I'll say it right here and right now...
The ONLY chance that "Darkfall" will ever see the light of day is if the old "Mourning" devs buy it and release the game.
Think about it. They have first hand experience in releasing a game full of ridiculous hype and total BS promises that will never come true. And unlike Adventurine... they have the actual BALLS to actually release it, even if it's far from ready.
..You heard it here first.

Sounds like a plan
Darkfall will never get released if it is handed over to some scamware developers.
Or Farlan?
Farlan has even more balls considering they rebilled people like 100x times even when their accounts were cancelled. lol
AND were using stolen engine technology.
It's genius! We get Farlan AND the Mourning devs to work together! This plan cannot fail!

Nice avatar. That made me chuckle.
Darkfall will never be released it is and was a test project and still is don't worry about it.
Playing: Everthing
Played: DAoC,AC2,EvE,SWG,WAR,MXO,CoX,EQ2,L2,LOTRO,SB,UO,WoW.
I have played every MMO that has ever come out.
It obviously seems to need a big investment from somewhere.....

Through lack of things to do you are the one creating the hype, from what I can see Aventurine are pretty understated and level headed. I see no massive advertising campaigns if they exist point me in the direction, hype where I see a website stating the concept and features to be included in the game they are developing.
Strange!

The hype is entirely thanks to the thousands of gamers that are in love with the feature list Darkfall offers. I had no idea there were so many people that are incapable of following a game in development without becoming absolutely obsessed with it. If you don't think it's going to come out, then go and do whatever you usually do, check back every month or so, and chill out. If you love the idea of Darkfall, then do what I do; Check the forums daily (or whenever you get a chance) to see if there's any new, interesting discussions (I've been following since 2003 and still manage to find at least a thread a day worth having a look at). Most importantly, I sit back, chill out, get on with my life and don't waste away, babbling absolute bullshit in threads in an attempt to put people off the game.
Darkfall screenshots are looking good and updates are pretty regular (and have been for the past couple of years) for a game that's *apparently* going to be canned soon. If an update is missing, we recieve a note from a dev explaining there will be a delay and they'll release it the week after.
Until Aventurine announce the cancellation of Darkfall, we can all assume it's still in development and set for release as soon as the dev team deem it ready for public viewing. They WON'T release until they believe it's ready. I personally think if the project was going to fail, we would have heard about it by now. But, of course, I'm sure you'll just call me a deluded fanboy!
Aventurine (Tasos) annunced that DFO will be released this year. I see 3 main outcomes:
1) they don't release, and they lose the few last credebility they still have.
2) they release and the game sucks (it is not what each of you have in your mind).
3) they release and the games it's a good game (accomplish to deliver a nice percentage of what each of you desire from it)
I hope for the last one. As I said in other posts, I hope DFO, AoC, WAR and all the incoming games end up being amazing games so I have more choices to chose from. I wish the best to all of them.
From all the dev journals, this last one was (imho) the only one to contain something useful for me: a deadline. 12/31/2008 it's Aventurine deadline to give ALL they promised to their potential customers.
I heard SOE was buying it and finishing it.
why worry? wtf are you talking about?
THAT is the kind of thing that would put me off Darkfall.... Not a few missed deadlines!
SOE doesn't even know Darkfall exists , let alone want to buy it.
I put the big money down on #1
SOE tends to kill MMO's.
