I have just finished trying out this "Game" Honestly it seems so bugged
and crashes so often, the buying and selling system seems to just want to make you travel in space for hours, I got bored, you cant even kill your own charecter, well only by not joining, I enjoyed trying it though, it was so nice to see my machine crash
so many times in the space of an hour

Here's how to kill yourself:
Self-destruct ship ---> Self-destruct pod. It's in the menu when you right click on your ship while in outer-space.

We've have had EVE on our system since April '03 and we probably have had about 5 crashes.

who is we?...just wondering... kinda sounds like you skitso(spellling...)
So....How exactly is that going to help with the Time it takes to travel 22 jumps, just to get some sucky cargo, like a report.
C'mon, What kinda backwards universe is this where, the only way to get a print out is to travel 40000 au's
On the contrary this game is fairly bug free when compared to other MMOs. Heck, back in beta I was amazed at the level of bug-free...itude.
Now that I'm back...again...even less bugs.
Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

Learn evasive manuveuring (sp), afterburners, and microjump skill. I can travel at 5000 m/s in the same frigate you're flying where u can only go 250 m/s. Also, each jump takes me 30 seconds...22 jumps is 12 minutes for me. 12 minutes aint bad for about 50,000 isk.
lol, this is what I mean when people claim to have aspects of this game as bugged..... it isnt bugged, it's called you haven't spent enough time in the game to figure this out yet. Also, if you would ask these two questions ingame to your corpmates, you would get your answer much faster than waiting on the boards

You've been in space too long buddy, a new graphics card won't help me with this, good luck if you are enjoying it.. I didn't.
Did not say buy a new card, I said get yours updated through your manufacturer website for free. If you don't know how to do this, then I am almost positive your issue is your video card driver. Most game these days require you to update your drivers.
The drivers are free.....

hmmm... I crashed regularly when I played.... and a) my drivers were always up to date, b) Eve node drops happen a LOT, c) client stability isnt quite what you are making it out to be.
Whoever said this thing wasn't buggy in beta is sadly mistaken. Do you recall the 70 pop-up windows when you docked? Ok, that's really the only thing that sticks out, but that was definately annoying.
I've been playing this game for several days on my 14 day trial and I've not had a client crash yet. I also haven't needed to buy from anything more than a few hops. So far I've purchased two ships, both frigate class, one is a merlin, the other is a bantum (or whatever the name is) and I've purchased some rocket launchers, missile launchers, and other hybrid slug weapons. Since the game is only 19.99 and the monthly fee is 15, I may play this for a bit. I've cancelled my SWG account and want to try other MMO's. MMORPG.COM is definately helping me find new MMO's, but Eve isn't actually that bad. It feels completely bug free when compared to SWG -- but I'm much more familiar with SWG, so that's not really fair for me to say.
Anyway, I haven't seen the bugs that plagued your client and I hope I never do.
Incidently, I'm using a Radeon 9700 with the 4.6 catalyst (ATi's) drivers. I have an AMD 2600+ cpu. 1GB of DDR333 RAM.
I can say w/o a doubt, where SWG loves the RAM, Eve loves the CPU.
so...
If you want to kill your character, like DELETING it. Then when you log in press the skull in the lower right corner of your character pic
I had problems with my router firewall, but I switched to software firewall and have not had a single problem since.
same here.
A lot of people atumoatically assumes it's the games fault when 8 times outta ten it lies within their computer. I'm sorry, but I cannot buy the fact that that someone gets kicked off due to "server nodes" once every 20 minutes while I was kicked maybe once every 3 months due to a server node going offline problem.
A. Stay out of the game for the first 6 hours after a patch is installed.
B. Don't play right before the server reset in the mornings
C. Update your video card
D. Check your router (if you have one)
Not trying to sund like a smarta$$, but it is usually your hardware and not CCP when things like this happens.

when eve came out, it wasnt the final version. they made it and make fixes as time goes on. there are tons of bugs, but they are starting to fix some of them. hopefully alot will be fixed when shiva comes out.
When half of Eve drops, and I have been on Teamspeak when 80 to 100 people on a node dropped off together, that is not a bloody firewall problem, simple fact is, like almost ALL Multi's out there at the moment CCP released a BETA version of the game. All to often companies are doing this and WHY??? because they know they are popular and if they can milk their subscribers for a year or so they can get the money to finish the game.
Eve is STILL not finished, and wont be for some time, Shiva will add cocntent that was promised a long time ago...... and then we have to go through the usual Bug fest on release.
Mmm... interesting observation Trianon, but I'm afraid practically every MMORPG that has ever existed was released in it's "beta" phase. You have to understand that the vast majority of gaming companies don't have infinite budgets, and leaving a game in beta testing for 4 and a half years just to get every last trivial bug out is foolhardy. Not to mention, a lot of bugs become apparent as soon as a larger player base is introduced.
Just cool down the flames a bit there, Trianon.
lol..this post is just too crazy and to respond to in any way....ah what the heck..only going to say this
Shiva is the second expansion in 14 months....it was never promised a long time ago lol...2 expansions in 14 months is pretty darn good to me. And since their last two expansions were free I highly doubt they're "milking" their subscribers.
Plus, I stand to what I said earlier. I hardly ever had a node drop....it doesnt happen a lot. Besides...their's no consipiracy in CCP jeez louize...

Eve has been a great game for me. I haven't ever been dropped yet and I've been playing for a month. Maybe those who do get disconnected have internet or computer issues individually with their systems. Yes there are some bugs where scanners won't work, or info on something is distorted. These bugs really don't affect the game much after you have been playing for awhile.
I say spend some time playing Eve. It takes time to work out bugs with your own system. It will take time to learn skills that will greatly improve your playing time, like microwarping that adds 500% velocity to your speed. This game is not instant gratification, and for that I praise it.

You are either DREAMING or not playing Eve...... simple as that..... you need to take a reality check.
Eve suffers from regular drops, and once again.... when half the people on TS drop off... it isnt my equipment doing it.
The two(?) expansions packs...... erm.... earth to whoever you are.... the only real expansion was the addition of Tech 2 which even now is still only just getting under way.
Combine that with what can only be described as world beating customer service (these guys could not do a worse job if they actually tried).....
Eve has it's good points, but no way in hell is it worth the rating it has right now.
your arguement is so persuasive, so filled with knowledge and insight. You back up your argument very articulately, with suggestions of improvements and raising examples to glorify your position....oh wait, you didn't
I drop 2 times in a week average, which is NOTHING compared to the 12 other MMORPGs I played... but I guess it depends where you are flying. maybe there are some systems with content in them which makes you "drop the node"...
but if you really drop so often, it is your hardware... get more than 265MB RAM
i have one Gig and a GeForce4 Ti4200 + Athlon 1700+ which is no über system... still EVE runs perfectly on my comp. but then... I have no ATI card and a Soundblaster Audigy 2... ;-) so why should I have any hardware problems ;-)
but: where is the problem? you are on auto-pilot anyway, and when you log in 10 seconds after the drop, nothing has changed...
and Castor was first expansion, SHIVA will be second.
EVE is the most bug free and polished MMORPG out there.
and to ingame: if you are too stupid to buy skills and equipment and ships which make you travel faster, you are too stupid for ANY game. EVE has such a great and helpful community, and the ROOKIE HELP CHANNEL is always populated by 500 helpful players, that you have to be a total moron AND anti-social like hell, if you dont get infos to help you with ANY of your problems FAST.
train learning skills, train navigation for speed, finish the tutorial, and dont shoot at Battleships in an Ibis.
my 2 cents
Luckily, EVE has been designed to keep dweebs like you out. Good luck in Lineage 2.
