Do NOT pre-order from GameStop/EB Games!

I pre-ordered AoC from GameStop MONTHS ago. They asked me for my phone number, so they could call me when the pre-order goodies came in. Well, guess what, they never called. I went down to check today, and the manager was a total jerk. He tried to blame corporate for me not getting a phone call. Supplies are limited, and they were all out. So basically I got screwed out of my early access, my in-game items, and the book (which I did not care as much about) even though I ordered WAY before most people.

Right now I am hunting around for someone to pre-order from that still has some pre-order goodies left. I am pissed at Funcom as well for limiting the virtual incentives. I can understand limiting the physical books, but the in-game items cost them nothing to mass-produce, and if the servers can't handle letting all the pre-orders on early, what the HELL is going to happen at release when everyone comes flooding in?

I tried a pre-order from GoGamer.com, but I have to WAIT for an e-mail to tell me if they are out of keys or not. They don't have a notice on their site. I can only hope that because they digitally distribute their codes (rather than physically) that they have a more abundant supply of them. If not I will be cancelling that preorder as well.

Why does every company feel the need to burn the people who are giving them GOBS of money BEFORE their game comes out? If I am going to pay for something that far in advance I expect VIP treatment.

This is absurd. Shame on everyone involved, and thanks for ruining what should have been a good time for me.

Cool. Hopefully GoGamer still has them. This is the last time I pre-order anything at a physical store. I am going down to GameStop tomorrow to cancel ALL my pre-orders for several upcoming games. I've officially had it with brick and mortar.

I preordered from gamestop and they called me the day it arrived and gave me free shit that they got in from other games too. I guess your gamestop is just full of (insert angry word here)'s. The one i went to was really cool and the guys were as polite and nice as could be. Maybe dont attack their whole company but instead just set out to get that one guy fired or something.... just an idea.

Don't order from a local "brick and mortar" shops. EBgames.com has worked flawlessly for me for years. Always get pre-order items and shipping has always been spot on. I've even got items the day before release on a few items (using next day).

Over here in Oklahoma I waited way too long to preorder. I decided to call my local gamestop on sunday around 5 pm and he told me That if I didn't come in within the next 2 hours I would miss out on the early access and Mammoth mount code. Sure enough when I got there, I preordered age of conan, and he gave me the last code which was actually still attached to the coardboard backing.

I suppose I was just extremely lucky, but I seem to see no issues here, unless of course they don't have my preorder when I come in on the 20th to pick it up. If that happened, I would end up going berserk on them, most likely.

I noticed that ebayers are auctioning theirs off for around $20 or more.. if you're desperate and there are no other legitimate pre orders left.

Thats a bummer man. I ordered from EB Games but knew better then to trust them to call me and I was aware about the limited amount first come first serve crock. So I called them almost daily and spoke directly to the manager to see if they came in. I think many who pre-ordered are just planning to pick up their game on release day and find the pre-order card and or goodies attached and they wont be there. I think they should be set aside for the pre-orders taken first. Then only release the leftovers and others if game not picked up after few days of release. I'm passing on the 3 day head start as I played the OB and will never out level some of those peeps so I could have held off the trip to pick up my pre-order card but I had a feeling things like this would happen. I feel for ya. Hope it all works out.

I pre-ordered from gamestop, i got the book the Day I pre-ordered and the code a week or so ago. I had to go back and ask about it, I didnt get a phone call. But I did get my pre=order goodies. On the other hand if i had known i could get a Bow by pre-ordering at Amazon instead of  a mount I would have done that

Yep there seems to be alot of companies dropping the ball on this.

I pre-ordered months ago with bol.com(dutch company)they had the rhino mount and the(then)3day headstart, which is now 6 day heastart in europe,at the weekend sent an e-mail asking when the codes would be sent so I could d/l the client in plenty of time,I just recieved an email this morning saying"your code will be sent just before your game is shipped I hope that answer's your question"

Well no it bloody doesnt,it seem's I wont be getting the headstart they promised if they are only going to send the email just before they ship the game, guess its the 23rd for me then.

I pre ordered the collectors edition and I still have no code from Gamestop. I have spent a long time trying to even find an email address to contact someone regarding this issue.

I bought this the day it was offered. What a joke.

Hope other companies look at this as an example how not to make a pre order offer!

Can you get the 3-day headstart code with the BestBuy preorder?

It has been said many times m8 that you have to pay $5 to d/l the client for early access.

I pre-ordered with Amazon.co.uk, people thought I was getting a raw deal with the bow. However Amazon have always been good to me, never screwed me over, delivered exactly what I ordered on time and undamaged. So I'm always going to pre-order with them, I just don't see the point in ordering from someone else right now. Who knows, my Amazonian bow might be able to PWN your crappy mount in PvP :P

It could be worse I had to pay £4.49 ($9( to get into the early entry in the UK, I only paid up because I got the game so cheap (£15) as they dropped the price around Xmas time to generate pre-orders.

I ordered auto assault from GameStop and they were terrible with the pre-order codes, and it didn't help as I was an international customer on top.

Could be better news for us brits in the UK as Best Buy is partnering up with the Carphone warehouse to start opening shops over here, could be some good offers when that happens as all the other game shops will have some real competition.

    wow...

for a game that's so "borked", it certainly seems sales are brisk.

And the $5 includes an extra 10 days paid game time so for US dollars, that's the same trade as $15 a month. Once you add the CD-Key from the box you are effectively covered for 40 days.

I ordered from the brick and mortar version of Gamestop. They very politely told me that they were NOT calling for the pre-order keys but that they would call when the game/box came out. I called them every couple of days earlier in the month and their pre-order keys came in maybe 2 weeks ago now. They had a stack of key cards set aside for those who had put the game on hold. The guy checked my receipt and gave me my two cards (I bought one for my brother).

A couple days ago, I called them about something else and they told me they had plenty of keys left and would I like to do a pre-order/reserve on the phone to hold one.

*shrug* Not all service locations are built in the same model. Poor management, especially in franchises often leads to poor overall service. I'm sorry to those folks who got hit badly.

(Lol I was thinking of starting a 'premium re-sale' service. Buy the game and card and offer to ship it to people who pay me via Paypal or something. Joking!)

Since i'm from Sweden i ordered from Game.se, ordered the collector's edition, got it next day on my e-mail.

I ordered online from Gamestop last week.  I got my email with my key 2 days ago.

Do pre-orders online, not through your local store.  Most of the goofs who work at the stores either screw something up or keep/sell early access/promo keys.

Don't worry mate.  Just get your money back, go to Best Buy.  Pre-order boxes are flooding the store shelves.  As a bonus, you get extra storage space and a WAR RHINO.  Consider yourself lucky you didn't get the gamestop version.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
