96 FPS in Tortage Underhalls

InzraInzra Member Posts: 679

I'm running on default video settings except for resolution at 1440 x 900.

I went into a dungeon/instance called Tortage Underhalls, and saw that I had 96 FPS. I'm no expert, but isn't 100 max? :)

My computer is:

Intel core 2 Duo

6700  2,66 Ghz

2 GB RAM

GeForce 8800 GTS

10 000 RPM hardisc

Also, yesterday I saw a GM ingame! He was suddenly there right in front of me.

His level was 100!   I got my character at max height, but he was at least 2 heads higher, big brutish bald guy   His name? Why, Gamemaster Awesome of course

All day I've been going around smiling, people think I've taken happy pills, I'm just happy I can play AoC

...and you DIDN'T TAKE A SCREENSHOT?

Happy to hear you're having a fun time though :)

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

I was so surprised, I didn't even remember where the screenshot button was.

I thought he was gonna welcome me or something, like they do in AO. But he just said Greetings, and I said greetings, and then poff gone x)

I guess theyre not suppose to talk to much to the players. He had like a bluish chest armor - nothing like WoW GM's don't worry . Like a high lvl uniform with blue, background.

Anyway, the reason I'm posting again is, I went further into Tortage underhalls, and turned my face against a wall and my FPS...

It's over 170...!!! I didn't think that was possible. When I face the room it goes down to 112 FPS.

I wonder if it's showing too much, I allways thought 100 was max heh. I don't get the feeling that it's bugged either, it relates normally to the view-distance (going up when facing a wall, going down when looking out at longer distance)

There was a GM stood just inside Tortage gate at the near the end of OB and initially I thought it was a bug or something because he was huge - then I read the char name and it made sense. Wasn't there long then just vanished and I didn't get a screenie. Was about 9-10ft tall - well he looked that tall anyway

Yep that exactly the spot I saw him, just inside the Tortage gate. I guess I just happen to be there when he showed up.

His name showed up in orange in the chat, I thought it was funny - GM Awesome

Sounds like you have Vertial sync turned off... when turned off you'll get higher framerates but might see some screen tearing (if you turn around realy fast), turn on sync and it syncs you FPS to your refresh rate which will result in smoother drawing. So if your refresh rate is 60, you'll never go above 60.

If your getting those sort of FPS its worth turning VSYNC on.

I can only speak for woW but with sync on I get a steady 45-60 (sync on @60) and over 100 with it off.

Why shouldn't you have more that 100fps??? sometimes I have 200+, sometimes only 50, depends on the stuff that in on screen

    Whats the surprise ?

I had 40 FPS in Tortage Underhalls , on 4.5 year old PC that was seriously under minimum requirements!

There is like 4 polygons there

I don't think I have seen any vertical sync option to toggle, all I changed with the video settings, was the resolution.

Also I have to say I've been down to 25 FPS in other areas/situations, so I'll just leave it like it is.

BTW, - not to make this thread even more random than it is x) - but I tried the video capture option just now, - dang that takes some hardisc resources! A few seconds and almost 2GB video stored.

Obviously not a good idea to use ingame video capture option in a combat, I was just jumping/ moving around. Everything went stuttering and lagging.

I hear max fps is ova 9000

Is this true or false? lets discuss.

Theoretically, FPS is unlimited, it just depends on your hardware. In reality, the Hz of your monitor (A good chunk of LCDs run at 65 or 75Hz, limits your framerate. A 65hz monitor can only display 65 FPS.

And since most humans can't recognize more than 30FPS, as long as you stay above that mark you should be fine.

But enough digression; your FPS is unlimited.
