I made a char and got on the beach then foolishly logged of to make another now I cant get back on lol

Same here. Server traffic will be gridlocked with everyone trying to login.
On the same thing. Funcom knew this game was going to be huge they should have been ready for this.

Because 17:00 GMT = 18:00 BST = 19:00 CET = 13:00 EST = 09:00 PST
Therefore the whole world gets to play at Early Launch. If they did it earlier for us in the EU, then those in the US would have to get up during the night to participate, hence those in the US probably wouldn't have gone for Early Access.
A nice ploy if you ask me. This means they get the most people possible to log into the EA.

I'm curious to see what happens when everyone tries to log in right at the same time. If I were the devs I'd wait to turn everything on until 5 after just to mess with folks. lol There'd be 25 threads with ppl bitching in that 5 minutes if they did that though.
