No pay no forum access

So they dont want us to see all the complaints. I want to know all about gamebreaking things and whatever before i even will consider buying this game.

Something is obviously seriously wrong with the game since you cant get access to there forums unless you pay.

you have to set up your account.

They posted that they want to focus on paying customers at first.  I can't imagine all the people trolling the forums if they didn't do that.  There are a great deal of people looking for away to put the game down, probably worried there game will lose player base.

Yes im sure they will work it out when enough has payed lol. It doesnt take a degree in rocket sceince to setup a working forum in 2008.

It is unfortunate for the player community to not be able to access and participate in official forums at this time. However, it may not be such a bad thing for Funcom to have forums down within early launch days, even for current players. Complaints tend to accumulate during a game's launch for the bugs/downtime/difficulties that players experience. A lot of negativity (possibly unnecessary) can be avoided with forums back up after Funcom goes over the things that are missing/broken.

You see, there is this thing they call bandwidth......

They are up but you have to pay.   If you are paying you have to setup an account.  If you can't log on, check; 1) am I paying customer 2) did I setup my forum account

if you still can't log on email funcom b/c they are very up to date with known issues and that one isn't listed... remember you have to be paying...

The forums are working for me and threads are being monitored heavily for negative posts. This is understandable because having the types of complaints that we see here posted on the official forums will be much more discouraging for the players.

Before you post again learn to sound less like a learning challenged third grader. It might make people more willing to listen to your complaints

The underlined words do not flow well together. In fact, it makes one stumble over the words as they read them together. Perhaps you should learn how to string words together properly before you jump on someones back for ONE MINOR mistake, because you yourself are no word wizard.

You should have used "disabled" instead of "challenged". It just sounds better and doesn't make the reader stutter as they read it as I am sure you sputtered it out of your mouth, Gomer.

    But back on topic....

Yes I agree that the forums should be opened to paying customer to POST ONLY. However, the whole gaming community should be able to read the forums. WoW does this. SOE does it. Why won't Funcom? Hmmm...I wonder why...perhaps their game is teh suxorz?

AoC. The same game play and instanced PvP as WoW! Nothing says "Let's go to AV!" like 48vs48 seige instanced PvP.

So they are deleting posts by paying customers who post a negative comment about their game? Man...is Funcom being run by a communist regime?

Even WoW let's their community bitch and complain about the crap fest it is.

  • NadiaNadia Member UncommonPosts: 11,798

Funcom said they will give READ ONLY access to everyone in the future

it just doesnt help some people now tho,

that paid for the retail game and yet are unable to access the forums

I wasn't talking about paying customers. OFC they deserve support. FC is working on it, be patient.

I was talking about the thousands of people that aren't playing that would clog up the forums.

  • DouhkDouhk Member Posts: 1,019

I wouldn't be surprised if the FC official forums went down suspiciously a couple days right before launch (and apparently still are) on purpose. It is definitely a smart thing to keep complaints (much of it usually at launch just untrue "gossip" if you will) to a minimum.

If you really want to learn a little bit about actual faulties of this game the best source (or at least the best we got at the moment) would be third-party (disconnected from the actual game company) forums here or third-party game review sites such as IGN and the likewise.

Oh, yes, now I remember. Those who can't  access Funcom forums aren't allowed to post in any other forum either. Who knows what could they say... I heard Funcom is sending assassins to their homes so they can't tell anybody all the troubles they're having. That's why there're not a plethora of complaints in these forums, for example.

I for one AM a paying customer, with a registered authentication key and a lvl 18 BS who still can not access the forums. Even tried changing my password/forum name multiple times to no avail.

I have a email out to Funcom but I'm not holding my breath. The game is great but their customer service is pitiful imo.

You are aware it can take atleast 30 minutes for your login name and password for the forums to be updated?

You are also aware some people created forum account 24 hours ago?

No pay, no access, and thank goodness.

Now the forums are nice and civil and free of trolls.

There's a very good reason they did that, and I agree with it 100%

  • voodookhanvoodookhan Member Posts: 267

I'm one of the unlucky who can't get to the forums. Says I don't have permission (can't even get read access) even though I:

    a. registered with my normal code (not just the preorder code)

    b. set up my forum account

    c. waited over 30 mins (actually I've waited over 24 hours now)

    d. paying subscriber

For those of you who actually got on the forums: are they fielding any technical support questions on there? For example, the CD install is throwing me an error (yes, my anti-virus is turned off and this is on XP. The same CD install on my Vista box gave me no errors, go figure). Has anyone else on the forums mentioned this?

You have got to be shitting me. Restricting the ability to post is reasonable yes, but blocking the access completely is simply bad form.

The only other MMO i can think of that did this was Hellgate London. I'm sure I don't need to tell you what happened to that game.

The sole reason a company does this is to further milk box sales, nothing else.

has nothing to do with bandwidth. Get your facts straight before they make you look silly.

Forums were down today for everyone.

Forums will not be available for public view until later (after the initial server start up fiasco. They're smart. They remembered what happened to them during AO's start up day)

damn i'm in the wrong course then.  what a waste of 3 years.

anyway...i hate it when they decide to go down the buy the game to access the forums route as its usually the best place for information.

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

You can't really fault a company that tries to do whatever it takes to ride the initial hype and milk box sales. They need to feed their devs after all.

100% of all official MMO forums does not let you post on their forums but you can read them; therefor you wouldnt need to worry about non paying members to troll the boards.

Also, the forums over there arent nice and civil (not in the General Discussion forums); ony of the developers had to sticky about people not listening to the mad playerbase.
