Im building a PC purely for AoC..problem is I never built one before and I haven't a clue what parts to purchase.
I'm lookin for a gaming computer. On the scale of 1 -10; I'd like an 8.5 or 9.
Need help choosing:
MOBO
Chipset
Case
Thanks!

How much do you want to spend on it?
You gotta tell us what you've chosen already, cant recommend a mobo if you don't tell me which graphics card you'll have.
I have 2 8600 GT cards I'll link together.
Price isn't that much of a problem, but I dont want the absolute highend stuff.; waste of money imo. Probably the 2nd or 3rd best mobo/cpu combo would suffice.
THanks
I got my pc from cyberpower.com, it was actually cheaper to get it from here than getting the parts from newegg and building it yourself, I had 10% discount and free shipping and 3 year warranty.
you should go for 8800 instead of 8600 its much better.
Case is pretty easy. Thermaltake make some excellent cases (I have the Soprano).
So Basically you want to know what motherboard to buy? I would say ASUS P5N-D. My buddy got it and SLI's 2 8800GTs and works nicely.
If you have a AMD CPU, I would buy a E8400 along with it since the board is INTEL/nVidia.
2 8600GT = 1.2 8800GT.
OK so we have 1 setup suggested. Thanks. Im not upgrading the video cards yet. Just the mobo/cpu/case.
if it was for me i would buy:
motherboard: DFI lanparty x38-t2r
cpu: E8400 for dual , or Q6600 95w for quad
case: lian-li pc-7b plus II , (edit: you can buy a side window as well, if you like that and dont like modding yourself)
all that doesnt cost to much money either
m8 you have to give more info, tbh running sli you will only see real improvement with a 24"screen for higher res, also you could do better using your cash on other system specs and going single card like the 8800gt or 8800gts.more is not always better.
If someone had came up to me in 1980 when I was on my Atari 2600 and said we will be playing games with thousands of people at the same time.I guess my response would have been,"but I only have 2 joysticks"

Asus RoG series motherboards are the best games boards on the market at the moment, from the 680 striker extreme, the 780 striker II formula ( northbridge runs very hot on this board ) and up to the 790 striker II extreme which would be a waste of money for the cards you have. The 680 would do you just fine, it's a very fast, reliable board. One word of advice if you go for one of these however is to ensure that you unplug the power cord and wait a minute for the capacitors to discharge before making any hardware changes, adding extra ram etc. as these boards are very sensitive to EM damage. Note that I am advising an Nvidia chipset here as you have two cards to link in SLi, if you only had one card I would be advising an Intel chipset.
As for cpu, any of the intel quad cores really, Q6700 and up.
oops, forgot the case: I have one of these http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=628084 but just black without the Nvidia logos. Excellent case but a bit on the pricey side.
I already have the 2 8600GT...that is why I am not going to upgrade the video card.
Thanks eric.
A friend of mine has a 6600 and loves it. I def want to get something better like the 6700 as you mentioned though.
Any seconds for:
6700 CPU
Asus 680 MoBo?
AMD Phenom 9750 2.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 125W 65nm Quad-Core Processor - Retail
Anyone have info on this? Thinking getting the Asus 780i w/ above..
I presume that you mean this one http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/ProductInfo.asp?WebProductID=787075 and if so go for the Phenom 9850 black edition which has an unlocked multiplier for more overclocking goodness
