I used to have a link to all the classes but its dead now. I think the 3rd healing (priest) class was called temple of set. If I recall, thats the snake cult dudes from the 1st movie ? Id appreciate any link to view the classes from someone. Im still leaning towards priest of mitra as Im guessing they'll be in high demand. But if this other priest class (not the bear hybrid one) is as good of a healer, then I might consider them.
tentonhammer.com did several interviews regarding most of the different classes, here's a link:
Yeah, if you want to go with the least played class, id go with a healer... most people are going to be playing assassins and rangers (im guessing) Im sure the AoC found a good way to make the healing classes an enjoyable class to solo.
To the OP I'm going to say that the least popular class in beta might not be the least popular for launch.
Open beta will have given people a very limited view.
If you are in closed beta you have the view of things as they are there.
I'd say the vast majority of people that log in the "live" product..
Are going to play something based on what they liked in another MMO or at least sounds cool...
I think the more relevant question along these lines is... 30 to 90 days after launch what will be the least popular class. I'm going to be that some of that will be how hard the class is to get through the first 20 levels...
I guess I'd randomly say:
Priest classes, HoX maybe a couple of the "tank classes" even (believe it or not).
It was stated several times that the 3 healer classes will have comparable healing ability. All of them have feats/abilities that rely on them maintaining an offensive. As a result, none of them will be like the standard healer who sits in the back, only spamming heals.
Tempest of Set are healers with a focus on AoE nukes.
Priests of Mitra are healers with a focus on crowd control.
Bear Shaman are healers with a focus on melee damage.
Obviously, the 3 classes have more than that, but I think that's the easiest way to differentiate between them, based on the information we have right now.
I don't know if healers will really be that rare. In general, people don't like healers because it is boring being a healbot. But in this game, all 3 have additional core abilities.
okay so maybe healer class wont be as rare as in other MMO's.
two more questions then...
1. whats your opinion on the necromancer class ? Do they mostly rely on their pet to survive ? Was / will it be popular for groups ? Again, Im looking for a class that not everyone plays but is needed
2. which class offers the best crowd control ? My guess is PoM but unsure.
I really dont like healing and it sounds like with this game I cant simply heal either. Id need to multi-task, ie heal and CC, or heal and toss some aoe's out. Im not very good at multiple tasks.
I think Ive pretty much narrowed my field down to demonologist or necromancer.
