Sooo looks like a normal talent tree...... What did ya expect? Please make us a telent tree that people understand that looks different then any other and post a screen shot please! Maybe they look similar (not even close to identical) but it fullfills its role, its easy to read, understand, and gives alot of info. Please think before you post.

Three trees. Which you start getting at level 10.

I bet it looks like i'm trolling, but I'm not. Are they even trying?

But.... it's got weird looking Greek letter counters at the bottom instead of numbers though...

In LOTR, you unlock your "talents" by different in game actions. Improved Ability? Use it X amount of times. Resistance to poison? Kill 1000 poison ridden spiders. Then you equip those, once unlocked, into a similar tree.

It wasnt the best, but it was fresh. They tryed.

The same trees you get at the same level isn't trying.

Sadly, I don't think anyone is trying these days. Seems like "second best" is the common goal now.

Actually, that's 2 trees for the class and 1 tree general to each "categories" I beleive.

And like someone said. I doubt you could do better at finding a better idea than that.

  • ElectriceyeElectriceye Member UncommonPosts: 1,171

Trolls really ran out of ideas! Good to hear.

And like someone said. I doubt you could do better at finding a better idea than that.

I could probably name off about 10 good ideals that suit the lore more, but I doubt you actually want to hear them.  While I personally have no issue with people using things that worked well in past games, and this isn't exactly a deal breaker for me regardless, I have to admit...its just one more example of how much AoC is geared to be like WoW when all of my hopes rode on the differences it was supposed to have.  Ahhh...PvP mini-games, Raiding geared for top-tier loot, original PvP gear designed on a tier system for earnings, talent trees....hell, why not just go full force and make the game run on 10 year old PC's kicking with nothing but DOS lol.

I exaggerated, I digress, but I do enjoy doing so.  Naturally the two games do have differences...and for the sake of decency I'm not going to use the "Guild Wars" examples here.  I will say that my expectations have been soundly dashed about the matter though...and that I fully expect the game to draw no more players than LoTR did.  Which, by all standards, would make it a success...except that I'm talking about top end figures and not absolute potential.  So, it'll be niche...and not even niche in the good way.  Niche in the "God I wish I had a game just like WoW, but pretty" way and that makes me sad.

Realizing this makes me wonder what LoTR even is then.  I guess it was a touch prettier than WoW.  Perhaps AoC will be the death of THAT game...wouldn't that be interesting?  It would serve them right for even including such horrid PvP in the game.  I'm sure that AoC will at least get THAT part remotely right...even if it IS a touch bland from normalcy.

    I don't understand.. what's this complaint about?

I like talent trees.. a lot of others seam to agree.

I also like achievements like EQ1 and EQ2, but OOOOH NOOO if FC did that.. they'd be coping EQ as well huh?

*sigh* trolls running out of fuel for their fire I see

i know the talent trees are exactly the same....

seriously tho rather than trolling or whatever your doing go and actually look at the talent trees for more than 5 minutes - you might notice things (like the fact that there is almost double the feats available in WoW for starters) that actually make the systems quite different...having a shared tree for each subclass is also the same as WoW right? <wrong>

and b4 you start with the more isn't different thing..yea having two piles of gold is a little different than having one...

    PS - this thread fails

I play a lot of games...

They're a business trying to make money.

More like: having two piles of shit is exactly the same. Unless you're a manure salesmen.

More isn't better. The way these trees are set up(the fact that it takes more points to progress down the further you), the higher tiered skills will quickly be tested, and all but the best never used.

Theres a reason why "builds" become popular. Sure, you have lots of choices, but once you figure out which of these "choices" suck.. it becomes nothing but common sense. More choices won't change that.

Exactly, thanks for proving my point.

You can't call a game NEXT GEN unless you redesign the wheel. They're not interested in becoming the next gen, they're interested in making money.

Uh, so hopefully you realize that blizzard talent tree design isnt even original.  Go do some research, it is copied from other things that existed long before MMOs, they just adapted it.

Also who cares?  So what if it looks the same, if it aint broke dont fix it.  Thats like telling tire manufacturers to come up with new shapes for tires because someone else used the traditional round shape first.

Never said it was, and irrelevant.

Point being: you can't preach that youre the next generation of MMOs when your own fanbase comes around with the defense: "More of the same, if it ain't broke don't fix it".

It might not be next-gen, though it's a step forward in many ways, and talent trees are NOT one of the massive improvements. Also could you please link where FC sais that AoC is a next-gen MMO it's been a while since I read that, thx.

    qft!

Okay, so they got a talent tree. I can name a few games with talent trees just like this one. Except the third tree ofc. *editz*

So what's the big deal? It's easy to use. It works well, i doubt they have the exact numbers like any other mmo, they have 3 skill trees where one is shared. Haven't really seen that before. So meh. What are you trolling about really?
