This thread bored me after the seventh post, but I will answer anyway.

I have a 96 average in school, my worst subject being whatever science I happen to take. I swim, play Rugby, and hang out with my friends. I also play games around 5 hours a day.

Sound impossible? It is for you, mortal.

hehe...I am the Fallen citizen I guess...

I see folks around me have a RL...work hard...then died of cancer at 40 and never enjoy life...that day I stop been serious about work, and figure work would pass LAST. image  Unless I like work a lot, which was not the case.  What is the point to work hard and then never enjoy life?

I have always been lonely, to self center to bear someone in my life I guess, it was work, now it is just pastime...anyway, better alone then with the wrong person...so maybe 1 day. But no rush on this.

The only thing that matter more then enjoying life is:  Your health.  This mean you need to sleep, to eat, to maintain nice relationships with your surrounding.  That hardly mean it need to be regular, if sleeping 4 hours twice in a day work well for you, go ahead. :)  You feel sleepy at 16:00, who care, go to bed. :)

As for current work, I find a ghetto job that allow me to do 16 hours of work(8 last that I can sleep or surf the internet or whatever, as long as I am there), then rest 8 hours(usually not sleep, just resting or doing very lazy stuff), then 16 hours...then whole week to enjoy life! :)  (took me a year to get this scheduled, it was much more irregular for a long time, and I almost always arrange folks that need replacement, what is the difference between 1 day or another, dont care to work on saturday or sunday or monday, all the same, if anything, working on saturday leave you more empty servers when you play, which is usually good to get a group going and nice hunting options).

When a game is motivating, 80h of gaming is not hard to get, and weird hours as well...but feel sleepy, I am off and sleep unless there is something that really matter...to come back when I awake.

Work more?  Bah, I have the basics I need...get involved?  Errr, at 30 there is not much nice stuff available on the free market if you get what I mean, been alone is not that bad at all, nope, not bad at all!

Tomorrow I can be dead of cancer or attacked by some lowlifes jerk that is angry at society and bump on my life, rather enjoy life today, tomorrow is another day, if it can be nice, so good, but not at the expense of today.

Having good results in studies while harvesting tons of time in gaming?  I guess it is possible, but the person need to be a genious and would prolly have invented something deadly brilliant if focused on his studies instead!  But again, what would be the point of inventing stuff if you are miserable and not enjoying life? image

I see folks buy cars...err...I rather take the bus then work 10 hours a week to pay for a car that will save me 6 hours of bus lazy sitting per week and open a few options that end up much more expensive then calling a taxi for my very rare needs, not to mention that calling a taxi now and then make you feel all important LOL...no thanks for the car, I pass, and greenpeace give me hugs all the time for this!  Of course, if I would have a family, maybe the story will be different...

Nah.  Gaming is a well wasted life!  image  Dont be sad, I aint sad myself! image

As long as you enjoy it, there is nothing wrong with giving gaming to much importance!

I see folks that work hard and that get drunken 10 times a year or more because they are unhappy(they dont drink because they party, they drink because they are unhappy), they make me sad. image

We only have 1 life and we need to enjoy it.  Be it work, family, a silly little game, just enjoy it!  No part 2 if you dont! image

Of course if you find something you think I will enjoy more, be my guest and show me!  But work, family, drinking, party or whatever RL is for you is not as fun as gaming is to me. image

Work to live, not live to work.  When at work, my business is to get my job done.  If I have any extra time or I just need a break, I might take a peek at messageboards or read up more on whatever game I'm interested in.  Same with school.  Playing a game that I will lose interest in sometime in the near future is less important than a school record that will follow me around for a lifetime.  Of course I always do have to set some time off to play MMOGs.  I usually try to get a few hours in four or five times a week.

The key to all of it is to budget your time, as many of the other comments had said. You basically just have to learn what is good for you and waht isn't. If there is a decision on whether to study or whether to play a game, I would hope you choose to study if you need to. I have gotten decent grades throughout highschool, about a 90 overall. Many hours during the past four years of high school have been spent on gaming. The best thing that I had oging for me was to do all of my homework/schoolwork/projects in school or out of the house. If I try to do those things in my house, I usually end up taking long breaks to gain a level or increase a skill or what not. I'm sure this happens to many people. Ya know, you go on the computer to research something and you wind up talkign to people or playing a game or checking boards, whatever. I think the best thing is to get all of your work done, outside of the home, such as on the bus, in the car(NOT while driving...), in boring classes, in between classes, free periods, after school, and even at the LIBRARY*(really good, you get a lot done, basically because theres nothing else to do). So thats pretty much my advice. Make sure you prioratize things, because there will always be a better, bigger, and cooler game that comes out, that will make you abandon your old games, so maybe all that work people put into it is futile. I mean, unless you have some kind of dream job like GM, or game tester haha. In addition, when you play games, time goes a lot faster than you think. Play games when you want to lose time, not when you want to preserve it. Don't let life pass you bye, but hey, still have fun =)

Games I've been rediculiously addicted to:
Starcraft, Warcraft, yada.. all of those damn amazing blizzard games
    Ultima Online
    Diablo & Diablo 2
    Asherons Call
    A Tale in the Desert
    Counter-Strike
    Outpost
and most recently, Risk Your Life
probably forgetting one too =/(Oh yeah, been playing Doom 3 too) (this isn't including console games)

Summary: Budget your time, and don't do your work at home =) Just remember to eat and sometiimes sleep.
