Regarding ganking.

NizaranNizaran Member UncommonPosts: 11

I know it's annoying getting ganked, but there is a solution.  Just change instances.  I did that several times earlier.  My favorite was gank the ganker, gank him again, tap him, then swim out into the water.  After he got out there with me, I changed instances, leaving him all alone in the water and with a score of 1-2.

Yes now the gankers are complaining about ppl being able to change instances while getting ganked....not fair if you can slip away from a mob of gankers!

ROFL.. this ffa pvp that AOC is promising.. is sounding lamer and lamer.. gg multiserver instanced zones

hopefully no changing instances while in combat will be implemented, I'm going on pve so not much impact on me but if you are on ffa pvp you shouldnt be bitching out in a fight, whether  you're being ganked or not it is a part of ffa pvp

  • Sounds pretty ghey.  And I use that spelling for the emphasis.

Besides making players unable to switch out of instances while fighting, they should also take a page from Everquest 2 and put level limits on who can attack who.

For example, entering a zone there would be a quick message saying "PvP Level Range 4" or something along those lines. This would mean if you were level 20, you could attack players as low as lvl 16 and no one higher than level 24 could attack you unless you strike them first. This wouldn't stop higher level players from jumping in the area of your attacks though ;)

how is dodging a ganker bitching out on a fight?    sounds more like tactics to me.  Why would I sit there and wait while someone gets the jump on me?   Especially when I can just zone, rezone, stealth and hopefully kill the fool who failed at killing me?

Level limit would be great so we could avoid level 80s walking around bitch slapping all the poor low levels trying to play the game

    Just a question

Why is attacking and killing a player while they are loading not cheap but zoning into a new instance to avoid being killed cheap?

mind you i'm rather impartal to the whole ganking arguement but that just kinda boggles me

I was going to roll on a pvp server, but looking at the structure of the game and my past experiences with funneled zoneing on open pvp servers.. I've decided to most likely go PVE.

When you have funnel zoneing you get people that are always there waiting for you to pop through. Immunity time or not. It makes no difference. They'll chase you and kill you. On top of that the instance hopping is silly.

It is my belief that open pvp should be left to large world sandbox MMOs. Smaller zone based MMOs should probably stay clear, but I haven't played yet so I won't know for sure.

I'll try the open pvp, but more then likely it'll be a struggle just to have some fun. Mini-games and borderlands will most likely be enough to satisfy my pvp urges.

In WOW I was on a pvp server and it really didn't make any difference. It just meant you might always have someone 2x your level waiting for you to fight a mob. It really wasn't fun or of any challenge. It was just annoying. The game was to small for open pvp and funnels you to too common areas. Same issue with AoC.

The EQ2 approach to pvp level restrictions would be a good one.  Certain zones have wider ranges.

I like pvp, i think duels are cool too. But ganking is just childish.

And while you rezone come back and try to kill and that person just zones out and starts an endless loop of stupidity because people decide not to fight to the end because they are going to die

Haha.  An entire game of people trying to get 1 shots or running away!

They aren't going to. It's FFA pvp. I'm sure they'll put some kind of res/zone immunity timer and probably a timer on switching zones while in combat, but I don't see a huge change like level limits to the ruleset.

I don't know what it's like first hand. It could be working just fine, but I haven't a clue. I guess i'll find out the 21st (when I get my copy).

It was the first time I tried ffa pvp and i did it on the rp one cause i figured there'd be less gankers and looked forward to character interaction in a more "dangerous" world. At first I was enjoying it, wasn't getting ganked too often, and actually enjoyed some of the fights I was getting into. However later on that night it just got insane. Not only was i getting ganked everywhere I went on white sands, I began getting res camped too.  I realized then that either I join a guild and partake in this cat and mouse crap or I'd be doomed. All this on a 'rp ffa pvp' ya ok. Now I'm having a blast on a pve server, even though I was still paranoid on white sands heh. Like others are saying the pvp mini games and end game will be more than enough to satisfy my pvp needs.

To each his own..  I just couldn't stand how in WoW, if someone from your faction ninjas that chest you were clearing mobs to get to, or someone kept stealing your kills, or someone was jumping up and down in front of you for five minutes.. you couldn't do jack squat about it.   Now I can do two things.. One, change instances.  Two, kill them.  I'll pick the second option every single time, it's more fun that way.

As far as swapping instances or zones to dodge a fight, that's pretty lame.  It will be fixed in the near future I am sure of it.  Especially with the big influx of players and PvP that is going to happen int he next few days with over a half million people trying to level up in the same areas.  I hope the servers can handle it..

I couldn't stand EQ2 trying to pvp on Nagafen and someone could just hop back and forth through the zone and get immunity while you tried to gank them. Being able to just jump to an actual instance of the same zone by typing the command like in AoC must be even worse.

Those annoying people who steal your kills, ninja your chests, jump up and down in front of you, and spam /spit emotes would be an entirely different ball game on a FFA PVP server. They would just outright kill you, then maybe do rude-looking emotes to your corpse. And the typical ganker mentality is not to fight fairly - they'd wait until you started fight with a mob or something, so it's not like you could easily defend yourself.

I don't know why you keep refering WoW as having funnel zoning when it is clearly seamless. The exit/entrance isn't in one spot, you can enter by jumping off mountain, waterfalls, open border, swimming across and intersections. Also in burning crusade you can use flying mounts to fly pretty much over anything in outlands and across zones by flying over mountains and cities. You have obviously never played WoW or atleast past free trial. I don't even like WoW but I hate it when people make ignorant comments about another game.

I've played it to 60.. twice. It's tunnel zoneing. You obviously don't know how it works. So keep quiet.

It doesn't matter where the zone line is. It doesn't even matter where it places you on the other side of the zone line. That's all done with math. There is a trigger border around every zone line. You hit it before you hit the zone line and at that time you begin downloading the data gradually. By time you hit the zone line. You've finished downloading. The distance is HUGE at which you start downloading the data as to accommodate for slower machines, but even then some of the slower ones still have a glitch at the zone line. The degraded quality of the game allows for this. Try it on a game like AoC and it'll fail miserably unless the quality is degraded. The data is to large to stream it over time. They should still do it anyway to reduce load times, but then again if you hit a trigger you'll take an FPS hit in this type of game and that's not good if you don't intend to actually zone.

And what if ganker changes instances , when he figures he got more than he can chew ?

Its amazing how aoc gives every possible edge to gankers. Like they made the ruleset custom made for ganking

That's not ganking!!! come on people us your heads. Not every1 who kills u is a ganker, ganking happens when some1 much higher lvl than u kills u, or when a grp runs around killing solo people. If u cant stand people your own lvl being smart and killing u dont blame FC or ganking, you r just not good enough in pvp.

It is painfully obvious that Funcom has not done anything to insure that weak ass tactics will not be the norm.

If anyone remembers the old Rallos Zek server in the original EQ...."before the merge"...I am sure some of you know all ABOUT the load screen/gank fest....

It is nothing new, chumps will always look for an advantage, and as weak as it is, they will exploit it and prceed to call YOU the chump, cause they are so number,number,doosh,baggsss...

Ban me again, this is rediculous. I speak out for people that want a fair shot and level playing field...

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!
