Contemplating Return

Hi guys.  I've been out of FFXI for well over two years, and have recently been contemplating return, though I'll probably have to start all over again.  I was just wondering how the game and the people playing have changed since I've been gone (I used to be on Quetzlcoatl); like prices, down time LFG, camping, etc.  Anyways, any info is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I wouldn't come back if I was you. The game seems like it  is dead. Well on my server that is. Seriously 4 days seeking a party at different primetimes to only see 7 people in a 4 lvl gap is just wrong. Well thats just meat lvl 39 as a war.

Prices are down gear wise.  Items used to craft seem to be overflooded on the market. An allot of gear hasnt sold on the A.h in a long while.

Downtime has been tweaked some what with signet, and sanction, exp ring helps a little, but only if you find a party.

Nm's seem to be rare/exe itemed now, So no more leaping boots or emporer pin drops. those are BCNM'ed now.

Just play on Asura, you will get a group almost all the time and fairly quickly, as it does have one of the most active populations. I transfered my 75 rdm to there from Quetzalcoatl and am currently leveling dragoon. At 58 I actually have people sending me tells for PTs without seek up lol. It's player base is a little more focused on accomplishing end game goals than quetzalcoatl but the people are equally nice.

Asura and Fairy servers have a substantial population... and actually, based on FFXI's website, there are tons of players on the Odin server as well. Any of those would be a great place to start.

Odin is overpopulated. That would be the worst one to go to.

To be the best, you must help each other become the best.
    FFXI Character: Satimasu
    FFXI Server: Valefor
    FFXIV Character: Tamorae Fonteil

Right now 38-40  = 19 people on, 6 are doing CoP, 6 are doing a Bcnm. 3 are smn and Bst and their in a 3 man pt.. So all thats left is me a pup and scholar. ><

Id transfer in a heart beat bt I am pretty high in the chain of command for my shell. So I dont wanna leave them just to exp my 4th job.

Thanks for the info.  Asura and Fairy sound good, cause my main concern was down time spent LFG.

Is server assignment still random w/o having someone get you the code thing? Or can you choose yourself?

    you choose yourself now :)
