So is/was AoC ready for launch?

Simple question. If I buy AoC will I be bumping against a bunch of unfinished things? Or will I be running into a bunch of bugs?

Just a couple weeks ago during beta I ran into a bug where at night, I completely fell through the intro city, and it was an accepted thing by beta testers, are things like this common?

I am really sick of playing unready MMOs where ideas haven't come to actualization or it's rampant with bugs.

What you just said...so wait!  It was released early too.

AoC got one of those miracle patches. And no, I am not kidding. It has been so far a smooth launch, thankfully, at least in game.

I was part of the Early Access program and for 2 days, i had 0 problems at all. the game is polished and awesome. they patched in some funky stuff last night that was crashing a lot of AMD systems but that has been fixed. I was there at EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vanguard and Dark and Light launches and this is by far the smoothest one ive experienced yet. Im not trying to say there are no problems and that you wont ever have issues or run into bugs in the early going, but it really is performing very well so far so take from that what you will.

I personally think it is ready.  I've been in for Early Access, so I have been playing for 3 days now, and in my own personal opinion, I think its ready.

Don't get me wrong.  Its not w/out its glitches.  I crashed once every 6 hours and twice my graphics went a bit goofy, among other things.  The UI should be more customizable, and I find it hard to keep track of your team mates in your group when they run off.  There are also some login glitches that force me to restart the client twice.  So there are some glitches that they need to improve upon in the next month or two.

But here is the bottom line as far as I personally see it:  Its MORE than playable.  Its enjoyable.  Its fun.  There are more quests in the starting area to shake a stick at.  You can change instances at will to meet up with your buds.  My load times (after the game is loaded and I am in game) are not more than 5 seconds.

I think most people will be pleasantly surprised.  Its not perfect, but it is more than fun.

I'm not creative enough to have a signature

AoC improved heaps and bounds from beta to release. Miracle Patch indeed. Even the rendering improved, and massively so - its a piece of art now.

seriously, a couple weeks ago in CB, many felt that the game was not ready. Funcom told us repeatedly that what we were playing wasnt the release client.

    They were telling the truth.

AoC is, IMO, a work of art.

MMO's have really taken advantage of the persistent nature of the games to roll out very rough products lately. I think AoC is better than some of the recent ones but it really could have used some more time to polish things and get in things like dx10 ect. Unfortunately the money people decide when a game goes live and then the devs kind of rush to get as much done as they can before launch and then finish the game as they go. It didn't work for Vanguard, Tabula Rasa, or Potbs so time will tell if they can pull it off with this game.

So it seems that AoC has been improved significantly since beta even a couple weeks ago.

In general, the game ran smooth when it ran. However, it crashed on me every 20 minutes or so, and with the aggravatingly long load times (like a minute or two), I just gave up when combined with some significant bugs.

But it seems AoC is a relatively smooth launch. Now the real question, relative to LoTR, how smooth is it. I was impressed in Beta and Launch at how smooth the game was on every level. They didn't push a bunch of unfinished things and bugs, they made sure what was there was not only running well but very enjoyable. Its one of the few launches that I remember for an MMO that went extremely well.

I know no MMO (or any game) will be completely bug free, and there will always be a need for tweaking, but when the bugs and unfinished things make it more of a chore to play (which is what so many MMOs do, then fail) then it's not for me.

LOTRo Beta was smoother, IMO. But it seems that both games are launching well. During EA I never saw one bug complaint or gameplay comeplaint in OOC chat.

After multiple 6 hour sessions only once did I crash.
