The following is a copy of just the first paragraph of an incredibly poorly written letter I received from Funcom. For your enjoyment, I've underlined the humorous and sad spelling and grammatical errors in this initial paragraph. Actually, it's not funny at all, it's pathetic.
You have been a long and thrustworthy participant in our community, and as such we would like to thank you for helping us form Age of Conan into the marvelous product it is today. The last weeks has seen some serious enhancment to the game, and with the release we will be opening several new areas and neverbefore seen content in the launch version of the game. What and where it is? You have to find out for yourself!
(For the record: This was part of an official news mailer from Funcom.)
Comments
I hate to say it, but you're just asking to get flamed by the fanbois that don't care what level of customer service FunCom gives to it's customers nowadays.
Hey, I didn't write the paragraph. Don't flame the messenger, flame the company. This is...wow, one spelling error would have been funny. Five total grammatical and spelling errors takes this to the unprofessional level. (Six total errors if you count both "What and where it is" as well as "it is.")
They didn't run a spell check or proof read anything? 95% of forum posters don't run spell checks either (yes..I made up a number which isn't based on anything). While I personally find it bad form, especially in an 'announcement' to the public or worse, a post seen as patch notes but SO WHAT?
Don't be petty.
Uh... professionalism? Or is the MMO industry no longer held to infantile standards?
Hey, I don't mind being called both "long and thrustworthy." Oh...wait...
This isn't about being petty. This is about expecting a standard of excellence. Even setting the bar real low, this was another total gaffe.
We, the common posters on a forum doesn't need to use proper grammar or spelling because you know why? We're not professionals, we don't get paid for it. However, I'm assuming this CM, or GM or whatever that posted that horrible letter or whatever the hell it was, IS getting paid to write that stuff. They are SUPPOSED to be professionals, one of the first thing they ask in the requirement when you apply for such jobs are "Excellent writing and verbal skills." Which that guy demonstrated his "excellence" at such subject >.>
For the record, this was an official mailer from Funcom's newsletter email address.
It looks like it was written by someone who knows English as a second language, probably done in a hurry. As for a general comment about Funcom in general? Grow up yourself, errors happen...unless you're one of the posters on here who have never, ever made a mistake at work.
Aren't they Norwegian? Maybe they aren't fluent in awesome like you are. Either way, quit digging for shit to complain about.

HAHAHAH!
That is very funny.
Funcom's grammar not to happy.
how does that mean that they are immature?
LOL how do we know if you wrote this yourself ????????????????????
Grammatical errors is far from a measure for immature/mature. I can agree that it may be a bit unprofessional to mass send a mail without someone checking the grammar on it first, but that's it. Another thing. Who cares?

Leemeg.
OP, please notice how you are being slammed for being "petty" when simply asking for a professional service to send you a professional letter. You are asking for someone to actually be responsible enough to double check their work.
SHAME ON YOU!!!!
Seriously, I am pretty sure whoever wrote that message has what is known as "Windows®" as 90% of the computers today use it. I am also pretty sure on that computer comes "Windows Wordpad®" or "Windows Office Suite®" for the company that likes to do things right.
BUT
They can't be professional enough to run a spell checker in either of these utility tools, so they do not look like a complete tool?
hmmmmmm.................
I'm a big ol' fluffy carewolf. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
While they should have run a spell-checker over that letter, I don't know how this is worth posting on the forums.
Then again, I suppose people will always find reasons to try and belittle a game/company. Personally, those spelling-errors do not make my gameplay-experience any less fun. If that's the case for you...well, sorry for you.
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7
lol thrustworthy. I think that was an intentional spelling... the others the guy was sloppy. Still funny though.
Lol, can't find anything wrong with game so you take a swing at the translation?
Grow up.
I know! That's my point exactly. This was just so incredibly unprofessional it's mind-boggling. This is not Zu Online (I got a hilarious email from them, once, but I let it pass because they obviously used an automated translation program from Chinese to English). Funcom and their news writers should be able to put out coherent, clean, professional documents.
Your not serious are you?
I can start the phone book list of crap wrong with AoC if you would like me to?
Just let me know ok?
At this point, I think I'd just be beating a dead horse to complain about the "game."
If we constantly allow game designers to lower our expectations, we'll get exactly what we deserve from them.

I would like that. Please get started.
Meh, who cares? Who knows what lackey that had type that up. It's just some unimportant BS anyway. You can understand it, right? It's not like it's concerning your billing or account info. Don't be so petty. They're sending you a thank you email, any you're bitching about it?
Edit: Oh, and please explain your thread title... how exactly does this make the author immature?
