Actually originally the game was to be called Crusade - but i guess that was a little too (religeo - historically) loaded to be acceptable
However, because it is a DA game, many will be quick to judge ... and that in itself makes it a little more 'interesting' a title than it would have been otherwise.
However, i was a little disappointed to read (about a year ago) that DA wasnt going to be pushing any new boundries with this game, and indeed will follow tried and tested game designs / mechanics set out in existing titles (this was in response to concerns that the title could be vapourware, and his intent was to allay the fears that he may be creating an undeliverable product)
However, judge for yourselves on the merits of the title, and although those screenies are pretty horrible to look at now, i very much doubt that it will look that basic (ugly) close to release (i didnt think it looked much like WOW at all)
Alganon , DA mmorpg is one I m watching. The graphics released , names and such are place holders. This creep who posted this failed to say that Alganon is offering key features like study(ing) skills off line , skill+level system , family system , libary system (which has to do game knowledge unlocked in game and among other things.)
You can hit their site , Alganon.com to learn more than straight up basing it . WoW biggest thing now its the more than 80% chinese gamers , which they report directly to Chinese government and bow down to the Red Army for numbers.
Alot of games are worth watching which arent on the radar , among is Kaos War and Alganon.

I agree some of the Unknown game on the market are actually some of the best i have played good to see Kaos War has a tech video now i remember when the only thing on the site was some screen shots.

More people need to show on both boards. Kaos Wars I think would be fun to try , when comes out I m forcing my brothers to play it. Alganon I think if it lives up to its press is gonna be a suprise hit , like New Warriors in 90s (Marvel Comic books)
2) as others have said these screenies are of year-old placeholders
3) as overs have said there are some interesting concepts on skilling / levelling your char that are new - although the game is largely imitating other titles such as WoW and DAoC...
It may well turn out to be one of the best games comming out in 2009... or a dog that seems all too familiar... beta will let some of us know in advance
You need your eyes checked if you dont think this looks like Wow. As far as being imaginative, if you cant even be creative in your art direction that does not bode well for other aspects of the game. The screenshots posted on the site have dates of 3/08 but they are year old placeholders? Hopefully the entire UI, scenery, characters, and chat is a placholder lol. The boxes, flags, ground texture, trees, posts etc look copied directly from Wow. Who knows though, it may be the next big, epic mmo.
I give it a 1/10 for a serious lack of originality in the visuals department.
I don´t understand why he makes yet ANOTHER fantasy mmorpg? We already have WoW, EQ2, Vanguard, Guild Wars, Lineage 2, in a week AoC. In a couple of months WAR and eventually Darkfall... Isn´t fantasy pretty satured by now? I would love to see more present-day mmorpg, not many of those around . Like a Call of Cthulhu online.
Now Call Of Cthulhu would be interesting, I wonder how they would handle insanity?
This is like 7th game and company DA has started and with no doubt he'll dump it half way through like every rest of his projects.
Says something about his talents when He was fired from horizons project after he had wasted half of the projects budget and had got nothing of substance done
Wow, seeing the UI ontop of the graphics emphasizes how deliberate of a clone this is.
Other games like WAR receive the title "clone" simply because they don't reinvent the while, but this is an obvious attempt to mirror the entire look of World of Warcraft.
I can't imagine why in the hell they'd create this. Money grab?
I honestly hope this doesn't see the light of day if it retains this appearance. It hurts my eyes. Reminds me of that Chinese knock-off Nintendo "V"ii, or those Pay Less Adidas with four-stripes. It's hard to care if such a product has any merit beneath a stolen exterior when its so evident a knock-off.
Is this a joke? Unless they're going for a free to play version of an even worse looking WoW, I've no idea how this will sell... then again it could surprise us all with incredible and innovative features and gameplay!!!.... but since they couldn't even come up with their own design, that's highly doubtful.
Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.
We have decided that MMOG development without copying is extremely complex in both design and technical production so we decided to avoid all that hardwork by copying everything from WoW.
Therefore A game like World of Alganon must be designed with a core set of features copyed from WoW, yet flexible enough to evolve beyond the initial design based on WoW player's feedback .
We here at QOL acknowledge that the design of World of ALGANON may evolve far beyond what is defined here during its multi-year development process depending entirely on how much we decide to copy from WoW and how many of our own idea's we manage to come up with;
however if we cant manage to come up with any of our own idea's, we will continue to update this section as such design changes occur based entirely on whatever changes Blizzard make to WoW in the future.

QFT!
This takes "WoW clonez!11!!" to a whole new level.
the only thing that will save it is "Free toi Paly" or "$5 a month subscription". No one is going to pay $15 a month for a WoW clone when Wow is so much better and more popular.
This game copies in every way possible. Art style and interface is a big fat copy. I'm sure animation, music, and gameplay will be the same also. The unique features posted so far are are minor at best.
There's a difference between buying and playing a standard game copy or movie copy in comparision to an MMO copy. People spend way too much time and money for an MMO. No one wants to play an MMO copycat. Sure I'll go out and buy a Halo copy (Haze) for 40 bucks or more and get my funout of it. I'll go watch the Eregon even though it is a LOTR copy. Its only 8 bucks. But I sure as hell won't pay 15 buck a month for a WoW copy that is probably not going to be as good as WoW.
Comments
why freak out over a game that looks like a game that is as popular as WoW?
there would be no music, tv shows or movies if people would not copy the most popular crap of the day...

I didnt think it was possible, but this developer actually managed to make Warcrack look worse. xD

That has got to be the ugliest and the most blatant ripoff of WoW I have ever seen.
I can't believe that someone is actually making this.

WoW looks a million times better there
Now I suggest mmorpg.com to make a forum for this and then the WAR forums will, finally, get rid of all "This is a WoW copy!" guys.
unlucky mythic someone beat you to it.

My blog:
Also, some of the NPC names are exactly the same as is the lore and some of the names of the places.
Im suprised they haven't gotten sued yet roflmao!
People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.
Um, lol?
HAHAHAHA funniest thread for a long time!
Don't let Blizz get a sniff of this or they'll be suing these guys to the ends of the universe.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.
because everything is a WoW ripoff.

For once, the 'it has WOW graphics' comment has some merit.
