And atm I have to run the game on low setting..still get lag in tortage too
I'm a lil disapointed but hoping theres lots of optimising on the way, as AOC req windows rating 4.0 and recomends 4.8
I was hoping to run it all at medium settings.
I'm sure things will improve tho.
Again someone with a completely capable computer, with the graphics card holding you back. Quite frustrating really, I'm suffering the same, 4gb ram 2.2dual core and an 8400M GT. "
Hi! My husband and I are getting ready to build two new computers (this will be our first go at building our own computers but now a days things seem so plug and play that we figure with a good tutorial we could give this a shot and learn some stuff along the way...you never know until you try) however I would like to know if the components im looking at will run AoC on High with little to NO problems (preferrably): AMD Athlon Dual Core 6000 (3 gig) Nvidia 8800 GTS (628 mb) 4 Gigs of DDR2 Ram Windows Vista 64bit version ....if anyone has a good suggestion for a motherboard I would love to hear it, I am currently looking at a GIGABYTE ATX motherboard that is compatable with DDR2 and DDR3. We can't wait to play AoC and the plan was to be ready for release but you know how life gets in the way sometimes. Glad to hear that many people are having success...I've heard a few bad stories but nearly as many as I suspected.
with what you are going to pay on that, you might as well go and get
C2D 8400 or a Q9300 with EVGA nVidia 780i SLI board, would give you far more upward capabilities than you'd get from the AMD chipset. Which is sad, as I don't like Intel either, but I'm not blind to the fact their chips are far better than what AMD is putting out right now.
If you are going to stick with the AMD, then Asus, Abit and Gigabyte make some very good boards, I think there is an inexpensive gigabyte board that has SLI (link: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16813128014 ) that would probalby work for you.

I haven't been a big fan of Intel in the past (lets just say lots of problems)...but Ill take a look at them again.
Currently Playing: FFXIV:ARR Looking Forward to: Wildstar
I'm fairly happy with game performance so far, quite shocked that it was so smooth to be honest. I only experienced one, maybe two very slight moments of lag/slowdown after I entered Tortage city(it was bustling with activity at the time).
I would say I averaged between 40-75 FPS with peaks around 98ish FPS with an occasional drop in the 20's in heavily populated areas. Very smooth for the most part...I was able to play mostly at max settings, with one or two slight adjustments to render distance, etc...I normally turn those down, because I prefer FPS. Currently using Windows XP 32 bit and the game looks and plays very well(yes, I was still able to see the sun beams through the trees)
The loading times are not bad at all.....5-7 seconds max(for me anyway)
I'm a 34 year old gamer who has lots of experience with various MMO's....this one by far, really shocked me for a launch day..I'm impressed and quite pleased so far.
My current set up:
Windows XP 32 bit
AMD Dual core/X2 6000 3.0ghz
4gigs of OCZ SLI 800 mhz ram(only using 2 gigs due to OS)

Fps are tolerable to me usually about 20, I realize when I upgrade my pc it'll be much better. Here's my pc set up at the present.
Win Xp Home Edition
Amd 64 4000+
Radeon 2400 pro
2 gigs Ram
Specs -
Windows XP Professional SP3
Intel 2.4ghz DualCore E6550
Nvidia 8600 GTS 640MB
2GB of Kingston DDR2 667Mhz
500GB WD Sata 7200RPM
Shitty compat-friendly motherboard.
Running Conan on my widescreen HD Gateway at 1680x1050 on HIGH graphics with AA and AF off.
Get fps ranging from 40 to 70 fps.
Runs pretty smooth if you ask me, I built my computer at 700-800 dollars too. Gonna do an upgrade whenever I get the cash to.
