troubles at regnum online???

n7zztn7zzt Member Posts: 6
There seems to be a bit of a row going on over at regnum online forums over some new "features" added to the client in recent days.

The latest patch introduced a number of changes to the game, most of which the players are now in an uproar over. some of these features include:

1. user suffers fatigue after 3 hours online (with a 50% drop in earned
experience after 3 hours and an 80% drop after 6 hours)
2. premium content is now less effective (a hidden price increase)
3. some essentials of the game (like resetting powers) may be moved
to the "premium" centent section
4. The experience curve has now been modified such that it takes longer
to acquire each level (you need to earn 15% more experience points than before)
out of a maximum of 6 million to be earned to level 50.

These points listed above show that something serious is going on behind the scenes at regnum. It seems they cannot handle the current load of users they have and are deliberately driving away large numbers of them by the methods indicated in point 1 above. This amounst to "punishing the users" for use of the game.

Now, a number of users have posted in the forums offering viable solutions to the problems (for example: using click through ads for some extra revenue and other items), but it seems that NGD studios haven't really bothered to listen yet.

Is it me or are these guys shooting themselves in the foot on this?

    well,

It has been confirmed. It seems that all the problems of late over at Regnum are the result of a few things going wrong.

One of these things is the Lack of revenue the company (NGD Studios) has been seeing for sales of their premium content.

Another is that the developers have failed to heed the advice and suggestions of the community at large.

It seems that in the final analysis, all they were interested in was the money.

so much for a "free MMORPG"

Everyone reacted bad to this change, and of course because it was a repent and strong change.

NGD claimed that reaching the top level was easy to do, and they are right... if you (before the update) grinded a lot of hours per day, you'll reach max level in just one or two months. This system changes this problem into another, but be careful, it's being improved. Today a new update was made and new values are:

    First 4 hours 100% exp

    Second 2 hours 60% exp

From hour 6 and on 20% exp

The counter starts when you kill 5 mobs, so if you want to go to war first and then leveling, you are allowed to choose.

If you use experience boosters you will not have this restrictions.

It seems to be more fair, but time will only tell us what will happen. I think is a right move to make, as they seem to have problems to mantain the game, and a lot of people play and have fun but don't contribute. As an admin told, only 4% of the players contribute and not that much.

Regnum Online is a great game and I wish they can make users think about this and get some more revenue. They deserve it!

ok, granted they needed to make some changes. However, they kept us, their community, out of the loop, period. no updates, no errata, nothing. then they spring it on us all at once. Then, to top it off, they refuse to fix the known bugs they already have.

that last is *the* primary reason why people ceased contributing. the bugs were not getting fixed. hell, its like polishing all the chrome on your newly built car before you've even test driven it!

Now, as to whether they deserve it or not, that remains to be seen. the fact is, the users cannot trust the company anymore BECAUSE they abused us this way.

They have no Community Manager, and this doesn't free them of fault, but this "let down" only lasted 1 day... if they realy wanted to do something against the community, they wouldn't have adjusted it.

Regnum would not survive without this change, and it's hard to understand for a lot of people... I thought that way too, but then understood that it was a very easy game, with a lot of fun, but at no cost... call it money or effort.

They still have the fault of not communicating that properly to the community, but they are starting to hire more people, so lets see how this continues... I have faith in them, they, being only 9 in the development team, are doing a big effort to evolve this game.
