What Rated"M" Means to you

To me it means "This game is not for those under 17" Isn't that what it Normaly means?
Well to some it seems like it means "Only Smart Asses and Elitest should play this game"
what do you think it means when it comes to Games.

What's with the "smart asses and elietists line"? I really don't get where that's coming from.
Unfortunately, to most people who don't pay attention to the ratings system, i beleive (now this is just my opinion) this attracts young to mid age teens. It's in their nature to like the M rating and do things which can cause bragging. Howm any times as a kid did you sneak into an R rated movie and brag about it with your friends? Or when GTA came out (i was in my early years of HS when the first came out) and had your friends over to show it off? I did. While as a parent today, i wouldn't expose my kids to it, the sad fact is that they will get their hands on it for this reason. Hell GTA was the hottest game in my HS when i was there, and i was below the age required to pick it up. I went right into the store, and bought it, noone asked my age or cared.
Seriously, we are not talking about Frasier here.

just on another note....i HATE leet speakers............despise them......abhor even. General chat has been full of them in game, so while M rating may mean mature, it usually has the opposite effect.
Thats why I'm hoping they put a set of gigantic bare boobs of the front of the box so that when mom see's what jr is trying to by she says, "hell no". Then dad sneaks back to the store and buys it later for himself
The "M" rating is a ploy. Go "AO" or don't.
Unfortunately age has nothing to do with maturity these days. I have seen some Twelve year olds that are more mature than some Thirty year olds. I really enjoy AoC but I do fear that the "M" rating is going to bring out the worst in the community. . .Hopefully the ignore list has no limits.

LOL, agreed, my 15 year son (who will be playing) has more maturity than many of the posters here have from what I can tell.

I found Disneys Toontown to have the MOST mature community of any MMORPG I have played. . .
Of course, this was a several years ago, and I was just using the trial version, so no one could actually say anything other than use the built in emote system for communicating, plus they couldnt strip down to their characters underwear and grind on other peoples characters.
As far as the AoC community, I imagine the PVP servers will have the bottom of the barrel of humanity if its like other MMORPGs on the market., with the minority being the exception.

Hopefully after two or three weeks most of the immature people will have lost interest in running around topless yelling "BOOBIES" and leave the game to those who actually want to play it.
On a side note after reading my quote from miagisan I was agreeing with you but I should have worded differently. . .I did come off kinda pushy sorry
