: The majority of console players (based on the numbers buying non-networked games vs. networked games) use their consoles for standalone gaming. Trying to derive a consoles success from its online use is again missing the big picture that the Wii console is out selling the other consoles even without a top of the line network.

That much is true. He also credited this success to "innovative game play", which is blindly ignorant. It's the same old games with a different controller interface. Tennis? Kart races? Boxing? C'mon, get real... next you'll be telling us that Wii Tetris is a revolutionary (excuse the pun) new concept in gaming. It's a novel control mechanism used to cleverly disguise the fact that Nintendo haven't managed to produce anything new or creative for years.
Just another reason Blizzard is smart and actually got the big $ they deserved : WoW - cartoonish graphics that appeal to alot of people (not GFX whores "omgz lol iwant coolz grapics for my awseomz comp") and also can run on most computers. Why Funcom is stupid and won't get the $ ( well they will get $ but less than they expected Im sure of that): using very high gfx most people can't run (there goes a big part of the community of MMOs) + lag because of the fact that is a Massive Multiplayer and the gfx for that genre is just ahead of it's time. That's what divides Blizzard from the rest, they think about what the crowed wants and needs and not only what will be "cool" and actually fail in true time.
Blizzard made a mmorpg for the mainstream. And we really don't need another one.
If Funcom wants to break from the mainstream, then kudos to them. But they'll of course never reach the same subscriber numbers as WoW, but I seriously doubt that was ever their intention.

Oh God! I spent more times lodaing than leveling. I think when I reached 8th level in the AOC Open Beta, if it wasn't for the instancing, I would of been 13.
Hell, even to take a crap in the game is an instancing experience of 7 to 10 minutes. Then it hitched during the crapping process continually.

The majority of us regular guys with with our ancient PC's just want to play games. five year old graphics were good enough for me then and they are good enough for me now. I have nothing against people who want to have the latest technology. But your argument that MMO's should have cutting edge graphics falls flat because they are meant to attract large volumes of players in order to be economical. How many people are willing to go out and spend hundreds of dollars more in upgrades just to play a game and then do it all over again when the next one comes out? Not as many as you think I bet. Not anymore because they see graphics almost as good on their consoles at a fraction of the cost of PC gaming and without 90% of the bugs that plague PC games these days.
And how much better do the graphics in a "game" have to be before you people are happy? Sure immersion is a good thing, but its a game, on a PC. Use your imagination a little bit and just enjoy the game. After the first initial oohs and aahs of playing a new game with nice graphics you quickly forget about them and concentrate on the game itself.
Its the game I want to play not the graphics! Without the game graphics are just pretty pictures.
Anyway I hope the beta issues get worked out and the game succeeds to some degree. If many more MMO's continue to die quick deaths, we could see a lot fewer companies willing to spend the big bucks on development. That would be a shame.

I'm not resentful or angry and I do own 2 Bob carver signature amplifiers, why I asked you that is because you want people playing games to upgrade their gear as you,different person different priorities but both are potential customers for any company.That's what everyone here are talking about, FC took a route which will reduce it`s playerbase because its target is high end (gear) customers and if they miss their number of subs to be profitable now they might end up like vanguard with a small niche market.
Like I said in another thread Blizzard open the market to a wider playerbase people who has never played EQ,AC or DAoC who could believed that an mmo would have a 10 Million playerbase and these people are looking for another game to play as WoW is on its 4 years life cycle and starting to fade from its supreme jewel status.
So telling people that they are living in the past is not a good way to make your point.

I would much rather the game play be moved forward BEFORE the graphics. The truth here is, all you are getting is a reskin of 'the same ol same ol' instead of something new and beautiful. IT sounds to me like you would find more entertainment from the pure art industry. That industry is founded around 'new' and 'pretty'. Gaming markets are based around gameplay and the entertainment therein. Instead, because of people like YOU, these smacktard developers have been wasting YEARS of progressive development time focusing on pretty instead of advancing the actual gameplay.
So, the REAL fans of this market are suffering because you art nuts only care about how nicely the boobies look on screen. This and this alone is the entire reason the console market has had the success it has. How is what Koku said inaccurate? He merely stated that the Wii CONSOLE was blowing away the other two, referring to the sales of the wii vs. the ps3 and xbox respectively. That is probably the most truthful statement that has come out of the AoC vs. WAR threads on mmorpg.com lol
Koku is right about the Wii out selling the Xbox 360 and the Ps3 .. whens the last time you saw a Wii in a store? Rare..very rare even after almost 2 years.
Recent marketing reports show that the average xbox 360 owner has 7 games...while for the Wii the average owner has 6. Now considering how long the Xbox 360 has been out (way way way longer than the Wii) its actually a sad number...the XBox 360's users considering its age should have several times more Games compared to Wii Owners. (Hell I own way more PS2 games than most Xbox360 owners own Xbox games)
The Xbox360 is 1. to expensive 2. breaks way to easily 3. the games on it aren't that great..maybe 1 in 8 games that come out are worth a damn. 4. It charges you to play online...I can sit on my Wii and play Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros including tournaments for no extra charge plus I don't have to listen to horribly annoying 12 year old cuss out their moms when they're told they have to go to bed.

i do own an Xbox360 and a Wii play my Xbox a little more but come on Ike owns on SSBB... both are great to have and play PS3 not worth it at all played it...it was alright right but you wont get half the enjoyment as you would a Xbox or a Wii

On last count I found about 8 machines with far better graphs than the Nintendo handhelds, but always, always the gaming fun factor won.

there's nothing new except for the 80 level arcing storyline ... i've been waiting for someone to point out new from AoC other than combat (yes that counts spellweaving too) and graphics. Otherwise all the in game mechanics have been done be for right down to instanced pvp, borderlands type pvp, player cities, and pvpable player cities.
Which is why even if you do have the rig to run AoC at it's "pretty graphics" settings, there really isn't a good game behind the graphics engine.
If AoC had WAR graphics, it would be as hyped as Elf Online.

The gameplay that I've seen so far is fun and very engaging, and more importantly it adds a much-needed reactive/action element to a tired old combat system. WAR seems to offer little more than an updated WoW system with improved RvR, and this coupled with the all-too-familiar graphic style (I know I know they did it first, but that's hardly the point) many will find after the first free month that it's not nearly enough of a departure from WoW to keep them hooked.
And you're right, AoC doesn't have bland WAR graphics, so people are hyped about it. How is that a bad thing? Sure it may not be the second coming of Christ, but it's a lot more interesting than anything else on the horizon right now.

Looking at just 1 game's sale numbers and trying to make any statement about the underlying console is wrong. Look at the console sales numbers, Wii is outselling both of the other systems by wide margins. Just as very few people are going to buy a brand new computer for a single game, very few people are going to buy a console for a single game.
As for XBOX live: The majority of console players (based on the numbers buying non-networked games vs. networked games) use their consoles for standalone gaming. Trying to derive a consoles success from its online use is again missing the big picture that the Wii console is out selling the other consoles even without a top of the line network.

That much is true. He also credited this success to "innovative game play", which is blindly ignorant. It's the same old games with a different controller interface. Tennis? Kart races? Boxing? C'mon, get real... next you'll be telling us that Wii Tetris is a revolutionary (excuse the pun) new concept in gaming. It's a novel control mechanism used to cleverly disguise the fact that Nintendo haven't managed to produce anything new or creative for years.

If Funcom wants to break from the mainstream, then kudos to them. But they'll of course never reach the same subscriber numbers as WoW, but I seriously doubt that was ever their intention.

Oh God! I spent more times lodaing than leveling. I think when I reached 8th level in the AOC Open Beta, if it wasn't for the instancing, I would of been 13.
Hell, even to take a crap in the game is an instancing experience of 7 to 10 minutes. Then it hitched during the crapping process continually.
The majority of us regular guys with with our ancient PC's just want to play games. five year old graphics were good enough for me then and they are good enough for me now. I have nothing against people who want to have the latest technology. But your argument that MMO's should have cutting edge graphics falls flat because they are meant to attract large volumes of players in order to be economical. How many people are willing to go out and spend hundreds of dollars more in upgrades just to play a game and then do it all over again when the next one comes out? Not as many as you think I bet. Not anymore because they see graphics almost as good on their consoles at a fraction of the cost of PC gaming and without 90% of the bugs that plague PC games these days.
And how much better do the graphics in a "game" have to be before you people are happy? Sure immersion is a good thing, but its a game, on a PC. Use your imagination a little bit and just enjoy the game. After the first initial oohs and aahs of playing a new game with nice graphics you quickly forget about them and concentrate on the game itself.
