The poor or good state of a game at full release is (to some extent) the result of the good or bad work of the game testers. If they could have fully tested the game without the players' help be sure they would have done it, but since they can't, they have to go through these testing phases counting on the players' help. Now tell me, who's fault will be when the game gets released and people will discover additional bugs and glitches that were supposed to be spotted by the beta testers? 100% the devs' fault, right? Yeah, I thought so! I've seen a lot of idiots that keep shops open 24h/day, pk non stop or just afk for hours instead of actually testing the game and hunting the bugs - so maybe the company should make the beta testers list public, so when the game gets released, all the players could thank them for the "outstanding" job they did
To the OP: I find it premature to label a game as "just another asian item mall grinder", in this stage - CB. You are playing the game now = you're a tester = you're supposed to find bugs and other in game problems; and yet you prefer to come in here and trash the game, and further more, to trash all asian MMOs. It's very dissapointing to see who's got the CB keys and how those are wasted by such individuals. If you don't like the game, you could cancel your account so that someone else that really wants to play the game may benefit. For the record: no, I'm not asian, yes, I am waiting for Rohan, and yes, I like asian MMOs - some of them turned out to be very entertaining to me (Hero, 9Dragons, Zu - to name just a few). What has this to do with Requiem? Nothing - exactly like your "justification" - just because people play a certain game now and another one tomorrow doesn't mean you can come and trash the game without getting a negative reaction. It's not enough to say "this game sucks" - at least explain why. For instance I would be interested in hearing if and why the DNA system sucks, or why you hate the possession feature....but I feel I'm asking for too much, right?
Im sry I hurt your feelers, yes I got a beta key... they are handing them out like hot cakes on many of the popular mmo websites. I have every right to say how I feel about a game as much as you get to hype a game. I have played ( MANY ) free to play asian item mall grinders and Requiem ( IS ) just another free to play asian item mall grinder a to z. Requiem is like all the other free to play asian item mall grinders. The game is also loaded with kids that think they are cool for making a fake age to play. Once in game the chat is loaded with OMG! OMG! PENIS! OMG! NOOB! and all kinds of foul mouthed trash talk.
Like I said before, once the game goes live the asian gold farming rings will hit the game for many months with bots, gold / power leveling spam and hacking the game. The game will have very poor customer support, just like all the rest of the free to play garbage. If it makes you feel good, I have five CB beta keys that I got from a few websites... thats five wasted keys!!! Oh no! I just tore up the sheet of paper that had the last four CB keys!!! Thats four people I saved from this free to play asian item mall grinder! I feel like an epic super star hero!
I think we all need to put on our hip-boots, because I'm readin' some bullsh*t in here. Dude, did you even play the game? Seriously? Looks to me as if you are just trollin. Who would have guessed, someone trollin an asain mmo forum on mmorpg.com.
Every MMO, be it asian or otherwise, has gold farming. And trust me, there are some well established MMO companies (cough...cough...SOE...cough) that have crappy customer service. How are you 100% sure this game is doomed from the get-go? I bet you will be the first guy in line to write the "I told you so" thread if something changes with the game.
DystopiaBoy, I see (judging by your sig) that you're currently playing Requiem. Can you please explain how the DNA system works? Are there certian levels to be reached before being able to use it, how much does it cost to change one component, are the changes noticeable? And also, how is the PvP in this game? Is it allowed only in certain area,s is it FFA, is there a level cap between the attacker's level ad the defender's, etc? Tnx!

Sorry dragulea, I started two characters, and haven't got them past level 8 yet, lol. I seen one guy in the game chat stating the DNA system hasn't been "turned on yet". I'm not sure if that's true or not, but even if it isn't I haven't got to that level yet.
I haven't even figured out how do the armor "upgrading" thing yet. Hopefully I get to spend more time ingame this week and figure things out. You may want to look at the offical game forums. They have alot of stuff on there already. Or, you may want to ask one of these wonderful guys trolling this thread. They seem to be a wealth of knowledge about the game.

You can start using the DNA system after you reach level 10. A lot of DNA mods based off your skills, so you have to have the skill first before the DNA mod become available. To use the DNA, you go to a DNA vendor and buy the DNA, very expensive, so save up your money. The DNA system does work right now. I tried a skill with and without DNA mod and it make big different.
Currently, no world PvP, only battleground. The system works just like WoW, you register for a battleground and go do something else. It will teleport you into the battleground when enough people signed up. Iron Mine battleground is capture the flag type. There are 2-3 battlegrounds right now. You get score after the battleground. You can use your score to buy stuffs from battleground vendor.
To people who says this game has been release in Korean already. Yes, it is out in Korean, but during US beta, the developer could decide to put in or to withhold certain features. You would think it's just a straight port from one language to another but many times, it is not that simple. Trust me, I have done it before.
I could just give the thumb up for this game just for the control alone. A full WASD control, which is very responsive by the way, is not something you see often in a Korean MMO. It makes PvP much more challenging and enjoyable. One word "jump" could say a lot to some people. A friend of mine won't play an MMO if he can't jump in it.
Quests are few, but they might have not put all of them in yet due to translation delay. Quest scripts could take a while to translate them all. But there are quests, it's not a total grind fest. The first 10 levels are poorly done as it is, they could use some work. Oh, by the way, this game has in-door engine, building you can actually come inside, not just some blocks that you can only walk around like other Korean MMO.
Even when you do have to grind, it's not that bad, really. If you compare it to some of the big AMERICAN made grind fests like Everquest, Dark age of Camelot... heheh, it's certainly not that bad. At least at low level it is. Korean standard, it's pretty mild grind.
Thanks for the info! That's what I was hoping to hear: no world pvp, but still having some honourable ways to have some fun with other players (I like wars and mutual consent fights). I like the game that allow me to train in peace without some idiot pker displaying his "idea" of fun Neat!
Guitano, you appear to be trolling, as I find zero substance in your posts. Have you even played this game, and if so, please share your character name, server and level. I don't ask this to be offensive, but like most MMO's, there is no way to judge this game based upon merit, without at least playing a character to level 12, or so.
This game is very well done. WASD is fluid, with no need to point n' click. The UI can use a bit more customization, like resizing of fonts and such, but other than that, very intuitive and well done. The graphics are detailed, and very nice, at least at the 1900 x 1200 I'm running the game in. Music is very good, and combat engaging. PvP is limited to a battlegrounds type atm, but there is more in store for PvP, and some serious talk of a PvP Server at release that would open PvP up further.
There is no grind, like there was in L2. Gear drops are plentiful, and make the game a lot of fun. The ability to break gear down to "Xeon", and upgrade Armor & Weapons using Xeon is nice. The entire DNA aspect of the game is novel, and intriguing, as it can open skills we don't even know about.
While not a huge fan of instances, the few I've been in have been awesome.
I have 3 characters that are level 11, and one that is 14, all that with just entering beta Friday night; hardly a grind.
Not sure exactly what your problem is, but it's not the game, because you don't seem to know much about it.
Cheers -CC

What gets me is - why would you create a mature game, one rated so because of blood and gore, one targeted at an older audience - and not target the gameplay medium to a more mature audience? Free2play and item malls are not the devices of mature mmorpg'ers, especially ones in the western mmo market. Not in my experience, anyway. If you want to attract more players and limit the amount of children and scumbags logging in new free accounts every few minutes, make it pay to play. True, there are still instances of the aforementioned stereotypes in pay to play games, but it so much more limited.
What gets me is these games that have a "mature" tag are anything but usually. The fact is, especcialy with downloadable games is that its verry easy to get into them regardless of what your age is. I have been a file planet member for a long time but to get the access code form them all you had to do was put in a date that made you 17+. There is no actual check. As far as more kiddies and immature people playing f2p games than p2p of course thats the case. Its not because one is any better than the other though its simply because one they can download and play for free. I think you will find though as anoying as the general channels in F2P games can be, you actually find the bigger jackoffs in P2P games. Maybe not as many, but bigger jerkoffs.
Overall requim has some potential. It has some bugs to fix, some lag to take care of and some class balancing (this is just my guess but all games have balance issues) and some things here and there and it could be one of the better f2p games available right now. Grinding from 1-10 seemed fastest to me but once I hit 10 on my 3rd toon I started doing some of the new quests that pop up and its starting to get better.

Hammerine, lvl 32, I wont share my in game name/names .
I have taken the game off my comp, thank the lord!
lvl 32, jez I'm sure you've grinded quite a bit huh?
I'd be burned out with grinding too, but I'm enjoying the dungeons right now, about to ding 20. Have you found any new quest hubs? I'm in a rather large guild and we're all progressing together for the most part.

Let's assume you are telling the truth. You remind me of the folks that start MMO's, shoot to max level ASAP, then complain about no end game content. The maximum level in closed beta is 40. You claim to be 32, and are trashing the game as a grind fest. Take a step back and look at this picture. Your vantage point is twisted. If you grind in a game, of course you will experience it as a grind fest.

On what do you base that max lv in CB is lv 40 ? Atm im lv 39 Warrior on Lintara, well in any case il check your theory soon In ouer guild we have like 15ppl 35+ atm
Requiem is the best free online game that i have been played ,and when the WoW-raids finish i go play requiem because is really good and funny, and isn`t a Hard grind , not more than wow.
agree with OP, this game is trash move on and play another game that is more worth your time. I hate WOW with passion, but would suggest that over this lame wannabe MMO any day of the week
I love how ppl can flame a game when it is in CB.... for crying out loud ppl if you dont want to find bugs and things that are not right yet then why the hell are you in CB? the game still has things that need to be implemented into it yet how about you wait till the game goes live then pass ya judgment. It is a Grind yes but unfortunately this is all you are going to get from any new MMO from now and untill some 1 can break tis mold and try something new please dont come here and say "IT IS JUST ANOTHER L2 ASIAN GRIND FEST" WHat in the hell were you expecting?of course it is gonna be a grind that is what all MMO's are if you dont want to grind then maybe you should be playing Mario OR Sonic or something MMORPG'S=Grind with Quest thrown in to break the minotony. Well thats my Whinge have fun.
The game already exist, this is just a port. If it was a brand new game, it would deserve a little credit. It is not a brand new game, so it doesn't.
Does the "Pre-Ported" game exist in the US? No? So this is our first time playing it? Jeese.
Port's are a thing to be loved, because THEY DONT F*CKING EXIST IN THE US. Who gives a d@mn if another place made it. You think Final Fantasy was made in the US?
I'm not saying the OP has any validity...but your statement is way off base. A port means that the game has already been through testing phases and released in another country. The engine, the code, and basically everything that makes the game tick is already in place and not going to be changed. The only real thing that happens during a port is some translation, and a movement of the code from servers overseas to servers over here.
His point was that this isn't a real beta. This isn't a new game, they aren't developing the code in this phase. The game is already done, and being marketed. All this is doing is stress testing the NEW servers that the game is being ported to, in an effort to make sure that the host of the game over here has hardware which can handle the potential load.
Again, they aren't making code changes. They aren't bug testing or bug fixing really. When a game is being ported, and does an open beta, its for server stress purposes only.
right now, call of duty4, nothing is out worth playing right now. Will play rohan once it comes out probably with my guild. But besides that there is no foreseeable game coming out that is worth playing and doesnt cater to the casual gamer crowd. I have pretty much given up on MMO's
I'll try out rohan aswell, tho i don't have any hope on that game, since at least requiem team is working on the game kinda well, seems very promising to me, while rohan (jp version was good) seems to me like the english version will be another "let's exploit the cash shop while the game stills alive" other than working more on the game.
Edit to say that the amount of players playing requiem OB amazes me, i never saw an OB getting that good acceptation from players, or maybe i haven't seen that many players in the same area in other games lately, while the lagg was so little (and they were stressing the server), server stability deserves a +10!
Where did ou get that impression, admaris? I've been in the Rohan forums for a few weeks now, and they seem very concerned about making the game NOT like that. I've played in a dozen mmoz, and I can say that I've never seen such active GMz and Modz as I have in that game. Requiem is OK, but my guild already quit to move over to Rohan.

gishgeron, thank you for being competent and understanding the concept of my argument and reasoning
I would like to ask Napocalypse what games he plays. I am just curious.
right now, call of duty4, nothing is out worth playing right now.
