How large and long is the first patch after intstall?

Can someone tell me if the first patch (update) takes many many hours to download and update content on our computers, or is my computer just not making the proper connection to download?

It starts to download, then it stops, says Updating Content, then I see nothing else happening... is that how it set up to work?

yeah just let it be. It did that for me as well but itll get going.  So yes that is normal for it to sit there on that for a bit

There have been numerous issues with Anti-virus and Firewall programs when it comes to the AOC updater.  If you use Micro trend for example I recomend you disable it before running the updater   It still downloads but can stop totally and dling something like 2-3bs per min.

The first patch is about 690 megs long. Just relax and find something else to do while it updates :)

think of patching as a queue system for aoc. thats how the game appears to have a nice launch. people just cant login and play.  smart way to do it i guess...also gives them time to see in advance how many people are going to be playing the game and then adjust their servers accordingly.

I installed last night and there are actually three patches that total a little over 700mb. Total time for me to download and install  was only about 30 minutes, so I either have a great connection or you have a bad one.

Yeah, only took about 20 minutes to patch and install- but then again i have a brand new comp with barely anything on it and FIOS so things fly.

na i just had some horrible patching experiences in CB. though the patches were huge and some times before even having the first big patch download had to get a new patch the same size afterwards so i guess 700mb wouldnt be too bad

I have Trend Micro running on my system, and annoyingly - it didn't even prompt me and say this app is trying to access whatever. Same deal, once I started the patching it was beyond dog slow, but after disabling Trend Micro, it went nice and speedy.
