Anyone else pumping the Assassin?

I've played an assassin/rogue type character in every video that's ever existed, where you can create something similar. I've ALWAYS been a huge fan of being able to completely rape one person so hard, that they never knew what hit them.

This assassin is the EXACT type of assassin I thought an assassin in a game should be. It does only one thing... kill. It isn't a tank, so if you do manage to get an additional mob or 2 on you, you either have to run or to pray that you get some lucky crits in. But so far, I'm loving this class. My solo DPS is beyond amazing, and with this class for PvP..... don't even get me started.

I played a Rogue on WoW, and had a similar rush from the world PvP with it... but not the same as from AoC. This game REALLY feels like you are an assassin with the blatantly obvious job of the title.

All in all, I give this assassin class a 9.8/10. I think they could have done VERY little to improve this class.

Anyone else have similar views, or feel differently?

You and about the other 50% of the population agree...

I myself don't really like the assassin. Well I do, but I don't like playing a class that is either completely nerfed or completely unfair to the other classes, in this case #2... I may play one once they're evened out and the entire freakin' server isn't playing one... but I can guarantee Assassins, Barbarians, and Rangers are going to be the dominant classes in the game just for having benefits to stealth and the world being FFA PvP (meaning stealth constantly = must).

I may play a Barbarian, but I'm leaning more towards either the HoX, the DT, or the BS... mixed melee is the way to go for me.

I started one and got him to lvl 8.  Seemed ok so far (i was hoping he'd be like a Shade from AO which he kind of is). I got stuck on that mission were you have to sneak past 234242487234 gaurds to ease drop on some guy but as soon as servers come back up I'll be trying him out again. Like him better then my Guardian though I'll say that much.

They are not THAT good, I think it's prety balance... anyways this game is more about group PvP so if an assassin don't jump you, you should be able to have a good fight with him. If he does? well depending on your level, good luck. But that could be said with most of the classes.

I'm playing one but so far I'm disappointed in hiding as it really seems to be pretty weak.  In Tortage it worked pretty good but now in the lvl 20+ world I rarely use it, things seem to see through it almost all the time.   Also as an assassin we have caster armor so hits take you down pretty fast.  If you mess up on a combo it can be all over... we do great damage but also die pretty fast if we make a mistake.

I'm thinking of trying a barbarian they have better armor and get stronger as they get injured.  Might have better survivability.  And a ranger is also a good choice I think they have even better armor and in OB they were pretty amazing.

I tried the sassin a quickie. Only thing that bugged me during my brief try out was the runnig animation while hidden. Looked like he was in a hurry to the toilet. I know i know... not very informative but that dang running looks funny as hell. Squatting fast through dark alleys.

haha, i was kind of the opposite. i got my assassin to lvl 8 (which was going to be my main) and i made a guardian (which is level 17 now) and im loving it.

i for the most part agree with the op. this is the first assassin class ive really liked. funcom did a great job with this class. But yes it has its drawbacks. but for the main part im loving it

I'm 70% likely playing an assassin as main (maybe a ranger or other).

liek you said soloing mobs is a challenge in pve. the class is VERY squishy. I also played the assassin/rogue in past mmo's but never has he been this squishy.

its probably the worst class for trying to solo in pve. AoC's pve is in mobs, which means you have 3 or 4 monsters beating on you at the same time. this is balanced for most classes by using AoE damage, stuns/knockbacks etc. however assassin is very single target focused with daggers, doesn't get much aoe. this coupled with his low defence rating means you often die in pve.

however the class should shine as usual in pve groups with healers and tanks, PvP and especially 1 vs 1 pvp.

I dont recomend assassin to everyone, its a much harderclass to play in AoC.

while it is true that rogues will be most popular. you people need to realise it is the playstyle that makes them so, not how balanced they are. people whine that say the assassin is overpowered because they get killed by them so much, but DUH if 50% of the population is assassins then yes, you are most liekly to be killed by one.

    Tempest of Set FTW.

I read the description and it describes these priests as maniacal, evil and willing to sacrifice beautiful virgins for our god Set.  Since I sacrifice virgins in RL, this seemed like an obvious choice for me to play.

Only had a chance to play for a few hours last night but i'm personally enjoying a HoX.  If things go right i can wreck entire groups w/a boss- if i miss a combo - i can go down quickly lol.  A cloth wearing 2 h sword wielding class with aoes that can turn in a demon.  I may have chose this guy at random but he seems to be the class  for me so far.
