Um can someone please explain to me how there's supposed to be decent PvP in AoC when theres a limit to how many players can attack a city? ..
Was planning on buying this today but kind of upset over the fact that they think 25 vs 25 is even PvP at all.

zones are capped at 100. If you enter a zone as player # 101, you will actually be entering a mirrored zone of that instance. You can hear the other 100 players but you wont see them. Theyre in another instance of that same area.
With the high detail of this game, would more than 50 players in the same area even be playable? Low-spec PCs have trouble in WoW's 40 vs 40 Battleground when everyone's in the same place, I can't imagine this running anywhere near as smooth.

Sieges are instanced, and allow at a max 48 vs. 48 people, after they said it would be 100+ vs. 100+ people at the least. I do believe they will eventually be able to get the game at that point, but not right at launch. This is expected... you can't expect everything to be perfect, but you can't expect things to be permanent either. I can forsee the numbers that are allowed to slowly grow...
...otherwise there will be no point in mercenary guilds and less people and action available for sieging. If you're talking about everything else though, that's pretty much the only thing that has a limit of players per instanced map. There are many more in the actual gaming world that are allowed, it's basically sieging that has a limit to the amount allowed.
If only SW:TOR could be this epic...

100 limit kinda sucks to be honest I mean the zones are pretty large anyway aren't they? That sounds very limited to be honest...
Is there a way to warp between the mirrors like in Guild Wars, where you can say 'Meet in Ascalon instance 20' or something?

Each zone is named after the greek alphabet (excl alpha & beta) you hop between them as you wish, to join friends etc. Not sure on the 100 limit in the starting area its hard to tell.
The 48v48 thing as far as I'm aware is sieging, nothing to do with the zones.

It doesnt work that way, When you siege or Raid its instanced locked to whoever is invited by the raiding guild or defending guild. No one can just randomly jump in. If you read the official posts, it clearly states that the guild has to apply for siege using guild points that accrue. Once that gets completed they have to wait untill the city is vulnrable (certain time frame applies, i think 3 days). So easy answer is no noob can join in unless they are invited to by the leaders in charge of the raids or defense of that city.
*edit* However that doesnt mean you have to be in a guild to raid or defend, you can sell your services as a merc and the guild can hire you as a defender or raider for a specific battle. Funcom stated that there is a starting amount that the guild has to offer at the very least, so as to not cheapen the required amount to be hired.

Nope /instanceselection command will allow you jump instances also you cannot converse in global chat channel from people in other instances to my knowledge unlike OB.

The instance selection is also a drop down menu on your map compass listing all currently open zones/instances. F9 gives your location but doesn't seem to show your instance, thus far I have been unable to assertain how you can tell which instnce you are in.
Also since this topic is largely about grouping etc, I have found the way group members shown on the map to be not as helpful as it could be. They don't show on the map at all, they show on the compass but I have encountered quite a few bugs with this and when you get within compass range they often just dissapear.

I hope you are right about them eventually fixing this PvP situation i.e the numbers. I was looking forward to massive ass siege battles and was extremely pissed off when I heard it was 48vs48. Like I said in other threads I will still buy the game, but I am a little suspicious about this game after all the "BY the Way this doesnt work..." things/
this is something thats concerned me as well .i m not sure if i d like it . i guess it does limit lag . but the nice thing about warcraft was that you could get big battles in the citys sometimes and it was easy to meet up with a friend in an area . i m not sure how easy that would be in conan and how well this system will work . im reserving judgement .

Very hard to me to think about 48vs48 as an mmorpg. battlefiled have 32vs32. Armored combat 100vs100 lol

Try running AoC on a mid-end PC with 50 people in one place fighting each other...now imagine if there was 4 times as much people.The video showing around 70 people in one zone was a high-end pc, there was no fighting, special effects, etc. so it was quite smooth.
But all these fights sure do eat some FPS.
If there were no limit for Sieges, you guys would be complaining about the performance issues.
No matter what kind of miracle will happen, people will still keep complaining...
Me thinks that the limit will be raised in time, when PCs will get better, and AoC will be getting a better optimization.
