I know there are alot of people like me out there when 12:00 hit they lost access to the forums and there accounts were cancelled.
This is how you activate your account, you dont need to make new payments or anything, its quiet simple but sad that funcom didnt put out anything to show you how to do this.
Step 1: go to your account page on the AoC registry.com thingy.
Step 2: take the link that says "Use a key to add a pre-paid card, upgrade a subscription or create a subscription."
step 3: Put in the validation key ON THE BACK OF YOUR GAME MANUEL THAT CAME WITH YOUR GAME
(the reason so many people are banned is because they put in the key from the little paper with the mammoth on it. that was only for early access and now that EA is over those accounts are over in a sence, but you can upgrade from that account be simply fallowing these steps
Step 4: when it take you to the new page and says your account has been upgrade go to the botton and select upgrade payment method. it should be a button or link thingy right under something that says "My "yourcreditcardnamehere" IE "my mastercard"
then!!!
step 5: to get forum access go to the link "create or upgrade my forum access" put in a new password (i used my old one) and wait 30 min and enjoy"
i walked my brother through this and instanly he got in game and started creating his toons,

Thanks! And can I add that Funcom has been a complete pile of crap as far as their ability to communicate anything at all to their customers.

I thought all was gonna blow over when the servers were back up and running but unfortunately it still showed my account cancelled and me being banned from the forums; I've never had that happen, its not like I called everyone in the community names ya know.
Even after the patch I tried logging in and nothing.
I did what you said, enter my CD key on the back of my retail manual and then it said my account was open
Hmm now looks like I have to wait 30minutes before I can hopefully access the official Age of Conan Forums
I dont know what the deal was.
On May 17th I entered my Pre Order Key
On May 17th, same day I entered my Retail Box Key
On May 17th til the servers went down last night for the big launch day today; everything said open and I can access forums and what not; then when the servers went down I was banned.
Again thank you for this post. This really needs to be stickied.
Oh and again my account says open and I WAS able to log into the game and create my character, thanks
