Hello all. I am not all that computer savy and I think I made a big mistake.
I bought a monitor.

and have a computer on the way with this video card. Or something similar.

Now in my haste to get the monitor I went for price and this one was a bit cheaper than another one that looked similar, well I got it here and found out it doesn't have a dvi connector and only a vga and the other one does have a dvi. /facepalm Now I am stuck with this monitor, I believe after looking at the return policy, so what are my options? I don't want to spend a lot more money but I would like as good a quality picture as possible.
Thanks for any help you can give me.

you can get a converter. it will convert dvi to vga. may be one coming with the pc you bought.
Get a DVI to VGA adapter?
Most video cards come with one in the box, and if yours doesn't come with one, you can get them for a few bucks at any decent computer shop.
I don't think you'll notice any picture quality difference between pure DVI and adapted VGA.

Ahh so there wont be too big a difference in picture quality with a converter?
I don't believe so.
I had two monitors at work, with one on adapted VGA and the other on DVI and never really noticed a difference between the picture qualities.
If you want to use pure DVI you'll need a monitor with a DVI connector, which means returning the one you have that doesn't have one.
I think thats more hassle than its worth for an infinitessimal increase in picture quality.

Ohh Ohh, I always found the DVI converter to VGA bulky, and potentially dangerous to the port. I recommend one of the wires that goes from DVI to DSub with no need for the converter.
Ok I found this....

Is that what I am going to need for dvi to d-sub?
Thank you all for your help.
Hello Arathelle, yes that cable will work just fine. The monitor you posted supports analog DV-I/A so there's no problem there, just make sure not to rip the pins out of the cord.
