This Idea would be all out crazy!!!!!!! There would be cars flying everywhere and rockets and bullets in the air!!!! I like this idea!!! Tell me what you think!

Why
Cause i think that it's quite impossible to get the same gameplay when in SinglePlayer
when you're in MMORPG, it means that you'll have to perform quests all the time ... stealing cars killing gang members etc ...
Imagine this with thousands of players and it means ...very laggy ... almost no quests can be done cause everyone is doing quests
You're trying to steal the same car with different people ... you will have thousands of police officers chasing everyone
...
So it will be hard to accomplish

It'd be more like planetside then regular MMRPG's.

hah ive never heard of "mutli theft auto" or whatever, but ive always thought an online gta would rule. if it were an mmorpg it would definitely have to be more planetside-ish. that would be awesome to the different gangs as playable "races" (including cops, as someone said). then you could have the conquest idea of stealing cars from other gangs and doing drive bys and trying to get a hold of buildings to make illegal (or legal) money for your gangs to build new cars and stuff ... haha you could get a pretty cool world going on there
if it were like co-op multiplayer online that would be cool too, like planning out missions and stealing cars and killing people cooperatively, more like the movies haha.
or just 6 players or so online ffa or team.. with different game types... dm, ctp (capture the prostitute lol), and different stuff like that. haha neither of these may be incredibly story-driven, but i think they'd all be tons of fun to play

Heh, this is actually quite funny because I was thinking about a GTA online this morning. The way I'd make
it, would be using different states for players to go to, and the ability to form mafias or gangs in these
states. Basically, you could join or create your own mafia or gang with other players, and try to make them
the toughest in the state or even country. Now, for those interested in being the good guys, you could do
several undercover missions for the police force, including drug busts, and later on become an actual police
officer. So instead of having npc police officers chasing the bad guys, the actual players chase the bad guys.

Actually yes, you've just explained what Planetside was like minus the crashing of cars.
Oh hell noooooooo! Don't tell me you just tried to say that GTA is organized...ARE YOU CRAZY?! The game is all about running over people and hitting cops with baseball bats, that is if you didn't get them with your stolen cadillac.

I like the idea, if its done right, it could be very fun. Lag could be avoided with zones. It would be awesome to just drive quietly, when suddenly some other pc goes by with 5 police cars after him. Road blocks etc... give me this!
