Well its only 1 day passed retail but I am sick of seeing Aoc everywhere, almost all game sites have a massive add or is invested with aoc videos.. and now the final straw a full screen border add on gamespot.
I have yet to try this game.. waiting a month for the hype to die down so I can see the true face AoC but man its annoying now. "head will roll" SHUT UP!
I am sorry I had to let it out.

hehe, wasnt it like this when WoW came out too? I got so sick of it i couldnt play / test it for a long time, and when i finaly did, i stopped playing fast :-P
Dont worry, in a few weeks its will be biz as usual, most mmo's get hyped like hell in the beginning then things turn to normal.
Good luck!
"Heads Will Roll"
Im sick to death of this hypeshit. People keep saying how VG was overhyped. No! This is real hype. Ads everywhere, I'm dead sure they spend at least 20 mil $ for the adv campaign.
REALITY CHECK
Does it matter realy? They wanna promote their game, just like anyother biz promote their products, you just browsing the sites where the ads are, not their fault :-D
Ads are VITAL to an MMOs success. The more people you get playing at the beginning, the more money you have, and the more development you can push out in the early stages when development is most important. Anyone that's played Planetside before should know how a great game can just die because of poor marketing.
Just ignore the ads if you hate them so much. One of the reasons you're able to visit many of these sites is because of the ads, if not THE reason.
You are so sick of AoC being all over the web that you come to mmorpg to post about it, spreading it further.
they promote their game, I see nothing wrong there
God I'm so sick of seeing Starcraft II plastered all over the interwebs....oh wait...
Ads are annoying no matter what. I simply just ignore them so the AOC hype doesnt affect me

More adv/hype, the more it is made for the mass pop culture.

good one sir!
Which is the point.
good one sir!
That is debatable. Why? How far away is the release of Starcraft 2? At the very least, over 6 months out if Blizzard doesn't push it back any further as they have been known to do with their previous games. When Starcraft 2 gets within 2 weeks of the release date, then this argument could be made if Blizzard hasn't infected any website even remotely gaming related like Funcom has. Given that, I am still very tired with seeing all the huge AoC banners and advertisements taking over websites I frequent. So much to the point that I've actually updated my bookmarks to avoid pages without the advertisements or stopped visiting a number of those websites if I cannot bypass said advertisements.
my eys are burning from having so much fun playing aoc
My point is that we will see Starcraft II plastered all over the place soon enough - with the hype and Blizzard's PR machine it will happen and it will be huge.
And when it does what will the OP's position be? Will they still have Starcraft II (an ad for the game in addition to all the other visual noise found on gaming sites out there) in their sig? In essence I was highlighting the irony of their position, which I think is pretty valid. They they sick of gaming ads and the associated hype surrounding big releases generally, or just that associated with Age of Conan
Personally the ad's for Starcraft and Age of Conan don't bother me although I can see how they might bother others. But having an ad for one of the most anticipated games this year in their sig does weaken their argument, no? Anyway I tend to be more peeved by the general clutter and confusion that is sites like Gamespot and IGN. Ugly stuff indeed!
WAR will have their ads all over the place soon too... nothing new
It's the games who don't splash their ads all over the place that you have to worry about. In this day and age, if you don't hit the people over the head with your advertising, it will go by unnoticed. You only get one chance to launch.
same will happen when the wow expansion comes out...but you will probably love that...
Same stuff, different games
