So the OP doesn't like AoC.   He doesn't have to play.

There will be people who won't like WAR.  They don't have to play.

I don't think it's justified suggesting there will be only one good MMO this year.     Different people have different preferences with what they enjoy.

That's the nice thing when companies start offering their customers decent products, we consumers get to choose.

AoC seems to be turning out to be stable, decent product, and the market has needed one after so many recent train wrecks.  And frankly, any game that makes the Blizzard Devs lose sleep is worthwhile IMO lol

if AoC sux and you are waiting on WAR as the last hope, then i suggest you start a new hobby like gardening or collecting corks... cause at this point in time WAR and hope don't go together. I won't elaborate as i cant...

then your post doesn't mean anything... Sure...you can SAY you are in WAR beta and SAY it sucks but then again you could choose to listen anyone and believe what anyyone says..lets just say that you are posting on the wrong forums pal.

because i spend enough time researching and watching videos and reading reviews and articles to know enough about WAR from this point on to realize that this game IS going to be great and i personally don't care HOW great AoC is or HOW Great any other MMO comming out is...as long as there is one server with enough people on each side...even if it is the same people everyday...i will STILL play because I believe WAR will be great and it offers everything anyone could want in an MMO.

You Want Details??   say so and ill post them to the best of my knowledge... I admit I am a fan of WAR some could call me a Fan Boy   but you know what at this point I don't care because i bet more then a few people here will back me up...

I hope AoC does well and Funcom is a good company i like what i played of AO...WAR and Hope do go together and I can tell you one thing i will be yelling in the Fall...Waagh!

    I'll back that....... WAAGH!!!!

While I agree the Wowhammer comment is most likely a stupid mistake, I hope Aion does well.

Personally I either hate or love games. After watching a few Aion videos I definately love what I see.

    STOP WHINING!

I normally don't browse forums for WAR so it doesnt get my unique visit count and stays low on the list, but that title is pretty bad.

I'm in AoC, was in it for Early Access aswell. Tortage 1-20 wasn't fun for me, others enjoyed it and others didn't enjoy it. The game becomes a standard MMO after level 20, but with the more popular multiplayer aspects redone and put together, frontier/sieges, endgame raids, and pvp instances. The fact is anyone could go on about this game, good or bad. It has enough to keep someone talking for a long time.

In my personal opinion, AoC is a solid well-built game with the right features and a large enough pre-order subscription (700k) to withstand the standard 1-year test of time.

I am sure WAR will do just fine, but to say AoC is a real stinker and then looking at war and even wondering if it's the MMO genre's last hope, well... Thats like playing Oblivion and then saying neverwinter nights 2 was your last hope at the singleplayer rpg genre since oblivion was so bad. Btw for those that don't know, oblivion was awesome. And I compared it to neverwinter nights 2 because they are both great games, and both focus on different gaming aspects to reach their audience.

Comparing a lion to a tiger and wondering which is gonna kill the gazel... well.. just don't forget that while the lion is physically here and you can critique it up close and in person, doesn't mean the tiger will be any better.

"Sometimes, things that may or may not be true are the things a man needs to believe in the most. People are basically good. Honor, courage, virtue mean everything. Power and money, money and power mean nothing. Good always triumphs over evil. Love, True Love Never Dies."

What you going to do if it wasnt? Track me down and beat me up for my lunch money? lol

Seriously though, dont read too much into it. I call the other games Warcrack, and Evercrack... and I still play those games quite regularly.  I havent figured out a name for Aion yet... but when I do, you can be sure Ill be calling it that. :P

everyone should hope all games do well  we could use more variety in the MMO world...who knows in time We could have the Four big ones WAR WOW AoC and Aion (with more sci fi and sandboxes along the way) i really think in a few years we will see a lot of players playing a lot of games

I dont think Ive ever wished for a game to crash and burn out of any sense of hatred for the company. I have however, out of some sort of perverted amusement wished for games to fail just because they were hyped so much... like it was the Second Coming of MMOJesus or something. hehe

So the point of this post was just to keep saying AoC sucks?  If it was known that the first 20 levels was a tutorial, and you didn't get passed that, you're opinion doesn't really matter.  If you want to play WoW or EQ they are both there.  You sound like you're about 12-15 from your posts.  Why not give specific descriptions about what you hated about AoC?  I'm curious to know what AoC is like, but saying you played for 15 min and hated it doesn't help me, or anyone trying to find information about the game.

btw:  I didn't like WoW much for the first 15 minutes, but I stuck it out and ended up having fun.  You can't tell what a MMO is like until you have a decent amount of spells/attacks.  Everyone knows the most basic attacks don't cut it.

i dont think AoC is a "big one".. if ppl are attracted to fantasy stuff like WoW, then its gonna be only WoW and WAR , and Guildwars 2

  • kitsunegirlkitsunegirl Member Posts: 525

    And Aion...

Also, I think this Dyamo112 is Pencilrick... he was on the forums last night for a long time bashing AoC (in a somewhat polite manner though). Just a thought... since he seems to not have played past the tutorial, and Pencilrick admitted to only getting to level 7 and announcing he hated the game. >.>

Aha! I have my  name for AoC: Anarchy Online Continued! lol (joking).

I thought you were into Spellborn, but maybe that is another Kitsune I am confusing you with.

    Delanor

  • kitsunegirlkitsunegirl Member Posts: 525

That might have been me. Spellborn is still out there. Slated for later release. Havent heard of anything new. Still just as mind-blowingly pretty, like Aion appears to be - two different art styles though.

It's an illusion to expect the next-to-be-released MMO to be better than what's already out there. At some point it will happen, but waiting for it is counter productive.

  • kitsunegirlkitsunegirl Member Posts: 525

"Whats better than whats already out there" is largely an opinion as Im not likely to fall into fan-girling over over-hyped games til I get to play them for myself. But so far nothing out there has broken my addiction to my Draenei Shamaness... or my fae characters on EQ2. heh

    *************NEWSFLASH*********************

MAN DOESN'T ENJOY AOC. AOC FANBOIS FLOCK TO WAR FORUMS

Today during predictable occurence over at MMORPG.com a gamer decided he didn't like AOC. As expected all the AOC fanbois who should've been enjoying the game flocked over to the WAR forums to call said poster a "troll". The irony of the situation truly calls for a "pot meet kettle" type of comment.

Aion looks a lot promising, awesome gameplay, awesome grafix just needs a bit more publishing and a new high quality site so that all people know about Aion and dont think its just another Asian grinder like L2 cause thats for sure what it is not.

It is a combination with the gameplay of wow and improved grafix o Guild wars.

Warhammer seems good too but i dont think it can make it to top....

    Wtf is pencilrick..

And yes im far passed the tutorial.

Look I dont completly and utterly HATE the game im just saying it wasnt all it was hyped up to be and less than impressive. Im really irritated that all these MMOs coming out over the past few years have been real let downs for me. If WAR does in fact suck ass like everything else has im done right then and there. Im selling my desktop and getting a cheap laptop to use for general web browsing when im bored.

NOTE: I sincerely hope that's Pencil RICK and not Pencil *ICK..!

I didn't start playing WoW until the second day after release and I was ready to uninstall it.
I did give it time, and I still play it today. Sure I had hoped that DDO, Vanguard, and LOTRO would be better than they were. Don't judge AOC until it's been out 2 months.

WHOA WHOA WHOA!! Wait a second here!!

    ......

I thought AoC has had a VERY VERY smooth launch?!? Well atleast that's what most of the fanbo..err I mean people are saying about it? Right?

    Right???!

Lol at this kid who has trouble with the simplest of reading comprehension. Guess he doesn't understand the other guy was talking about wow. Also from this we can see that he actually has not even played AoC otherwise he would know that AoC launch was smooth. This kid is obviously trolling as much as he can and showing his age with it.

Playing != Installing a game and making a toon.

Lol... lots of posts in the WAR forum about AoC being a stinker, even though it has sold so well that Funcom aren't selling any more copies till they've upgraded their serverpark.

To be honest I hope both games do well.

    WAR: Last Hope?

    More like....

    WAR: New Hope!

The devs are on top of everything and reporting about the smallest details to the fan base.  This I like very much!  They're making sure their previous, current & potential customers are being well informed!

    ...and of course you can't beat the RvR aspect and the incredible Tome of Knowledge! {my new love}

I can understand you're a fan because you simply invested money AND time into a new game.
But I also paid 70 Euro for the CE and still I clearly see the pain points in Conan.
I think Warhammer is on the only right track and to you WAR fans I think there will be a LOT of Conan players who will ditch the game when WAR comes out. I even think there will be a lot of Wow players who'll come to WAR ... via Conan ....(but most won't even stay that long with Conan).
Mythic has at least chosen for a VERY wise decision: don't use OFF line graphics with an ON line game.
About 90% of ALL Conan errors are caused by this simple design error.
I say it once again: you can NOT have Oblivion/The Witcher like graphics in a multi mass on line role playing game.
Sacrificing EVERYTHING an MMORPG stands for to have some nice earrings and a few hairs more on the left eyebrow is just a bad game design decision.
This way is NOT the leading way for future MMORPG's.
Just as if the left eyebrow is THAT important when fighting with your Avatar at a 15 meter control distance !
Graphics is wow the first 5 minutes you play a game and than it's OVER. Done. Then GAMEPLAY enters and BUGS and FUN. And closed up instanced loading times which kill every lopen world feeling.
I expect to have a lot of fun in seamless WAR, and just like every new MMORPG I'll play it.
One thing though has to be GOOD in WAR and that's the ANIMATION in PvP fights. They have got to go UP.
A little faster, a little more swing, a LITTLE less effects (because I get a headache from TOO flashy effects) and than the game will be just fine.
I LOVE the fact they DID NOT go for "heads will roll" gore.
The RvR will blow Conan right out of the water and some WOW players could be lured in (well the PvP players). I am one of them.
This winter I'll play WAR along with WOWWotLK if both companies will do their homework.
Conan will be in the waste baskets by then at 10 Euro a piece...
    -----
Conclusion: At the end of 2008, the landscape could be very clear:
You have the Wow community (lots of PVE and LAST chance for world PVP), the War community (best RvR and the good old days of DAoC design system) , EVE hypers (I call them the cricket fans of modern day MMO's) and a very small niche for PVE lovers of Middle Earth.
The rest is for the would be MMO's, with LOTS of hype, plans, forum talks, but with very much awful bad gameplay.

Couldn't have said it better myself.  I think WAR is going to break all sales records (including AoC's) when it is released.  Mark my word.
