I log in on their website and try to enter the exclusive content and early access code yet it doesnt take it. Do i need to make a new account for the retail version?

Having the same problem here. Cannot find a solution so far. The beta accounts user names don't work for the normal forums only the beta forums. Anyone else having this trouble or know of a solution?

Unless they delete all the beta account information out of their system then you will need to use a different account name.  HOWEVER, you can basically have a "master" account and then "child" accounts for each game tied to the master account (similiar to plaync).  If you've created a beta account then by default this is your "master" account and you can create a new retail child account attached to it.

Its a bit annoying mostly because it isn't very clear thats how their system works.  I've had my AO account name for years (including time  away from the game) but because that was the first account i had created with them its my primary login but i had to build another account (while logged in) for my early start registration.

I suppose you could wait a few days (its almost a week before headstart anyway) and see if they change things (unlikely) or purge the database (also unlikely) of beta account information.  Although I suppose if there were enough people complaining that the system was hokey perhaps they would purge or at least add a way to turn your beta account into a retail account.

    Best o' Luck

EDIT: Meh, I just realized I'm probably talking about something totally different after reading your question.  I'm not sure now.

The long and the short of it is, yes, you need to make an account. The beta account info does not transfer over to retail.

Funcom is odd in some aspects as to how they set things up. I was able to use my Funcom account login (thankfully I remembered the PW) from AO, then choose subscription options for AoC.

my  pvp beta weekend account got canked but my AO account (which had the same name somehow) is still there....I just had to create a 'child' account  like you said attached to my AO account.  took the code fine. a bit strange though.
