    You don't get the spell until lvl 5 or 8 or something....

    At lower levels the only real purpose for pet is the mana regen buff it gives.  Personally you shouldn't have much trouble with mana, but other classes may find it more useful.  In PvP, DO NOT USE PET!

    It is just a spell icon man.

    You click it, it casts.  Takes maybe 10 seconds to summon.

    TY for reply, but I have seen other L11 with pets...I do NOT have the spell. I assume it is a quest? or something....but no info is available. Try searching anywhere...all it will ever say is class can summon...nowhere does it say how.

    Hmm, I'll see if I can find the spell name.

    I'm not in EA, so can't just pull it up.  Will get back in just a min though.

    Demon Familiar - level 9

    You see the crossed sword icons at top of you game window?  Click that.  On the right side when it opens you should see friendly and hostile spells.  Choose between the different 2 until you find that spell.

    Hope that helps....

    Unless it changed, no it is not a quest.  You automatically get it!!!

    So either you are bugged or figured it out in game or through the directions.

    For someone who was so worried about it, I appreciate you posting back and letting us know how it turned out...

    Pets wont be useful in PVP? The main reason i loved my warlock in WoW was seeing them doing their thang in PVP and making stratigies with pets.

    You want a necro (I think its called) then...

    demonologist = Mage (in wow)

    Necromancer = Warlock (in wow)

    The demonologist pet is just a buff really. He isnt going to tank anything or do damage. Demonologist has the high damage nuke spells.

    The necromancer can call up to 8 pets I believe. Or he can call less pets but theyre stronger. Necromancer has DOT attacks mostly.

    The demonologist has good nukes, but the pet (succubus) is a pain. It reacts very slowly I've found, and its dmg output is low. The pet does look good if you like half nked women :) but other than that, at the levels I managed to playso far it is low powered.

    The necromncer's pets (i had 2) are ugly mothers,but they do dmg. The necromancer himself though seems low power at my level, and squishier even than the demonologist  which has similar hp to a wow mage at the same level.

    Overall, I found the demonologist easier to level, because I stayed alive longer and I'm used to mages, but the pet jst annoyed me. The necromancer was harder to level, slower, but more fun I think--you can even reannimate the npcs you kill and use them as pets, but it is on a random chance thing.

    I played necromancer up to lvl 12 if you were wondering.

    I have a level 12 necro as well (would be higher if he didn't keep on getting stuck when zoning) I find that the pets don't hold aggro unless you use the spell to do so and I am working on the talent tree to give them more aggro oomph.

    In relation to the OP I have found and reported a bug where a spell icon doesn't show and leaves a blank box on the hotbar.

    Go to the overhead skills tab to see what spells and abilites are avaliable to you.

    Yes, the blanks still work though, just the icon graphic dissapears at random intervals. They do reappear though.

    You will figure it out very soon.

    Go ahead and get in a PvP game.  Make sure to look over your available skills very well and figure out what actually is going to be useful.

    Actually, I would disagree with the person that said nec levels slower too(at least at early levels). I believe they are faster and safer.  That Point Blank AE they have seemed to do more dmg than the Demo version.  That is the spell that brings the NPC's back to life, but you must let the spell finish itself out to do that.  Do not move until the spell plays out.  I would say there is a good 25% to 33% chance that it brings the NPC back to life.  I've had 3 skulls, 2 reanimation thingies, and 2 ice beasts busting up stuff before.  It will be hard for you to see the skulls at first, but look around on the ground; you will see them laying around. :)

    A lot of Demo's think they get the pet as soon as they hit a certain level.

    You actually need to do the chain quests at the Thirsty Dog tavern, the single player night-time quest in order to get the pet.  Its part of your training and is described throughout other peices of dialogue if you would JUST SLOW THE *$&%! DOWN AND READ YOUR DIALOGUE.

    you were told from the beginning to go see a contact at the thirsty dog, take that as a hint and quit grinding levels on trivial mobs.  It goes much faster if you play the game.

    Thanks for the info...

    To tell you the truth that was like the 3rd or 4th char I made and I was tired of doing that quest you are referring too.  I'm sure I did just click through the dialog and didn't pay attention.

    Anyway, was nice to know this info....

    The destiny  quest chain is a must for any career in my opinion, and they do get you to lvl 20 very efficiently I've found. Yes you will get bored of replaying those qusts if you'e an altaholic, but you will also fly through them after your second toon.
