Any word on Beta?

I've heard rumors that the Legends folks have already received their disks, rumors that the game will launch in November (someone said a dev told them that over a beer).

Anyone else know anything?

    Come to think of it, has anyone noticed how Beta-related posts on the official EQ2 site get locked down ASAP?  Why would a company do this?  Do beta rumors not increase interest in the game?  Only think I can think of is they want to push out another EQLive expansion before EQ2 starts to roll out.

    It's possible that SOE does not want the public to get excited over false information.  If people give out the beta date on the SOE forums, someone might take it as genuine information and spread it around.  Since the information was false, and the beta did not reach the beta date SOE would lose future subsribers.

    That would be the only reason I can see for a lock-down.

    If SOE is going to talk about the beta process, I'm sure they'll start a thread on their own.  Just give it time.

    Closed Phase 1 Beta is in full effect, it has been already for about over a month. It began with Friends and Family and then proceeded to add a few people here and there. ^_^

    I think the reason they get locked down so quickly is that all to often a post by some anonymous person that an open beta will start in October becomes "SOE, you guys suck! You promised an October Open Beta! I read it on your boards!"

    I think they want to stop those rumors as soon as they come out before people start thinking that they are actually coming from SOE.

    I also think they lock them to avoid false information spreading out..

    and YES there seems to be a 99% chance of it coming november. Yahoo, EBgames, and many other places have the release date in november + in the EQ2 report done by kunou (hope I spelled right) he says that a developer said it was coming on november...

    but you know.. sh*t happens... lets hope nothing goes wrong.

    Maybe they won't have a beta maybe they want you to buy the game then you fall in love with and get addicted and you must play in order to quench the thrist of mmo gaming and yu have to pay $15.00 to play it !!!! image

    The friends and family beta already started in early July. I believe the next phase is for the Legends subscribers. I don't think the CDs have gone out, but there was a post recently reminding Legends subscribers to update their email information so they can receive the Beta info. I don't know if those beta emails were sent to Legends subscribers yet either.

    A few Legends subscribers have dropped off hints that they have received their beta invites. Seems they started going out yesterday. Looks like the next phase will be beginning shortly.

    What are they planning only 2-3 months of beta?Is that cause they have EQ experence so they have everything worked out allready.Other games due out around the same time(WOW) have been in beta for months now and still no relase date insight.

    Wow has a release date in site.... end of this year , they are most likely not sticking to a " certain date" because they are watching their competition... EQ2...and will most likely base their release date decision on such.

    SOE company has not given me no word on beta testing even tho i purchased LoE and am slotted to start beta after legends people and still no word. may i suggest a petition to stop playing SoE games....lol, joke.

    but seriously they really need to get on the ball. all this waiting makes me believe that the beta version is crap due to the length of time its taking them. must be alot of bugs in the game, meaning it most likely wont go live till next year. and if it is released this year expect a bunch of problems like most games when they first come out...hmm probs+money=image

    I know a couple people that are Beta testing right now...not exactly sure what what they did to get in so early, but they are in.

    and the game they say is pretty far along.
