Your topic is quite missleading, was expecting another troll post.

Untill yesterday i had 3 copies of AoC installed, then i realised how much space it uses..

It's not really all that much. FFXI took 7Gb per installation.  Each expansion is an installation. I don't know if that was the case for Wings of the Godess. Without counting the last expansion, it's still 28 Gb. And if it 7Gb for Wings of the Godess that's 35 Gb total... That's crazy to me. As well as the FFXI updates, oh god how i hated those days.

Yep, such is the price of realistic graphics and detailed terrain in an MMO these days.

Eve gets away from it by being in space.  WoW has its own "unique" blend of low res textures.  And Vanguard...well......tries to look realistic.

The loading times were reduced to about 20 seconds per instance about 2 - 3 weeks ago on CB.

Even logging into the game only takes 1 min from desktop to game world now.  So please, stop with the mis-information as its pretty apparently from your previous posts that you don't like AoC.

Well i heard having 4+ gigs of ram really helps AoC, so if you have that much ram 1/4 of the game will get into it. And ram is ultracheap, me and my friends are swordfighting with ramsticks

The game is fine and relatively hitch-free with 2gb ram on a semi-decent machine.

Though 4 gb obviously does show an improvement for obvious reasons.

I nearly died when I found the 2gb I bought 1 year ago for £180 is now worth £30.  Looks like I'm buying another 2 gb hehe.

Cheap ram is cheap.....I am using 4gig OCZ PC16000 2000mhz ram. If I saw someoen swordfighting with my ram, i'd be taking a 500$ ass whooping out of there ass cause that's what my ram cost.;)

MMO's always take more space than regular games. POTBS took 24 gigs, Vanguard took 17 gigs, EQ2 took around 20 gigs. It's not unusual and it's because it loads all of the stuff onto your computer and only populates the maps with mobs and objects from the server.

    WoW ~ 8.7 gigs

I know, it shocked me too when I first realized how large it is

hopefully there's content to match it's size... equal to friggin 10 GWs installations! At least we know the graphics are fantastic, so I think the size is liveable...

I'm thinking of setting aside a dedicated 50gb partition for it myself.

Well sure take a lot of space but then again we all have 500 gig HDD these days so its not that big of a deal. ^^

Does it matter? i mean seriously.. WOW systems are more likely to have low HD space, but this ain't meant for a WOW system.

    You can get -> Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive:  for -> $89.99

Not very expensive for a good harddrive that'll last you a long dang time.
