I know there have been a mess of threads like this. But after searching I've not seen much mentioned about my computer specs.
Here's a copy of my specs from directx (If I use incorrect names for something I apologize, since I'm not really familiar with alot of these slangs now)
Windows XP Office (XP basically )
Processor: Intel Pentium D CPU 3.20ghz
Ram: 4gigs
Graphic Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GTX
I'd like to be able to play this game on higher settings. I know for some crowded areas I won't be able to, but I was told I should be able to run it pretty smoothly and stuff with good graphic settings. I just wanted to be sure
Thanks

I basically have the same computer that you do, only 2 gig ram though and a 3.4 ghtz processor and a Radeon 1900x crossfire. Im pretty sure both of our systems will be able to run the game without too many problems. Ill come back on and let you know how my PC does though once I run it this Saturday.
should be able to run it on atleast medium no problem. And I can't tell enough of a diffrence between medium and high to warrent worrying about not being able to play on high settings.
Oh, is the video card atleast 512mb? completly diffrent story if it isn't.
You might get away playing this on medium settings. I wouldn't say high settings would be a good idea. But really i wouldn't expect to run AoC smoothly with those specs on anything but low setting.......but on the bright side...low settings on AoC still looks god damn amazing!

The thing to remember is that medium and high are relative terms. Just because you have the game set to medium doesn't mean you can't tweak su tuff you like. On medium, you can push up the ground detail and see all the waving wheat that sure smells sweet when the blood comes right before the raaaaaaiinnnn......You're lookin' fine Aquilonia.....Aquilonia OKAY!'
*cough* Sorry it's the side of me that feels the need to sing musicals at the top of my lungs when no one is around.
Generally though, you get the idea. Medium is a far cry from stinky poo-poo.
My specs a little bit better than yours.
Vista Home
AMD X2 4400, 2.3 ghz
4 gigs of ram
Geforce 7950 X2
And I could only run the game on low with roughly 25 fps when I was out by myself in the solo instanced areas, and around 10 fps when I was with other players or in town. Now I am not sure if I was one of the many people who had performance problems when they shouldn't have, but open beta definitely help me decide to wait at least a month after release to try the game out.
Also, it should be noted that I take excellent care of my PC.
The computer im on right now, can't even play the beta. In a Week or two i'm getting a new one. so if its in two weeks ill have the game+ my mammoth key. trying to get a computer with a graphics card lower then 8600gt xxx so i don't waste any money and 1gig lol so im set for a semi good computer as of now. but im using now is a 2002 model, no PCI-E slots.
@ Lexloci
Ah yeah, my video memory meets that too.
Thanks for the help everyone, although that 25 fps worries me o_o

"Better then yours" is subjective. AoC, while multithreaded really only makes use of one core (about 80% of the processes). Which puts 3.2 single core above a 2.3 quad. And last I knew didn't support sli so that second card isn't adding much perfomance.I'm fairly confident you'll be able to run the retail version on medium with that rig easy (unless you use a huge resolution). I think most of the people saying it'll run poor have experience from open beta, and it's been confirmed retail will be much more stable and refined.

THe pentium D is much worse than a core 2.

I think his point was that the game doesn't make as much use out of the other processor so it evens out. >_>@ Lexloci
Thank you! I really hope you're right. My resolution is like 1200x1020 or something. Not sure if that's huge-shrug-
the beta did not have support in for dual or quad core processors, this is something that is supposed to be in at release, so the multicore processors will have an advantage (if it is in fact in there)
Never posted here before...but I've been wondering the same thing about my computer, figured id post my specs here instead of popping up another thread -
Windows XP
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
2.2 GHz
2 GB
NVIDIA GeForce 6100 (working on replacing this, already figured out this won't work)
If i left anything out, let me know...
---Thanks
EDIT: NVM...made a new thread, wasn't getting any replies
.:[K]jack:.
i played the open beta with these specs
Pentium D 3.00 GHz
2048MB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 512 mb
i played on the lowest settings and at first i was getting really bad fps about 15 in the solo parts and 2-5 in town. After a few days i upgraded my drivers to the 174 beta drivers and my preformance was much better about 30 fps when i was by myself and 18 when i was in town. Not the best preformance but it was playable at least. I figure if get a new vid card it would run much smoother.
Also tried it out on my laptop, its a duo core processor(forget the GHz #)
2048MB RAM
NVIDIA Geforce Go 7950 GS 256 mb
It played poorly on the laptop untill the last patch, then it wouldn't even start. Would help if gateway would release some new drivers for it, the ones i'm using are about 2 years old and i can't find new ones for my particular Geforce card anywhere.
