I'm a bit confused. i was in open beta but didnt try as many characters as some guys here. some say they are unbalanced. maybe that's true. we will all know that after we reach lv80. maybe some are late bloomrs.
still, if u need to take an educated guess: can you rank the 12 classed from 1 to 12 in terms of PVE (solo and groups/raids) and PVP?

C'Mon man. Its impossible till lots of people are max. level and do raids and sieges.
But I would like to know a little about the feel of different classes, maybe that is easier to answer? Any takers?
I can't really give you what you ask since i have only played one char, but i can give my impresions of him.
Played Bear Shaman,
Can create some heavy blows but starting to get abilities that suggest he can create low threat to a mob and provide great buffs to party members through combat and combos. He seems pretty week in survival so far with 2 mobs at same level sometimes being to much for him without having any extra health, stamina and mana buffs.
So far he weilds a two handed Mace and you really feel like your spliting heads when you swing it at people!

Bear Shaman and Dark Templar seem to be the uber classes.
Demo should be and will be one of the best DPS classes. So I would suggest you to put it much higher at least in PVE.
He listed the classes alphabetically.
Having played most of them one thing I can conclude at least for me - HoX are "TeH FAIL"
FUNCOM - putting the FUN in disFUNctional !
I wouldn't say HoX is the fail in PvE.
My level 13 HoX crits for almost 400 where my level 13 Conq crits for lil over 100.
But they sure is a papertank/cannon.They are dead very fast because of their low HP's.Not sure how they are later on but i heard they bloom late.

It really comes down to play style and personal trial and error.
The three classes I thought I would enjoy playing the most: Bear Shaman, Barbarian and Dark Templar ended up for me personally being the least enjoyable to level up and play at earlier levels.
I enjoyed Guardian and Conqueror, as well as Assassin. Priest of Mitra was surprisingly fun for me, having trouble deciding between that and Tempest of Set as my primary Priest class for Retail.
I wasn't expecting to like Demonologist, but I leveled it as part of the leveling contest and I really liked the way the class played. I might play it in retail, but will test it out more in the lvl20+ phase of Open Beta.
Herald of Xotli is challenging. I leveled to 13 twice (first time was my first character to 13, later deleted and tried again after getting to know the game better). I actually enjoy the class and it fits my playstyle well. I didn't PvP though, so I don't know how gimped it is there.
I haven't tried Ranger or Necromancer, so I have no input there.
One thing I definitely learned is that the way a class "looks on paper" may not give a good representation for some people as to how well the class will actually fit their playstyle. I really disliked the feel of the three classes going in I expected to like the most. If you play and find you aren't digging the game much, definitely try other classes, because the game play does feel different depending on the class you play.
Caveat though, I'm sure the play experience for each class can change beyond 13, probably quite a bit in some cases...
