For someoen who's never played it ever. I've never played or probably seen what a D&D board game looks like. Or cards if there are cards, etc.
Will I enjoy it as a really good MMORPG?

I dunno, it's hard to say. It's very different game from what is out there now. I, like you, do not know any of the D&D rules, so the hardest part of this game for me was how to build your character right at creation. I got pretty good helpful advice here and on the official forums on what points to put into what. After that it's kinda how you want to play your character.
Only way to tell is give the trial a go. If you don't get a trial key send me a PM with your email address I'll send you a referrel key. The trial page has been acting up lately and not sending out keys, so if that happens shoot me a PM.
Goodluck in whatever you decide!

Like Seven said it's very different from what is currently out there. Most people either seem to really love it or really hate it, the only way to tell is give it a shot. Just be warned, the learning curve can be fairly steep.
Do you like group based PvE instances in your other MMo's that you have played? For example when I did play WoW the only thing I like outside of some PvP scenario's was PvE Instances, that is where imo the fun is at, not whacking something in a field. So if you like group based instance PvE, then yes. DDO is the best at that imo. That is it's reason for being.
