I am looking for a game that I can play casually, that doesnt make you loot farm for top equipment. In fact the less improtance on equipment the better.
I also want to be able to play solo. I know, doesnt fit MMORPG by definition, but I want to be able to wander around by myself then maybe be able to join up with people for some PvP or quests, I just dont want that to be required to keep up.
I dont care if it takes time to level up as long as it doesnt FEEL like a grind.
Ive been thinking of trying CoX or going back to UO, but I havent decided as neither one of them seems to be screaming out to me but may be the best fit.
Any ideas?

Looks like your looking for a sandbox kind of MMO.
You may want to look at EvE online, and perhaps to a lesser degree SWG.
Good Luck
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
Ive been on SWG currently. It was this way, but anymore, they started doing a lot more loot farming to get dcent equipment or you have to run instances a bunch of times.
I'm in a decent guild that does the instances but it seems Im interupted so many times by RL stuff, that by the time we get a group together and go to actually do the instance, I feel more like a burdon on my guildmates than a help.
You could try Guild Wars because:
* Items and equipment mean hardly anything. It's your skills that count.
* Instant travel allows you to do what you need to do without waiting an age to get there.
* The low level cap of 20 means that you won't have to grind at all. Levels mean nothing to be honest.
* You can hire NPC henchmen and customize NPC heroes to take along with you if you prefer that to grouping with other people.
* Lots of different types of PvP, plus a long PvE campaign filled with quests and missions to keep you busy.
* No monthly fee once you've bought the box.
If you're not up for Guild Wars, you could try a sandbox game like Eve Online mentioned above, though it does take quite some time to get things done in Eve. The Saga of Ryzom would also have been a good choice for you, but the servers are currently shut down at the moment.
I just might give Guildwars a shot,a dn maybe CoX if anyone has any input on that. Ive been reading around the forums and it sounds interesting but Guildwars does sound good given the F2P, dont feel like I HAVE to play it to get my moneys worth.
Mabinogi may be a good option. It's really easy to get into and doesn't feel like a grind to level since they provide a good variety of quests for players to do. The community is awesome and it's free-to-play. There's no emphasis placed on the armor and weapons with the exception to which weapon to use and players are free to level whatever class they please (mage spells, warrior combat) in a Pre-NGC SWG fashion. The only purpose of the equipment is to look nice. It's possible to solo many dungeons yourself if you're high enough a level.
As a former CoX player, you definitely do not want to play that game. The game is a massive grind. I recommend trying their 14 day free trial.
Let it be known that I hate WoW with a passion and will defend almost any MMORPG against it.

You should try Lord of the Rings Online. Very casual and solo friendly. Its about the journey and the story not getting the best gear and endgame.
