I'm still uncertain what I want to play, mostly because I'm so interested in a few classes and I know I'm not alone.... so I thought I would make a poll and ask people to post mini-reviews of their favourite class!
Unfortunately there aren't enough options in the poll to put all 12 classes, so it will only involve the archetypes. But I'd love to see people's thoughts on each class - Thanks and have fun

WTB Bear Shaman Info to tide me over until I can buy the game myself =(

Bear Shamans are the only priest class that can wear Medium armor. They are more melee based than the other two priests and wield 2 handed blunt weapons. They get nice augmentation buffs to increase their overall defense and melee abilities. Overall, they play more like a Hybrid class as like most SHamans in other MMO's.

Probably right up my alley. My first 70 in WoW was a Shaman, I just hope there are memorable enough abilities to keep me playing him (Windfury for ex.)
The feat trees look confusing for a solo build. Melee damage buffs in both trees, scattered through-out.

The closest thing I can think of to a Bear Shaman, if I wanted to draw a parallel, would be Vanguard's Disciple class -- a class that delivers its damage and channels much of its healing through melee, and has very few anti-ranged options (as opposed to most games' Shaman class which balances damage output with melee and magic). Except Bear Shamans are built to take more damage, which I prefer over higher evasion.
Almost every review I've seen says that 1-20 as a Bear Shaman is tough, but after 25 it gets very, very good. I'm only 16 yet, but I'm satisfied with the options given to me.
Healers will also be happy to know about something else AoC has that's not often advertised: PC Collision Detection. Group dynamics can open up now that it's possible to actually shield a healer with another body. Whether enough chokepoints exist to take advantage of this is another story.
I'm hoping to see some brief reviews for Barbarian / Ranger / Assassin / Dark Templar / Guardian and Conqueror, as they all interest me hehe

I'm currently playing a Herald Of Xolti on a PVP server. Let me tell you, getting through level 7-9 was quite difficult. I can't tell you how many times I died at level 9 fighting level 9s. Just two of them would be able to take me out. Though once i reached level 10, this got so much easier. At 10 you get two defence buff spells, one lasts an hour the other 5 minutes. It was the change I needed, suddenly i was doing alot more damage then before, I actually had defence and life to work with.
Then the feats, I was originally going to go into Avatar, it is based around fighting, but for some reason I put points into possession, and let me tell you I am not going to look back. The 'Hell Breath' spell that I never used, I now use every 3 seconds, instant casted and it is my second most damaging ability. Strongest being a combo attack that has a 60 second cool down
In PvP, i've had some fun. Over in white sands isle even after trying not to kil anyone unless they attacked first, people will try and kill you no matter the level. I was passing by one of the secnd respawn areas in that island, I just attacked by a same level Demonologist. I start with 'Hell Breath' and that does about 1/4th his life, kill him easily with the second one. Directly after that, I spot an Assassin I assumed sneaking up, run a bit to heal for a second, and start on him, he goes down pretty fast once I rooted him in place. I just can't believe two people attacked me out of no where, just when I think that, I get jumped by a third person in hiding, light armor, two daggers, not sure what it was. Didn't care really, I killed him too and decided it was not worth my time to hang around. This was the time when I decided to play a HoX as my main character instead of the two others I had, and to keep the possession feats.
Besides what other class can you turn into a demon that looks like the Predator for 25 seconds.

Heh, my two other characters I have are a Conqueror and a Templar.
Really, I only got them to level 10, so I can't say much. What I can say though is that the templar with all his life drain on attack abilities are just really nice. The Conqueror was quite fun to play, easy would be a nice word, no where near as difficult before level 10 as the Herald. I enjoyed both of them alot, but I am sticking to the Herald.

I'm also a HoX and the teens are pretty difficult compared to several others toons I played in Beta. I'm up to level 22 now and the damage + feats are really starting to shine. Nevertheless I figure the HoX is always going to be living on the edge lol, Cloth wearing melee dps ftw!
Hellstep is a fun spell, basically a melee charge with an aoe fire dmg dot. Having a 'mage' with a charge spell is funny as hell, it's a very unique class to play.
HoX seems really popular for some reason! So far I think I'm going to stick with barbarian but I really wishthey could wear at least medium armour. Heavy armour looks so great, it tempts me to play Conqueror/Dark Templar hehe... if only I had more time for the game right now.

Can anyone please tell me about Barbarian compared to HoX.
im really stuck between the two, Barbarian seems to be the stronger then the two but HoX looks alot more fun and the combo's and spells look really cool, but i dont like the fact that they get owned really fast.
argh, so very annoying not knowing what class to play, i just want a class with nice combo's (that look nice) and do really well in pvp, i play mmo's for the pvp not the pve, just level and pvp lol.
and also if i went barb i would really want to be duel wielding. but everyone says it sucks for pvp because of the lack of stuns and knockback etc. is this true?
any help on the classes will be very much appreciated
Great thread, keep the reviews coming I want to know more! I won't be starting until 15 June because of other commitments so I'm just going to gather information till then.
Also, with regards to people trying to choose the class that is strongest in PVP, I wouldn't bother. Just choose the class you like the idea of playing the most. Classes can change with the swing of the nerf bat so you may as well play the one that appeals to you most.
