Yeah it should but the setting will have to be low. What is your memory?

Settings won't be that low, you should be fine.

I have 768 mb of RAM

So would i be better off returning this and getting an AGP model instead?  I heard that PCI is bad......

or would sticking with this be fine.....i'm not looking for really hardcore preformence, if i really wanted that i would get a much better card, but this will be fine until i get a new computer. image  So would the lag be acceptable and would this card work acceptably?

Kunou, you're kind of the expert on Eq2, could you please answer this for me?

PCI is no where near as good as just a normal AGP 8 card, the PCI slots are not as near as fast(bandwidth wise) as a AGP. PCI is 133mbps and AGP x8 is 2,133mbps. PCI runs at 33mhz and can only do 1 data cyle per clock, AGP 8x is 66mhz and can do 8 data cyles per clock. I can promise you a AGP x8 FX5200 128mb is much faster PCI FX5200. Will this card work with EQ2? I'm starting to doubt it.

It doesnt matter what type of FX it is it matters that it is PCI instead of AGP 8x. Is your PCI? Is it Ultra? Monkey, I dont think Geforce 4s are supported, as they are DirectX 8 not 9.

Yeah, sorrry, I misread at first, thought you were referring to PCI-E, not standard PCI. Yeah I'd definitely exchange that for an AGP version if you can.

I didnt think they made FX5200 in PCI-E.

No, prolly not, but it's been so long since I've heard anyone talking about a standard PCI graphics card, and on top of all the talk of PCI-E stuff lately my mind just naturally went with the PCI-E route over standard PCI. Hell I didn't even know they still made standard PCI graphics cards. ;)

Well, I know that ATI stoped making PCI cards with the 9200, mabye fx5200 was the last PCI card too. Graphics cards havent used the bandwidth of the agp 8x(thats why PCI-E is 1-2 percent faster) but PCI=big bandwidth lag.

Ok I've got a couple questions out there for you computer nerds.  My current system is P4 2.2 Socket 478 Motherboard, nvidia ge force 4600TI video card, 768 mbs or rambus ram.  First question, if I was going to upgrade anything which out of the three should I do?  Next question...There isn't much info or availability out there for RD-ram.  It'll be like 500 bucks from what I've found to throw two 512's in there.  Since Rd supposivly runs at 800mhz does that mean that it is twice as fast as DDR and that I'll be able to get away with 768 just fine?  No point in upgrading if I can get away with the same performance as someone with like 1500 DDR ram in their computer.  The last question I have is it possible to upgrade the processor as long as it says its a socket 478 motherboard in the specs?

Guess i'll have to return it and get a better one. image......

I currently have the Nvidia Geforce fx 5200 256 in my computer along side 1536 megs of DDR ram..... I can run Doom 3 on ultra settings with no problems.....although I cannot run it smoothly with high anti-analizing on.
Oh, mine is AGP....PCI sucks monkey nuts

What motherboard is it?  Most Motherboards will tell you what processor speeds they can handle.  Your best bet is to check the website of the manufacturer since it's probably more updated than the mobo manual you have.  Alot of companies will release new BIOS versions to handle newer processors of the same architecture (i.e. 478)

Out of what you said, if you were looking to do just a $500 upgrade, I'd say drop that $500 on a GeForce 6800 256MB card.  Then later you can always bump up the processor/memory etc.  I think that would get you the most performance increase out of those components.
