Need Advice? Please if you can.

Hello. I was going to wait but after seeing the screens of AoC i have to get in there as soon as possible lol. I have not purchased the game yet because i know my pc probably wont run it. Please keep in mind before you make suggestions that price will be a important issue for me because im not rich.

Ok heres my computer specs; (please dont flame)

Processor; AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3700+, MMX, 3-DNow, 2.2 Ghz

Memory; 958 Ram

Graphics; ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 Series. 256mb (its the onboard card that came w/ PC)

What should i replace? I want to replace the least amount possible and if i can get 15-20 FPS on low settings i will be more than happy. I can make more upgrades in the future but im wanting to go at a slow pace. I cannot afford a new pc...if i could...i would...but i cant. Will i have to replace tons of things? When i go to the "canirunit" website...the only thing it failed me for was my graphics card...BUT...get this....under the "Fail" everything listed was green and meet the requirements (speaking about the graphics card).

If i get a graphics card...will i have to get a power supply?

What is overclocking?

Please keep in mind that im a total noob when it comes to computers. Please help me out if you can and tell me what i could go and pick up from my local circuit city to at least get me in game on low settings and playable. Im a major pvp fan but i realize i should go pve for a while untill i can make substantial upgrades. If you reply to this post in a mature manner thank you so much, i wanna get ingame with you guys and im so sick of WoW i dont know what to do.

Thanks again

Edit; Also if i need to post more info about my pc please dont hesitate to ask. My pc is a HP and i purchased it about 2-3 years ago. Eagerly awating replies because omfg that game looks sooo nice from the screenshots i seen. Wow...just wow. Im sure ill be pleased even on low settings.

And id just like to say ive read the first 14 pages of this forum almost every thread. I know you guys are tired of questions such as this and im sorry to irritate you. Im just excited about this game lol. Ive been in WoW for far, far too long.

Can anyone answer a different kind of question? How are the combat graphics? Will it make me so happy like the old SWG did before it was ruined? I really miss cool graphics when fighting.

     Go to newegg.com.

Get a video card, power supply and more ram. Heck, get 4G of ram and at least an nVidia 8800 gt. Newegg usually has some deals on getting combos.

Im useing a AMd, 6000 +( x 2), 64 bit single channel with 4gig ram, 8600gts 512 card, 7200 rpm serial hard drive, with Vista. Have graphics turned all the way up, and useing DX10. Zero Lag. Cost me 1100.00 and that was to have it built. Paid 200 on top of that for a fancy case.

That sounds awesome and i would love to be in your shoes. However, if i told my girl that i was gonna spend 1100 to get in conan she would probably piss her pants:(

I was looking more to replace just the minimum to be able play on low settings 15-20 fps. Dammmmnnn i wanna play. Im not even sure if it WONT run on my pc currently. I havent bought the game yet. Im just going off of what i see other people say (when they show they have a pc stronger than mine) and are still having issues.

I definitely dont want to pick up the game..bring it home..install it..patch it...and then get a message saying i cant run it. Thanks for all replies and any that are to come. I really appreciate the advice/help.

Well I can guarantee your graphics card will not be able to run it on any playable level I'm afraid, my 8400M GT is holding my 4gb ram and dual 2.2 processor back, and I max out on 25fps on pretty crap graphic quality. The graphics render worse than on WoW, which I have on full settings, as well has having some pretty low FPS in cities (5-15). Nonetheless I'm enjoying the game.

So graphics card definitely needs an upgrade, get something with at least 512 memory, I have that and still the game closes with "ran out of memory". Your RAM and processor should be capable of running the game on the lowest settings but if you want any sort of smooth play I really suggest 3+MB RAM and switching onto a dual core, but if you want to go component at a time, get a new graphics card. 8800GTS is advised, will run it beautifully.

Thank you for reply!! What do you mean when you say "switch to a dual core". Ive installed ram sticks and a graphics card before on my own....but thats about it. Is this thing you speak of expensive? Thank you very much for taking time to reply. Im keeping a close eye on page because i want in game asap lol

Well I personally am not that tech savvy.

You currently have a single core processor, ie 1 processor that runs on 2.2GHz. A dual core processor is where there are 2 of these single components that tie together to improve performance, ie my laptop has a dual core 2.2Ghz processor which is pretty much the equivelent of double the processing speed of yours. To run this game reasonably well you will need a single core like yours that runs at more than 3GHz, or a dual core of 1.5Ghz each or more. However to upgrade your processor it is more difficult than slapping in a stick of RAM, and sometimes involves having to buy an entirely new motherboard!

well u need more then a graphics card. a new processor is in order aswell i think. maybe just a whole new system but not to crazy with the parts.

C2D E6000 series is now cheaper thanx to the E8000 series and strangly they are all close to the same price. Powersuplly  just needs to bee 450 or higher if u got a older Geforce or ATI card but the new 3870s use like 100watts of power. Ram cheap get 3 g's at least.

but if thats not ur forte

Overclocking: I dont have much experiance on AMD overclocking but you can head over to the www.ocforums.com and they have tuturials on how to OC AMD processors.

Ok first of you wont need 4g ram or a geforce 8800. but looking at youre specs you are going to need a rebuild.

Geforce 8600 rearly is min i would recomend the gforce 8600gts can get for a bout £100 i run crysis on high settings with this card with nice framerates

You current prosesser is only single core youre going to have to go duel core as lots of the latest games are more prosesser dependant than gpu dependant. you can get nice amd duel cores for about £140 maybe cheaper im just giveing routh estimates.

I assume youre current prosesser is 939 socket one so you most likely looking at new motherboard for duel core thats about £40-£80

Ram i would recomend min of 1.5gb preferibly 2gb £70-£90

    cheap pc case £20

    450w psu £20-£30

keep current hard drive if you whant save cash if not you can get a new one for about £40 150gb

same as hard drive for cd drives keep current or get new for about £30-£40

You dont have to spend a fortune to have half decent gameing rig.It can be done on a budget best bet is goto a small pc shop in youre town/city talk with them see what they say pm/email me if you like more info. Stay away from big chain stores like pcworld they will screw you over with crapy builds and crap components.

Prices are all rought estimates dont hold me to them.
