How Age of conan plays on a 4 year old system

I've noticed that alot of people asking if there system can run AOC have a better setup then I do, so I thought I should give a little performance review of my experience.

First I'm running on

CPU: AMD Athon 64 3500+

Video Card: Radeon X700 Pro 256Mb 128-bit GDDR3 memory

Ram :1GB

OS: Windows XP

Originally starting up, I ran into a few difficulties. Apparently the games shaders needed to be set lower, then default for my VC to render anything properly. Alas I couldn't see the game to change said settings, so i had to manually change the settings in the game folder. After that I relogged in and it ran..... Not well, but playable.

That Graphics look like Shadowbane on high or Oblivion on Low, The frame rate seems to be smooth enough, save when more then 5 characters start launching spells and what not. This makes group play hard and playing on a PvP server it becomes very annoying to have your frame rate drop to a slide show as you attempt to fend off would be gankers. I've found having your hotkeys and combos memorized helps as it allows you to fight blind, and I have defeated other players even when my frames skip for a second or more, now this could be due more to what I'm playing (HoX) and less to do with any skill I have. Loading screens go by relatively fast, I think the longest i have waited was roughly 25 secs. I've noticed loading into cities seems to take longer then loading out of them.

I enjoy the game itself, propley more for the atmosphere the game creates then for the gameplay itself. (Yelling Crom Laughs at your Weakness as you perform the coup de grace on a defeated foe, feels so much more rewarding then saying For The Horde.) I feel that after I get my hands on a new computer I could see myself playing this for a year or two.
