I would be careful looking at MMORPG dot com for any quality info on AoC. People that like it are playing it - not posting here.
People that don't like it, or aren't old enough to get in it are posting here.
As for me I am blown away by how good it is and I am a 4 year WoW vet. Go figure.
ok?... i dont think that at all.. the game is not live streeming and everything is instance based.. whats the point of building a playercity if its in a instance and noone can see it ? every zone is an instance and every zone have a player cap.. when the player cap is reached the server generate a new version of the zone untill its caped again so if you want to play with your friends you have to teleport between "zone instances" witch i find very boring and imo destroying the feeling of the game..
the combatsystem atm i think is gonna dig its own grave since it feels like the mele combat system is based on ppl standing still infront of each outher and as soon as ppl starts running the combatsystem dosent work and you end up mashing instant swings.. well im only lvl 38 in the game so far but thees 38 lvl have been a real pain in the ass with boring quest and a horrofying noskill combatsystem from my point of view.. im gonna give the game a chance since i hope the endgame content is better than the levling part.
When people have stoped being starstrucked about the grafic in the game i hope they realize that its just wow again with a more crappy combatsystem and instance based gameplay where you are not really in a world.. just instances beside eachouther.. the zones are gigantic but the area you can walk on is so small and limited to the roads and the areas around the roads. nothing more.... "the game feels singelplayer"
rating from me... Grafic nice at the start but overall in small instances is terrible .. looks like shadowbane or somthing.. prehaps an 7-8
gameplay . thinking combat = 5 top.
music 10
Thats atleast what i think and i have played alot of mmos. Eq. Swg. Wow. UA. Neocron. AO.
Conan feels like Daoc with better grafix and probably worse gamplay.
sorry for bad spelling
music is a weapon

omg my AOC CE is probably arrive by this May 22.. i'm little afraid to open it and found it this game is not my type.
Should i sell my AOC CE in ebay( make some profit) then buy the Standard edition.
I dont like Guild war, 2moons, type of games.. so if this similar like those game i might not play it.. at all..
I'm holding off posting an actual review, because I only got to level 5 before I had to leave for work. BUT...
OK first off, here's my street cred. I layed MUDs and such for years before making the graphical leap onto EQ1. I played that from just after Kunark was released until just before PoP. I played AO from 3rd phase beta to well into the Shadowlands expansion. From there I played EVE for about a year (mostly in beta), CoH for a couple years, and FFXI for about a year. I've also beta tested a stupid number of other MMOs that hardly warrant mention. Oh, and WoW for three years. Anyway...
Graphics: 10/10. Look, it's gorgeous. No need even discussing this. It's the one thing everyone here can agree on, pretty much.
Sound: 8/10 Voiceovers are nice....I was astounded the first time I heard an arrow shot. it sounded amazingly real! Nice overall, though aside from a few exceptions like the arrows little stands out.
GUI: 8/10 Not bad. I had a har time finding a few menus, but after a little poking figured it out. If I ever bothered with tutorials maybe I'd know better. The combat GUI is clean and simple, even with the weird "combat rose" thing.
Combat: Thus far I have like 3 specials and 3 directional attacks, so it's hard to judge. Combat feels quick and fun, and you do have to think a little to get the most out of "hitting them where the shield's aren't", or move to position yourself where attacks hit multiple mobs. I haven't seen any of the much-touted fatalities yet; I presume that wil come with more levels.
Social Aspect: Withholding a score here too. I haven't gotten out of the single player bit yet.
The "mature" aspect: Um, haven't seen boobies yet, and blood's been fairly minimal. And yes I have the mature content turned on. So, haven't seen what the fuss was about, but again being as low level as I am perhaps I haven't had a chance to see it all yet.
Tentatively, I like it. I haven't got in enough to really judge the game, but I hope to have more to say later.
