1-80, How long?

I've contemplated buying the game, and probably will. But first I'd like to know how long it'll take to progress from lvl 1 till 80. Will it be like WOW 1-60 or eq 1-80?

Funcom staff have stated 250 hours

but from what people have posted, levelling will be faster than WOW 1-60

From what I read they tweaked the levelling curve around during beta.  Seeing as how nobody has leveled past 20 how can anyone be certain how steep it gets in the later levels?  1-13 took many players between 3-5 hours.

On a side note, do you really want to burn through the game up to the level cap?

quite a bit are going to level blitz to max.  To  be the first guilds to do x y and Z.     Different strokes for different folks.

True.  However, I guarantee these same people that burn through to 80 will be complaining on these very forums that AoC has no content, eh?  I saw the same thing in LotRO which is a shame because that game was pretty fun from 1-50.  Although at 50 there was a mass of people that left because there was no real endgame.  I hope that AoC does it right and doesn't make it too easy to reach the top.

i think (and i base this on my opinion only) that AOC going to be one of those games when the "real game" start at the level cap (80) like in WOW.

In response to a previous poster, I got to 13 much much quicker than that.

In response to the thread, yea I imagine it will be about 250 with plenty to do at the end.  With the guild seiges and I believe they have said raids are already in the game.

It depends on how they have worked it out. Is it 250 hours doing all the q's and following all the story line etc or is it based on power levelling?. If the 250 hours is normal game play doing q's I reckon it would take half or even a third of that time. I would say conservatively about 100-125 hours. But you have to take into account the truly hard core, I heard some guy levelled 1-70 in WoW in a shade under 24hrs.

Yeah, I think I remember Funcom saying something about that.

If you got to 13 in less than 3 hours.. you would be lying.  If you go through the quests the way they are intended..  you know, by actually reading them..  It should take you 4-5 hours.. maybe more.  I'm guessing, 6-8 hours to level 20.

I mean, if you run as fast as you can through tortage beach, that's like.. 15 minutes at the least, if you kill every mob, maybe 20.  If you do it without rushing, about 30.

So you heard.  That is impossible.  I took my rogue from 60 to 70 in a couple weeks and I was playing at least 6 hours a day.  Even your fastest leveling service can't do that.

They did lessen the experience needed though.. I haven't played since shortly after hitting 70, so it could be vastly different now.  I still don't see leveling to 70 in one day of play time.

It's true, there is a guy who leveled to level 70 in around 24 hours.

That sounds like an urban legend to me, I really doubt anyone can lvl that quick. Just think of all the traveling time he would need to get from poin A to point B. The only way anyone could possibly lvl that quick were if he was fully grouped and had a Mage who could teleport him from one zone to another, and even then it would be a stretch.

Actually the first lvl 70 was done in under 24 hours. Although the character was lvl 60 upon the release of the burning crusade, a german player used an entire guild to powerlvl his toon to 70. While it is impossible to earn enough xp for those 10 lvls by yourself in one day, with the aid of an entire raid it can be done. Upon the release of the Burning Crusade, Blizzard credited characters that merely tagged a monster with full experience for its kill even if they did not personally provide enough dps to kill said monster. In practical terms this means one character could tag an elite monster in southern Winterspring for experience, while an entire raid deals the damage. Although the raid group would recieve no compensation, the individual out of party would be recieving full xp for each monster he tagged.

Since the Burning Crusade's release Blizzard has scaled the xp you recieve to the damage you deal. In practical terms this means the previous situation is no longer possible because the individual tagging the monster would only get a precentage of the experience based on his damage versus the monster's total health.

My memory could be of.. but there was a max amount of xp you could gain from any mob..  so you could be level 1 and tag a 70 elite, but still only get maybe.. 200xp or whatever.  It's been about a year since I played, but I thought that's how it worked.

BTW, that's a pretty easy picture to doctor.  I mean.. even if it is real, it still can't actually be proven unless blizzard releases records on how long it took for that character to level up through every single level.  Unless there is detailed information available, I can't believe it.  Now, I won't call anyone a liar, but I just won't believe it.
