This is where I'm going to have to disagree with a lot of you. Ganking, griefing, and corpse camping are all apart of PvP. If you cannot handle any of this then don't roll on a fucking PvP server. I'm tired of damn carebears bitching and crying about how they get ganked and griefed and all that shit when they knowingly rolled on a PvP server and knew this type of shit happens. If you think otherwise, you're living in a damn dream world.
Just roll on the PvE server and enjoy your shitty instanced PvP 48v48 bullshit.
I better not see any of you in WAR.
There you have it, folks.
There's the reason you will NEVER see a successful MMOG based on open PvP.
There you have it, folks.
There's the reason why MMOs are giving us watered down PvP because of people who roll on them and then cry their wittle hearts out.
There have already been many successful open PvP games. You probably never played them and are just use to your WoW carebear taste of PvP.
Then why don't you keep your comments to yourself? You're obviously not a pvper so perhaps you'll leave the PvP discussion to those of us who are actual fans of it and have been PvPing for some time.
Hmm UO was a pretty damn good open pvp game. Skill based game tho.. so.. that makes it work. It will never work great on a level based game. But ganking comes with the terrirory of open pvp. If you get ganked.. gank em back! Dont cry about it. If its a group ganking you then get your own group an hunt them down. Its a social game after all. Im sure if your tired of getting ganked then so are 20 others, so get them an give a little payback. If they are 20x your level well.. that sucks, go somewhere else. Its open pvp on a level based game that isnt really made for open pvp in the 1st place. Just do what any smart person would do in open pvp.. run in packs, gank the ganker, and if its a way high level coming at you.. trip the friend next to you an run like hell! hahaha

Because my comment was valid and true whether I like PvP or not.
If we were talking about the best way to implement PvP, I'd certainly bow out. My comment was about the reasons people avoid open PvP in the first place.
If you really cared about open PvP, you'd listen to people like me instead of trying to chase them away. Alienating the average gamer is one reason the whole concept of open PvP remains nothing but a very small niche.

"There you have it folks..."
The magnum opus for why we have watered-down PvE. They are incompatible. Always will be. Because there can never be balance even in a game designed for FFA PvP, let alone one designed for BOTH pVE and PvP.
Balance is a rediculous goal. It doesn't work in the real world, it doesn't work in democrat/socialist/communist legislation for 'fairness' it will never be found in a game either.
I enjoy PvP for short tiny bites few infrequently. (I am not so ego-linked to video games to admit that I suck at it)
A game can be PvP-centrc, based from the gorund up and people learn to live with the rules, but you can not do both in a PvE and PvP game. it is a fool's errand. The problem is that >90% of the subscribers to these PvE&PvP dual games are Carebears. And the <10% of the population that is PvP ruin the game for the rest of us with rediculous nerfs and balance pipe dreams.
Devs, time to make a hard choice, one or the other, not both.
"The reality of the poor in America isn't the difference between The Haves and The Have Nots, it is the difference between The Haves and The Have Lots."
What is funny, is that players that exploit the game per the agreements that they click on to start it, will more then likely be banned for its continuous use. Why do people want to exploit the game? It takes all the fun out of it.
couldn't agree more.. how boring. And guess what, they will all start griping soon about a lack of endgame.
But I am pretty sure that overall most people will have fun in this game once the initial shakeout has taken place.
The avarage person would probably use the exploits if they knew how to do it and it wasnt going way out of there way to do it. Take item duping for example. If some guy is just out playing the game and he does something mundane that accidently doubles his money or whatever.. I doubt the avarage player will say "holy crap I just duped my gold! I better report this and delete half my gold!" yeah right.. I see very few people doing that. People can bitch about it up and down fourms and in game all they want but mostly its cuz it didnt happen to them. If it had they probably wouldent be saying much at all and go with it. Granted there are some stright arrow people that may "do the right thing". But not many id think. People often ask why people use exploits.. simple reason is.. because they can. I dunno, I have never really cared when people do such things. Infact I say good for them. They figured something out not many others did. If they abuse it on a big scale then its going to get noticed and fixed anyway. It doesnt ruin the game for anyone. If some jackass makes level 80 or whatever in a few days... big deal? I'll still be playing the game and having fun. It dont ruin it for me, if anything it ruins it for the person doing it. Once they max level in 2 days then eh.. whats left? Depending on the end game content they may just get bored far sooner than anyone else an move on to another game. Whatever. Hell the more exploits found now is good. Players are paying FC to basicly beta test the game lol. Sooner they are found the sooner it gets fixed insted of it happening a year from now.
Something funny tho.. I *think* it was in UO, not sure cuz its been years but one guy was exploiting the game and I mean he was GOOD. Doing shit that the devs thought impossible. Not just one exploit but an assload of them. Guess what happend? Banned you think? Nope.. EA hired him! LOL Smart move by them actually.
the difference on a pvp server is that there is worldwide FFA pvp. this means ur gona get ganked. anyone who goes on a pvp server know this and 90% will do so because they want to gank people too.
Actually no, not everyone that likes to PVP is a cowardly ganker. You saying that 90 percent are gankers is you trying to rationalize your activities if you ask me. There is a difference between enjoying FFA pvp and being a honor-less twit.
Exactly!
Unfortunately I was hoping, with the age restriction, you wouldn't have the little kidies that so injoy ganking, and otherwise ruin a wonderful concept in mmo's.
To have full ffa pvp is a great idea...it makes the world more....real. BUT when you have those that just get their jollies by griefing people then it ruins the illusion of reality...and makes the game less enjoyable.
1. In reality (even though it's fantasy) once you kill someone...are you gonna camp their gravesite and kill them over and over?...just because you have better armor or a faster computer or more levels? The idea is to immerse yourself into the world...in the end you're not only ruining it for others...but for yourself as well.
If you run across a person in an Inn, and they are playing the a$$ then it's great that you can go over and kill him...but what are the guards going to do? What is the Inn keeper going to do? Are you simply going to be able to stand there and kill him over and over....doesn't seem like that adds much to the immersion factor to me
It's a great concept to play in a world where someone could, at any time come up and try to kill and rob you and you have to watch your back...but to have someone just running around the map killing just for the sake of killing is griefing...no matter how you look at it. It adds nothing to the game and takes away very much.
2. If they're going to have full FFA PvP then there has to be some sort of consequence. It could be fun to play the outlaw briggand, but if I do....where am I going to resuply? How are NPC's going to react with me? Is my abilities going to be greatly reduced as far as where I can go? This adds to immersion,,,and is not dificult to write into the code.
All I can say is ...It's a shame you have to give up the playability of FFA PvP and switch to a PvE server just to enjoy what's left of the game. Because, admit it...if you are forced to do so, then it's no different than any other mmo, and you might as well go play WoW.
In the end...it's a shame that so few can ruin it for so many...and that they are allowed to with no fear of retribution.

I'm not the one QQing. I am smart enough to avoid PvP servers.

Reading more than the first post of the thread before you post is probably a good idea, ie mine as it's probably the most relevant/accurate.
I read everything including the last page, where the exploit was posted with screenshots.Perhaps you fail at comprehension.. but I doubt that the case. Trying to save face after you've been outed? More likely.
Celeras, the screenshots on page 7 refers to an exploit in Vanguard and not Age of Conan as far as I can see.I am guessing the pictures were posted to show that Ebonlore has cheated in other games.

Okay, we all know the old PvE vs. PvP argument can get very heated. A thread about possible exploiting on PvP servers doubly so.
Having said that, I'd like to remind you of the rules that are written here, especially the part about flaming.
Arguments are perfectly okay, even heated ones. But please keep it civil here.
Thanks

that's not even the correct game... you're on the wrong website to not know which game is which.
Could you give me a list of these? I'd like to try one.
