Why hate people who hate this game? Through my 2 months of enjoying this game (yes I lasted 2 months. I played it very much too) I accepted the fact that some people give their ideas. Lets say that EA games makes a half-ass game about making your own family. Everyone says "It roxxors!!!!" because the people who say it sucks... well they just dont say anything about it. Ok, so you go out and buy this game because it only got good reviews. It turns out it sucks. Uh oh! Looks like your stuck with this game on your hands! The negative reviews (if descriptive) are imperative to those who want to buy this game, unless they are a die-hard Final Fantasy fanatic fanboy, which is completely alright. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. (by the way, the example was referring to the Sims Online 
)
That is a reply from an earlier post. I know it doesnt have to do anything with FFXI but instead this forum. Accept the negative reviews, they happen with every game. They might even save you from buying a crappy game later on (maybe not FFXI, maybe another game).

they should keep it to one thread or take it to some place where the people care.

yeah there are loads... and it should all be in one big thread, or a whole new section.. not the general section.. i don't like seeing a forum flooded with all these hate things.. I don't mind them.. they should stay in their place.. hell if it was a sticky at the top called

but all these hate posts are just so annoying. and lots of people who have posted post in the other hate topics and keep them bumped up and in our face when... well its not nessary
I just wish the admins would do something.. I have suggested many alternatives.. its just a bit bent.

It would be good if all of these forums had a "hate the game" and "like the game" forums so that folks could say one or the other.
However I wouldn't get overly wound up about negitive feedback. If someone's paying or has payed for a game, they should be allowed to post some negitive feedback. Best to just leave them to their opinion if you don't agree, not all games are for everyone.
Personally I don't play FFXI but I am looking for a new MMOG so I'm just checking these forums out and thought I'd chime in here.
I am all for everyone being entitled to their own opinion.. but the people who hate the game can't seem to accept that others like it and are ruining this forum by replying to vertually every post with.. FFX Sucks and stuff... its just annoying.. they think because they don't like it everyone else has to hate it too..

Whats annoying is your reply to all those people telling them they cant have an opinion or to go away. I have a feeling if you didnt keep trying to argue with people, there wouldnt be people here for you to argue with.

Posting your opinion about the game in a thread related to the games quality makes sense and you should be able to post as much as you want there and have as many threads about how bad or good it is that you want.
The problem is that the moderators don't make people stick to topic by deleting posts that are completely outside of the subject being discussed. If there is a thread completely unrelated to game quality and some jerk pops in and posts "why bother, this game sucks!" that should be an issue the moderators deal with.
Posting in such a manner doesn't help anyone since your not answering questions or discussing the issue the thread starter created it for and are simply trolling.
Well the point of these boards it not necesarrily to answer questions or "help" anyone. Its a place to voice opinions and information And I dont think he was referring to people getting off topic. The moderators do in fact enforce threads to stay on topic, I have seen it. However, this thread is now getting off topic itself, so....

If someone is asking a question or asking for help then yes, that is exactly the point of the thread. If people stick to the topic then I think others would be much more accepting of the negative reviews and posts which definitely have their place on these boards as well.
As for mod enforcement it does happen but not nearly enough in most cases regarding topic. Most deletions seem in response to flames or vulgarity or in sections where a mod posts and reads regularly. All you have to do is read the Lineage section for example where 50% or more of the posts are off topic.
This is very much on topic I would think as it has to do with why people are hostile to others with negative reviews.
There is a balance between staying on topic and allowing people to voice their opinions. We will on occasion enter a thread and ask to stay on topic, but we will not censor people's opinions if they are genuine and not vulgar, obscene, inappropriate, and so forth. People are entitled to not like something, and that is something we accept here at MMORPG.COM. We like people to be honest about themselves and not feel wholly obligated to be positive if they do not want to. If someone simply says "This game sux!", then it means that person does not like the game. Mind you it will not carry much weight unless they take the effort to explain why.
That being said, negative comments can become flaming. That is something we do not accept and do deal with. For example you will notice we are extremely stern on posting things which are illegal (such as private servers, selling/trading beta accounts, and so forth).
MMORPG.COM provides both a friendly and honest environment to voice yourselves on MMORPGs. That is what our forums are for!

I don't think we are on the same sheet of music. ramadin didn't seem to understand what was being said by Max or I, and I don't think Max understood the point I was trying to make. Maybe I just wasn't clear in the way I said it.
There are many different categories and threads so its obvious it would be impossible for admins to catch every thread where there is a problem and I don't think anyone expects them too. I am definitely not saying they don't do a good job because they do better then pretty much any other forum I have visited.
The area I think that could use a bit more watchful eye is keeping people on topic. How does this relate to bashing people who hate the game? Like I was saying before I think a large amount of the bashing of negative posts comes from the fact that many people post them in topics that have nothing to do with the quality of the game.
Of course you will have people who will always be unhappy when someone posts something negative about a game they like, but I think there are far fewer that get bent out of shape about that then ones that get angered when every thread becomes a war on the quality of the game.
What Max talked about is all great stuff but has nothing to do with the point I was trying to make really. Of course people should be able to post a negative review and yes even "this game sucks" is fine though doesn't explain a lot. The location of such threads is the issue from my point of view.
As a mod do you think it promotes a good community to have people jumping into every post about a game and turning it into a war of if the game is good or not? Stick to the topic, if the topic in some way relates to the game being good or bad then you should feel free to chime in with positive or negative points or comments.
When its a thread where players of the game are discussing things they are doing in game or asking each other questions etc that is not the place for a "this game sucks" review. With every post getting one of those it just sours the community as a whole.
Btw ramadin none of my previous post was pointed at you if that was the feeling you got. So far from what I have read most of the time you stick to the topic with your negative reviews of the game. There are however many who post them on totally unrelated threads.
Well thats my opinion on how to reduce the bashing and downward spiral anyway. Obviously not everyone will agree.
